A favorable decision eliminating or limiting minority established VRA districts could have sweeping national consequences, potentially invalidating existing minority opportunity districts in multiple states and shifting the balance of power in Congress, with estimates suggesting Republicans could gain up to 27 additional safe House seats in future elections. A ruling in December 2025 or early 2026 would allow time for states to redraw congressional maps ahead of the 2026 elections.

inland vs coastal makes a difference here in VA. It can be 30s and snowing in Lynchburg, but 200 miles to the east along the beach, sunny and 60s.

Closer to Cary – which is nice but not high energy. It was an engagement party for my niece. It was nice to be with my brother’s family but difficult since my dead niece is never far from our thoughts.
