The townhall was CNN.
Show the flag and don’t back down. I known you all hate Christie but when he was running for Governor, he would debate anywhere and go to every forum. He even answered questions on boardwalks from voters.
When I ran for Congress, I spoke to a group of black women voters. They thanked me since they had never had a Republican visit to answer their questions. I thanked them for the invitation and they laughed when I asked if Chaka Fattah had ever spoken to their group because he didn’t need to.

Yes, I think you should go and debate outside your comfort zone and try to change minds. Trump was effective doing rallies in blue areas.
But engaging groups such as you did with black voters is different from a setup.
CNN townhalls are dishonest partisan hackery. The moderators are hacks and the townhall participants are props. There is nothing legitimate about this “forum”
So in the first place even honoring CNN with your presence and participating in a pre ordained circus is stupid.

“SCOTRUN, Pa. — A Pennsylvania woman allegedly stabbed her husband and 3-year-old son to death at a family resort in the Poconos before trying to take her own life, according to a criminal complaint.
Monroe County District Attorney Mike Mancuso called the incident a “violent domestic tragedy” while announcing homicide charges against the woman on Tuesday.
Authorities responded to a room at the Great Wolf Lodge in Scotrun, Pocono Township, on Monday for a suicidal caller, according to the complaint.
The 911 caller — identified in the complaint as 27-year-old Metallica Rose Harrison of Towanda — reported that she was “too weak to stab my neck”
She was strong enough to stab her husband and child to death, but just “too weak” to kill herself.
Does she have “supporters” yet? The kid was 3, maybe a little old for “post partum psychosis” but you never know.
Btw, who names their child “Metallica”

I assume the husband was roughly her age, so you have to be pretty strong to stab a 30 year old man to death without injury to yourself. But you are not strong enough to stab yourself in the neck.

A small win for gun rights
“The federal government spent nine years trying to keep a Pennsylvania man disarmed over a decades-old DUI. A federal court just told the government it doesn’t have that right.
The 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals issued two Second Amendment decisions Tuesday, limiting how the federal government can enforce its lifetime firearms prohibition against people with criminal convictions. The rulings distinguish violent offenders from those whose past crimes provide no evidence that they pose a danger with a firearm.
Edward Williams’ trouble with federal gun law came from a 2005 Pennsylvania DUI conviction. Because it was his second offense, the maximum possible sentence was five years. He received a sentence of 90 days to two years, served at home. The longer potential sentence was enough for the feds to prohibit him from possessing a firearm.
He even worked at a gun store. But when an attorney informed him in 2015 that his conviction prohibited him from possessing firearms, Williams gave them up and went to court.
The lawsuit began in 2017. Williams had been at the same job for more than 30 years, and his record contained no evidence that he had ever threatened someone with a gun. The federal prohibition still applied, based on a DUI conviction from 12 years earlier.
Judge Paul Matey, appointed by Trump, wrote the opinion. Its opening paragraph offered little encouragement to the Justice Department’s defense of the firearms restriction:
The Second Amendment is a primary protection against tyranny, a strong bulwark securing American liberty, and an indispensable means of defending the public good. So courts testing restrictions on these ‘most sacred’ and ‘necessary’ rights must consider the history and tradition of firearm regulations with care and rigor.

