next, to talk politics. The state of the party. The state of races. What’s important that’s upcoming that people may have missed. And then who knows.
we plan on having real politicians. Experts. Etc as we grow. And establish a broader audience
one topic. How did Ron Paul and his worshipers infiltrate the R party and what does it mean for the future
I think that is a legit topic Chicon. I don’t know how much you know about that movement, but they have no fidelity to a party, just the leader. They viewed the R party as the easiest to infiltrate, targeting state and even local party organizations to infiltrate and then ultimately try to control.
So the question is, what are their long term goals. What influence do they have over the Party, and what’s next.
What ideas do they have that could be beneficial, if any. What ideas do they have that are harmful. Remember, their ultimate goal is anarchy. They don’t believe in political structure at all, state of nature is what they believe in. so how does that jibe with a country of 320M people.
I believe its a legitimate topic.
Chicon, I would hardly categorize you as a Paul follower, in fact, outside of Bunu, I don’t suspect anyone is, though, some of his mantra has seeped its way in. Let’s discuss
Not at all Chicon. It’s a look at the changes over a period of time. In 2010 Tea Party people were seen as extreme. Hard right infiltrators to the party. What happened? Who changed? Was it the party? Was it those who gained power and have stayed in office since then?
I think there is a very interesting discussion there. One could argue that power corrupts and changes people. What about examining the Tea Party movement itself. What it stood for, what its demands were and how that compares to today’s movement.
Chicon – But what you bring up is the entire reason for the topic. Why can’t we discuss our differences? When did 100% fidelity become a requirement, whether to CC Republicans or Trump Populists…and everyone in between.
Here’s the deal. Anyone who thinks that the left isnt going to take a hard look at why they lost, and then come out with a marketing campaign to cover their real intentions and lure voters back to them is naive, and it will lead to a crushing defeat in 2026 and 28. They are ruthless, and will do anything to regain power and subjugate people to their will.
Wokism is far from dead, and when they bring it back once in power, it will make this version seem like child’s play.
We need to be ready, and that means taking a long hard look at where we were, where we are, and what comes next. Either we work together, or we all lose.
TOPIC – The Tea Party 15 years later – How they came to be called RINOS.
If you invite a guest who is a Tea Party type, s/he might show up in a defensive mindset.
I love having Jan and Tina (and others) here because I learn about different viewpoints from them. Rand Paul has been absolutely right from the start about Covid and censorship – it might have useful if the R’s (including Trump) had listened to him.
I think we have “why everyone else is an idiot” covered.
Rand Paul doesn’t oppose “censorship”, nobody is less “democratic” than the Paulbot morons.
Bunu was here for years whining that if Paulbots could decided on who was a candidate, rather than the pesky voters in the primaries, Ron Paul would be President for 8 years followed by Rand Paul for 8 years (unless Paulbots could make them dictators for life?
Rand Paul is an autocrat who is fine with censorship, as long as it its directed at people that don’t agree with him.
I can’t think of one thing Rand Paul has ever said that was “useful”.
Btw, equating the Tea Party with Paulbots is another fallacy advocated by guess who, Paulbot morons.
The Tea Party was never about Paulbots. It was not started by Paulbots. And its main “ideal;” had nothing to with Paulbots. The Tea Party was an anti-tax movement that started with Rick Santelli (not a Paulbot) who advocated for a “tea party” on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. It was sparked by the 2008 financial crisis. I attended several Tea Party rallies and there were no Paulbots there. Ron Paul, one of the biggest porkers in Congress and the King of Earmarks, would not have been welcome.
Later the Pauls and their Paulbot followers attempted to co-opt it, and in my view it was what turned off a lot of people, including me.
And Trump is no tea partier. Trump is not a fiscal conservative. The original Tea Party was not really isolationist and protectionist. David Koch of the American for Prosperity group was a major influencer.
But because the Tea Party was very decentralized, it was easy for Paulbots to “co-opt” it on the edges.
People become aroused to form counter political groups by what is collectively seen as an injustice – commonly caused by an overreach of a big centralized government encroaching on people’s rights. Without such spontaneous eruptions of indignation by the people we would be on a fast tract to a socialized, intemperate type of country.
For instance the Tea Party was a byproduct of people’s disdain/rejection of Obamacare. Before that legislation broke up our health care system, polling indicated over an 85% satisfaction rate for the health care most people were already receiving. I think having a single-issue grievance – health care – as their movement’s core reason to rebel against the system was not enough to exact significant changes in how the government operated, as a whole. Consequently, people elected under the Tea Party brand quickly were absorbed into the largesse of government behavior, susceptible to the power and perks that can easily corrupt high-minded ideals people came into government with.
