rfk was confirmed.
Tina where did you find that RFK was confirmed?

Jan, RFK made it out of committee on a party line vote, 14-13. Now on to the full Senate.

Thanks GF. I thought getting out of the committee was as far as he had gone. So, Tina’s post caught me by surprise.

No kidding! USAID originated as funding going towards impoverished countries. But, it evolved, after Trump’s 1st election, to funding the Dems pet projects, rogue countries and our enemies – with no oversight.

The permanent administration of these bureaucracies take a long time to change. When I started at the Texas Office of the Attorney General in 2003 there were still a lot of Democrats from prior admins. By the time I left, in 2015, the whole organization was much more Republican.
Now, Texas Democrats in 2003 were pretty normal people. Not like some today.
What I am saying is that to make real change, the Republicans need more than just one term. Changing a bureaucracy is hard and takes time. Recruiting people who can do the job and are willing to stay and put up with the government crap takes effort.
I hope that Trump puts people in place who have the patience. The DOGE is nice. But, each of these orgs need people in there to fix them.

So I get it. Pete Alonso returns to the Mets for $27 million for this year are not still improved to be better than the Braves, according to Fangraphs and others. Did NY Mets analytics home office team expert and realize that money could of spent on pitching instead of hitting after you got Soto?

The secrecy of the USAID grant database is by design. Look up the addresses of entities receiving millions of dollars on Google maps and you’ll find shacks or empty land. It’s pure money laundering.

”From the Arab Spring to Libya, to the color revolution in Ukraine, to the attempted overthrow of Viktor Orban in Hungary, to overturning the outcome of the Romanian election (remember it was a global intelligence determination), to the efforts to support Emmanuel Macron, to influence and IC control over Moldova, and onto the efforts of USAID and Samantha Power in Tbilisi, Georgia, the footprint of USAID in connection to the CIA was always transparent.
The fact that USAID was similarly involved in domestic influence operations, is now coming forth with receipts showing how USAID paid domestic political groups for activism, paid for media influence operations and generally did the same thing inside the United States that the CIA/USAID were doing outside the USA.
The DC apoplexy is related to these USAID/CIA revelations, the financial benefits many were receiving, and the publicity therein.”

-Same thing it had been doing for almost 60 years, spending tax $$ without being looked at with any sort of skepticism if it’s being well-spent.

“Now, it’s starting to sound like Musk’s seething hatred towards the aid organization can be traced back to at least one conflict of interest at one of his business ventures: according to The Lever, USAID’s inspector general was investigating Musk’s Starlink partnership with the Ukrainian government around the time DOGE shut down the organization.”
Musk gives Ukraine a chance in their fight against Russia, but looks like OUR government, under Biden, had a problem with that!

One other thing:
I read something about Josh Hawley working with Bernie Sanders to push a bill to limit credit card interest rates, which Trump supposedly campaigned on (I don’t recall that).
What is the reasoning behind that? Seems to be a situation where the government shouldn’t get involved.

You shouldn’t throw away the baby with the bathwater. USAID does (or did) important work around the world, as a child I personally witnessed USAID food being delivered to needy communities as well as worthwhile projects that improved people’s lives. I remember at the time that it created tremendous good will toward the US, and that the food packages said “donated by the people of the United States” in bold letters.
Of course, wokesters have bastardized the program to include all sorts of ridiculous funding for woke causes and projects like transgender plays and other obvious attempts to make USAID into a political arm to fund a leftist woke agenda.
USAID, in its original mission, should continue, and I hope its core purpose will remain and continue to be funded.

Yes, capping interest rates on credit cards is socialistic BS, akin to price and wage controls.

Unedited cut from Kamala 60 Minutes interview:
At very end of unedited
@BillWhitakerCBS called Harris’ economic policy proposals “logical.” When cameraman asked to get an over the shoulder shot of Whitaker: “Well we were talking about how you’re gonna pay for it and I mean I truly do mean it, I, you know, your plans are logical, make logical sense. The way Washington works is not logical….”

Seems fair enough.
“Bondi’s directive told Justice Department attorneys that they were expected to work at “vigorously defending presidential policies and actions on behalf of the United States against legal challenges.” “The discretion afforded Justice Department attorneys with respect to those responsibilities,” the directive continued, “does not include latitude to substitute their personal political views or judgments for those that prevailed in the election.” Indeed. After all, who elected the attorneys?
The directive added that “when Justice Department attorneys refuse to faithfully carry out their role by, for example, refusing to advance good-faith arguments or declining to sign briefs, it undermines the constitutional order and deprives the President of the benefit of his lawyers.” Consequently, “any Justice Department attorney who declines to sign a brief, refuses to advance good-faith arguments on behalf of the Trump administration, or otherwise delays or impedes the Justice Department’s mission will be subject to discipline and potentially termination.”