Someone on Facebook the other day had a post that had a picture/ drawing of a monkey playing the bongos and another of Talor Swift playing a guitar.
The caption was “under socialism the monkey would grt the same pay as Taylor Swift. That is why monkeys like socialism”.
I reposted that to my Facebook page.A comment I got was that I was “a racist, sexist, unchristian person…not even a man…”
An AA friend of mine responded to his comment and said “what is racist about the post?”
Here is this guy’s (white, 70 yr. old liberal) response:
“The monkey has long been used as a tool of dehumanizating racist imagery—particularly anti-black imagery which has compared black people to apes and monkeys. Racists use bongos as imagery for primitiveness.”
“The use of Taylor Swift is a societal presentation that white blonde women are the only allowed examples of success (weak men are threatened by strong women, and usually sexualize them – just look at the Trump administration press, secretaries and staff) which plays off of the monkey imagery. “
“And lastly, this meme plays on the pure ugliness of a social message that racists and sexist promote and rely on – the laziness of uneducated people to not even Google the definition of socialism let alone understanding how American capitalism with its social security net works. “
“But all these old racist men will figure it out when they lose their Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security due to cuts by the Republican Party. Some people need to feel the pain to understand what they’re supporting. “
“Keep up your [he is referring to my Black friend who serves in an appointed position in WV state government for minority affairs for some years now and was an elected member of the House of Delegates I served with from the neighboring county] good fight in the Republican Party. I’m rooting for you.”
” ♥️P.S. I’d rather be excluded because of who I include rather than included by who I exclude.”

Although i would qualify as “heavier individual” my limit is two, and even then not in a “short time frame” if I have dinner or go to a bar it would be over at least 2 hours.
Of course, you can get a DUI for impairment even if you are under the limit. I actually don’t know if I could walk a straight line foot over foot in the dark even if I was stone sober. I think I can count back from 100 to 88.

Oh, the data is wrong…
“Defense lawyers George Milner and Scott Palmer concede their client was speeding and ran a red light, but say she wasn’t drunk behind the wheel. It’s an important distinction because if jurors aren’t convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that Pollis was intoxicated, they can’t convict her of either count, according to the lawyers, and they don’t have any lesser offenses to choose from.
Milner and Palmer have pointed to multiple witnesses who said Pollis did not appear intoxicated and have suggested flaws in the blood-alcohol analysis revealing she was at nearly four times the legal limit.”

Drunk driving.
In 1968 and 1969 in my last 3 semesters in college, a huge percentage of people I went to school with drove drunk pretty regularly on weeke.
I am very familiar with one person I know back in 1968/69 who drove drunk every day and night for months and months and months. No accidents, thankfully.
If all who did drive drunk in 1968/69 and over the 0.08 bac were jailed for each infraction some would still be in jail.
There were no auto related drunk driving deaths involving anyone at my college in any of the 4 1/2 years I was there or on the next 3 years I hung around on most weekend as far as I know.
We did have one student who died while working the summer as a logger, we had two who died and another seriously injured in two auto accidents where no alcohol was unvolved. We did have a few car crashes where cars were really damaged and some injuries occurred due to a college student driving drunk. No very serious.
Since college I have had 2 of 36 business fraternity frat brothers who committed suicide (and 3 more who served time in federal prison plus another who embezzled over a hundred thousand dollars from his employer and SHOULD have ended up in prison but did not, but those are all different non drinking stories) and another classmate who after returning home from serving in Vietnam who committed suicide.
******
Young people who drove drunk did so in the late 60s, but it was drunk (legally) on alcohol.
Young people in the late 1960s drunk to get high. Today’s younger people drink to get blitzed.
Young people in the late 1960s did not use other drugs in conjunction with alcohol. Young people today very often use other drugs along WITH alcohol which has a synergistic effect on their bodies and greatly increases impairment and destroys any rational thought process.
****
Just like youth of rheblate 60s who did use weed…it was not laced with all sorts of other drugs. Not so with youths who smoke weed today that is laced with fentynol and all sorts of other poisons. Plus even straight weed today is umpteen times stronger in THC content than wee in the late 1869s.
.
MANY states had drunk driving law bac content set at 0.10 bac.
Then the federal government starrted putting pressure on ststes to lower the bac to 0.08 or if they did not, the state would lose all or a significa t part of their federal highway dollars the feds sent to the states.
WV was one of the last states who bowed and caved to the federal pressure in 2004 and lowered the bac to 0.08 in that year. I was serving in the legislature then…

When I was about 10, another 5 year old boy who lived 2 houses away was stuck and killed by a car (no alcohol involved). And a 24 year old neighbor boy who lived across the street died in a car wreck (I think alcohol).
About 2,200 college classmates during my 4 1/2 years in college…no drunk driving related deaths.