In contrast, the Trump movement (MAGA) was created from a myriad of grievances people had with our government, encompassing most segments of society. Out of control illegal immigration, inflation, mounting crime, cultural and gender distortions, unaudited war expenditures, censorship, unorthodox lockdowns, and administrating justice through a politicized, unfair mode labeled “lawfare” effected many people’s lives, especially those in working, middle classes. This is a much larger, diverse grouping seeking to re-work government into a more manageable one, meeting the needs of the common man rather than those of the establishment and global community at large. I believe such a movement is developing a stronger infrastructure of goals and commitment, producing a solid foundation having the possibility of creating real enduring change, rather than the transitory one seen after the Tea Party’s demise.
”Consequently, people elected under the Tea Party brand quickly were absorbed into the largesse of government behavior, susceptible to the power and perks that can easily corrupt high-minded ideals people came into government with”
”I believe such a movement (…MAGA) is developing a stronger infrastructure of goals and commitment, producing a solid foundation having the possibility of creating real enduring change, rather than the transitory one seen after the Tea Party’s demise.”
”Tea party people were corrupted. Maga is the pure movement, above corruption which will create real, enduring change. Got it “
Power temps most people to override their original high-minded intentions. It’s a byproduct of human behavior. However, every once in a while, someone or some cause becomes an outlier, rising up to carry out their promises and potential despite the personal cost of doing so. No where was it said MAGA was a pure movement. It’s acclaim, though, has been it’s persistence and the huge organization of grass roots who collectively, with little money, prevailed over their sophisticated, media-backed, well-funded opponent. I do think some movements do have a special tenacity to survive, individuating themselves from the government cronyism that usually overtake other well-meaning politicos.
Whether or not the MAGA movement survives past a Trump presidency depends, though, on how successful his presidency is in delivering the promises made to the people. This is a tall order that only time will tell if it comes to fruition or not.
Scott Jennings is a rational voice in the CNN wilderness. He is now joining the editorial board of the LA Times at the request of its new owner. After years of left wing editorials from the Times his take on the world will be a welcomed change.
I’ve written columns for the paper over the last few years and was honored to do so under such a storied and important masthead. I love newspapers and believe in strong journalism and strong opinion pages that represent a wide array of views. I approach my commentary jobs by starting with the truth and then providing my honest opinion based on my conservative values and experience. I think Dr Soon-Shiong is doing something important and groundbreaking and am honored he asked me to play a role in that. Roughly half (or more) of the country often feels like legacy media doesn’t care what it thinks and has little interest in fairly representing its views and values. I plan to represent those Americans who believe they are often ignored or even ridiculed in legacy media and applaud Dr Soon-Shiong’s move to bring balance to the editorial board. My other professional obligations won’t be impacted by this new opportunity.
” want them to explain their points of view on their own. No links.”
What do you think I’ve been doing on this thread, but explaining my own point of view, with no links? As a retort, why don’t you go into more detail about your own unchanging POVs, instead of just mocking others with redundancy.
Vic said….Whether or not the MAGA movement survives past a Trump presidency depends, though, on how successful his presidency is in delivering the promises made to the people.
True. It can also be asked whether or not the Republican party tries to ensure that Trump voters remain Republican voters when he’s gone. It’s far from a sure thing. The “traditional” Republicans – who have won the popular vote once since 1988 – can’t wait for the rubes to go away. All one needs as proof is to read this site.
Bitter says….Almost all of your posts are links or copy and paste from others
I’ll translate….the only legitimate Republican positions are the ones I hold. I wish you’d stop posting here. I love my little, pure, County Club Republican party.
I read the following from Dr Robert Malone’s substack column. His description of “high agency” reminds me of some of the traits which are behind Trump’s ability to plow thru obstacles.
High Agency refers to an individual’s ability to shape their own destiny, bend reality to their will, and exert control over their life and work. It involves recognizing that the limitations and constraints imposed by others are merely stories, and that one has the power to rewrite those narratives. People with High Agency are characterized by their:
Authenticity: They stay true to themselves, unapologetically pursuing their goals and values.
Intentionality: They set clear goals and take deliberate action to achieve them, rather than simply reacting to circumstances.
Proactivity: They don’t wait for opportunities to arise; they create their own, often finding innovative solutions to overcome obstacles.
