The permanent administration of these bureaucracies take a long time to change. When I started at the Texas Office of the Attorney General in 2003 there were still a lot of Democrats from prior admins. By the time I left, in 2015, the whole organization was much more Republican.
Now, Texas Democrats in 2003 were pretty normal people. Not like some today.
What I am saying is that to make real change, the Republicans need more than just one term. Changing a bureaucracy is hard and takes time. Recruiting people who can do the job and are willing to stay and put up with the government crap takes effort.
I hope that Trump puts people in place who have the patience. The DOGE is nice. But, each of these orgs need people in there to fix them.

I read something about Josh Hawley working with Bernie Sanders to push a bill to limit credit card interest rates, which Trump supposedly campaigned on (I don’t recall that).
What is the reasoning behind that? Seems to be a situation where the government shouldn’t get involved.

You shouldn’t throw away the baby with the bathwater. USAID does (or did) important work around the world, as a child I personally witnessed USAID food being delivered to needy communities as well as worthwhile projects that improved people’s lives. I remember at the time that it created tremendous good will toward the US, and that the food packages said “donated by the people of the United States” in bold letters.
Of course, wokesters have bastardized the program to include all sorts of ridiculous funding for woke causes and projects like transgender plays and other obvious attempts to make USAID into a political arm to fund a leftist woke agenda.
USAID, in its original mission, should continue, and I hope its core purpose will remain and continue to be funded.
