Jobless claims just surprised in a good way. Initial claims fell to 198k, well below expectations (consensus ~215,000) and near the lowest levels in years. The 4-week average is now at its lowest since early 2024, and continuing claims also ticked down.
Hiring cooled late last year, but companies still are not letting people go. The unemployment rate recently dipped to 4.4%. That is an important signal of labor market strength. We saw sentiment from this show up during the holidays too.
U.S. spending beat expectations. Mastercard +3.9% YoY, Visa +4.2%, NRF around 4.1% and over $1T in sales. A sign of consumer confidence despite a crazy year of headlines.

Trump backed down on most of the stupid tariffs, so it is not a surprise they didn’t impact the overall inflation number significantly. Had he not done so, you would have seen different numbers.
Tariffs are a tax on the American consumer. Tariffs increase prices, decrease revenues, decrease international trade, decrease investments, lower economic activity on the items subject to tariffs.
Inflation is a general measure of the whole economy and reflects a lot of items not subject to tariffs, such as for example energy.
Tina is a moron.
She says tariffs don’t cause inflation.
After Trump backs down on most tariffs, she says they didn’t cause inflation.

According to several folks on Twitter, the sc decision on the Muh tariffs case appears to be delayed until June. This increases the odds that the tariffs will be upheld.
Imo, the plaintiffs had a very weak case.

My suggestions to get control of the MN rioters
Put out decoy a ICE vehicle in parking lots of whatever. Crowd of insane people would gather, then deface, then destroy then steal all from the inside of the vehicle. Of course you would have drone surveillance of the scene…
BUT, the decoy vehicle has a remote control device that either has A) explosives that would k*ll or maim all within 10 feet of the vehicle. Or if that is too harsh for you, then B) a device that would explode and shower everyone within 20 feet with fluorescent yellow/orange paint to cover their clothing and faces etc. and sparkly confetti with glue on them (similar to what some people use to bring justice to porch pirates that steal packages off porches) and it is a PERMANENT DYE that will not wear off for 10 years. Then, bring in the cavalry to arrest and haul off to jail everyone who has yellow/orange florescent paint on their clothes, face, hands or whatever.
ALSO, have drones carrying a powder fly over lawless groups and spray the powder over everyone who was unlawfully assembled or whatever. The POWDER is harmless, but anybody or anything it lands can be detected with an ULTRAVIOLET (black) light. So when the police are in the area and catch people running away who say, “Oh that was not me over there” the police wave an ultraviolet light over them and if the fluorescent powder shows up with its distinct color, haul their ass off to jail.

I would hold up a list 25 feet long of illegal immigrant targets of ICE in Minneapolis and in MN. It would list their first and last name first letter only (and all of rest of the name would be blocked out.
I would read the names, charges, that they were wanted for or convicted of murder, rape, assault, child molestation, etc.I would hold the list up and say:
THESE ARE THE bad people ICE is trying to apprehend and get off YOUR STREETS in YOUR STATE. I think this is a brilliant idea.
Bitter, you could let the Philly Mayor and DA know that for a modest fee, just to cover expenses, say $250 an hour, I could make Lupita available for quiet reflection time for employees traumatized by the arrest of illegal alien criminals.
In fact, I could do a partnership with Walt, Cash Cow and Lupita for $500 an hour.

Speaking of money, I was having a lot of running nose, cold like symptoms. Took an extra allergy pill that has diphenhydramine in it.
Did wonders!
Feeling good today, BUT, went to the store to buy some more–with in case.
At Dollar General, the BRAND name product having this ingredient was $8. the generic brand in capsule form was $5 for the same number of pills. Then I found the same off brand brand had a TABLET form (same number of pills–24) of the same exact medicine for $1.
At another store I also was successful in my search of finding Black and Mild original cigars for 99 cents each for a box of 25. They can be Anywhere from $1.19 to $1.49 each at other locations.
At yet another store I was able to but a box of raisin bran cereal and a box of honey nut cheerios for about $5 TOTAL.