Discipline: They prioritize their goals and make sacrifices to achieve them, demonstrating self-control and perseverance.
Resourcefulness: They adapt and improvise, leveraging available resources to overcome challenges and achieve their objectives.
Orthogonal Thinking: They challenge conventional wisdom, asking questions that look at problems from unconventional angles and finding novel solutions.
Resilience: They bounce back from setbacks and failures, using them as opportunities for growth and learning.
The Tea Party was co-opted by the GOPe, and there were many grifting groups that used the Tea Party moniker to raise money that went into the grifters pockets rather than pushing forward the movement. There was some slowing of the rate of spending increases due to sequestration and negotiation in Congress in the aftermath of the Tea Party, since the GOP had massive Congressional gains in 2010 and 2014.
The overall trend has been increased Congressional deficit spending. This is a slow motion game of hot potato where both sides are hoping the other gets caught being in power when the inevitable financial collapse happens. When the GOP has tried to reign in spending the Dems beat them up politically with it. And it is effective since many Rep voters still want their slice of the pie to stay as large as possible.
Under plans floated by Mr Trump’s team, a peace deal would see the current front line frozen in place, and Ukraine agreeing to shelve its ambitions to join Nato for 20 years. If agreed, the US would pump Ukraine with weapons to deter future Russian aggression.”
I don’t like the current front line frozen, although that certainly is a lot less than what the Russians were demanding, full control of all 4 provinces they invaded. I would demand Russians return to pre-invasion borders.
I would change 20 years to 10 years for NATO.
I really like “pump Ukraine with weapons to deter future Russian aggression”.
I actually predicted that this would be Trump’s plan, to threaten Zelensky with abandoning Ukraine and threatening Russia with further arming of Ukraine.
I also predicted his “miracle plan” was to have Ukraine surrender sovereign territory the invaders are not entitled to and that merely encourages Putin to keep pushing his expansionist agenda.
I is a genius.
The moral stand would be for Zelensky to tell Trump to GFH. Unfortunately the moral stand is not always feasible.
I’ll translate….the only legitimate Republican positions are the ones I hold. I wish you’d stop posting here. I love my little, pure, County Club Republican party.
A podcast that is more of “traditional” Republicans yelling at the “new” Republicans that gave the R’s the House, Senate and White House sounds totally exciting. Can’t wait.
Exactly how do you propose scheduling it? If I was as terrible as you claim, I could delete or edit a lot of posts. I don’t. But keep insulting me and proving why you are joining the Clown Wing of HHR.
Loving it that Kash Patel has been nominated FBI Director. What a stark contrast to the forked-tongue Chris Wray. I bet DJT regretted taking the suggestion of Chris Christie to nominate Wray to that position! Trump is making fewer mistakes in choosing his own people this time around.
Chicon is being no more insulting than you and Jason are to a handful of people you two repeatedly target. You know that old saying about “what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.” Or, “what goes around comes around.”
“re” to a handful of people you two repeatedly target”
I target liars and conspiracy theorists and people who come here to regurgitate talking points written by others and obtained from the cesspools of
I target people who are incapable of actually defending the fake and dishonest talking points written by others.
I target people who are Cultists who will sell out any conservative principle they once professed to have for some perceived (usually false) immediate gain.
I target people who profess to be conservative yet idolize a communist former KGB agent and dictator guilty of horrendous war crimes and probably half a million deaths not to mention the displacement of 10 million people.
It is highly enjoyable to see people at upset because someone they voted for is doing exactly what he said he’d do.”
I am not upset. I think that contrary to Gaetz, Patel is qualified.
I just don’t think he will get 50 votes. Nor do i think the effort to make it happen and/or the political capital that will need to be expended is worth it, there are other qualified candidates. In the Gaetz case, we ended up with an excellent nominee (actually my recommendation early on) Pam Bondi.
The armchair warriors, sitting comfortably in front of their devices, can keep saying Ukrainians want to keep fighting and dying, but news reports are finally openly admitting the dire straits soldiers on the front lines are in. Thousands of tired troops have deserted the Ukrainian Army.
”KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — Desertion is starving the Ukrainian army of desperately needed manpower and crippling its battle plans at a crucial time in its war with Russia, which could put Kyiv at a clear disadvantage in future ceasefire talks.
Facing every imaginable shortage, tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops, tired and bereft, have walked away from combat and front-line positions to slide into anonymity, according to soldiers, lawyers and Ukrainian officials. Entire units have abandoned their posts, leaving defensive lines vulnerable and accelerating territorial losses, according to military commanders and soldiers.
Some take medical leave and never return, haunted by the traumas of war and demoralized by bleak prospects for victory. Others clash with commanders and refuse to carry out orders, sometimes in the middle of firefights.”
Jan posts….”Facing every imaginable shortage, tens of thousands of Ukrainian troops, tired and bereft, have walked away from combat and front-line positions to slide into anonymity.”
If only America had tried to help, maybe the outcome would have been different…
wow, I believe 48 hours have passed without McCormick’s lead dropping any further. No doubt they took Thanksgiving off. I am not saying Casey will win or catch up. He wouldn’t have dropped out had the numbers been there. I am just curious to see 1) when will the counting actually end, and 2) will they ever remove the ballots the high court ruled must not be counted.
I think one topic for the podcast should be “How my life improved dramatically after the goofballs took the Indian girl off the butter package, Aunt Jemima off the the pancake mix package, renamed streets/plazas/etc. after George Floyd, tore down/desecrated statues of Columbus, Lincoln, and Civil War southern generals, began requiring schools to use whatever pronouns each student wanted to be called this week and change those pronouns next week.”
”Not a word from Jan that only Putin is solely responsible for conditions in Ukraine.”
You’re in a mental rut, Bitter. Everyone knows Putin is responsible for the invasion. However, letting a war deteriorate, while other countries needlessly prolong it, is contributing to the present day circumstances of fatigue and desertion. But, you won’t admit the toll this war has taken on the people and the generation of young men fighting it. You’re fundamentally showing a lack of understanding and empathy.
President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday nominated Kash Patel to serve as the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Patel, who served as chief of staff to the acting secretary of defense during Trump’s first term in office, has been critical of the way the FBI operates. In a recent interview, Patel said he would shut down the bureau’s headquarters in Washington, and turn it into a museum, relocating the agency to outside the Beltway.
Tina posted…Patel said he would shut down the bureau’s headquarters in Washington, and turn it into a museum, relocating the agency to outside the Beltway.
Patel said he would shut down the bureau’s headquarters in Washington, and turn it into a museum, relocating the agency to outside the Beltway.”
The museum comment was stupid and that will be used against him in the hearings. So will his professed belief in the fictitious “Deep State”, so “deep” that he knows all about it. Maybe during the hearings he will have some proof of the existence of the Deep State, I look forward to that.
Also his vow to strip the FBI from intelligence capabilities, which of course would be great news for our geopolitical foes and cause for celebration in Russia, China, N Korea, Cuba, Venezuela etc. I suspect he will back off this idiocy because if he insists on it he won’t get confirmed.
Polymarket does not have a prediction market yet on his odds. I suspect they will be even lower than Tulsi or Hegeseth, currently hovering around 60%. Everyone else is currently over 90%.
Unlike Gaetz, he has no personal scandals and has a lot of professional experience within the D.C. administrative state.
People will not understand that AMERICA no longer is willing to be lied to by either the left nor the RINOs. Americans voted to DEFEAT both this year, first the neoCon RINOs and then the left Dems.
This is simply a return to American BEFORE the Bushes, Clintons, Obamas, Ryans, Romneys, Cheneys and the rest sold us out to any globalist interest willing to pay their price.
THIS is what the GOP stands for TODAY. Those who want a return to the NeoCon/RINO world view need to follow the Cheneys, Kristols, and the like into the Democratic party where they hate you. It is an AMERICA FIRST GOP party now!

I don’t like the current front line frozen, although that certainly is a lot less than what the Russians were demanding, full control of all 4 provinces they invaded. I would demand Russians return to pre-invasion borders.
I would change 20 years to 10 years for NATO.

I just don’t think he will get 50 votes. Nor do i think the effort to make it happen and/or the political capital that will need to be expended is worth it, there are other qualified candidates. The armchair warriors, sitting comfortably in front of their devices, can keep saying Ukrainians want to keep fighting and dying, but news reports are finally openly admitting the dire straits soldiers on the front lines are in. Thousands of tired troops have deserted the Ukrainian Army.
https://apnews.com/article/deserters-awol-ukraine-russia-war-def676562552d42bc5d593363c9e5ea0

You’re in a mental rut, Bitter. Everyone knows Putin is responsible for the invasion. However, letting a war deteriorate, while other countries needlessly prolong it, is contributing to the present day circumstances of fatigue and desertion.
