It’s nice to see a close race in Michigan, but we’re getting slaughtered in the midterms if the economy doesn’t boom next year.

  4. Jeff, its also interesting that for the GOP, the standard is the economy MUST BOOM.

But for the Democrats, they can totally stink, mess everything up, and run candidates who are on record wanting to put two bullets in the head of the republican to save the lives of Hitler and Pol Pot, and the economy they are responsible for can tank, but they somehow deserve re-election.

Trump needs to take a break from solving problems around the world and spend the next 11 months explaining these successes to voters. He needs to focus on getting prices down, crime down, and personal profits up.

  29. Trump’s stupid tariffs and trade wars made the entire food supply chain more expensive. Tariffs on raw materials made packaging more expensive. Trucking restrictions on Mexico made transporting food more expensive. More expensive food raises restaurant/fast foot prices. Tariffs on the food itself negated the positive impact of lower gas prices and deregulation. Nobody feels benefit out of “tariff revenue”, but everyone feels the cost of higher grocery prices. Even if grocery prices are not rising, they are much higher than they were before the Biden era, so people now blame Trump, not Biden.

Trump is now backing down on a lot of tariffs, but the damage is done.

You can sugar coat it any way you want, but you can never escape the fact that tariffs are just another tax on on consumers. And consumers are paying the tax and they are not happy.

Nothing is farther from reality. They were not peaceful, they engaged in wars and conquests, enslaving, torturing, slaughtering and sometimes even eating their enemies. Conditions were often harsh, they had little protection/warning from hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, blizzards, etc. Food supplies were unreliable, famines common, many tribes had to lead nomadic existences. Medicine was rudimentary and there was little recourse against diseases, illnesses and injuries. Life expectancy was about 30. Societies were autocratic and rigid.

You can condemn Washington for owning slaves, but remember that up to the early 60’s blacks had to sit in the back of the bus and use separate restrooms. This was morally acceptable to the vast majority of whites in the South, almost 200 years after the Revolutionary War.

You can make an argument that when Washington owned slaves, slavery was morally acceptable to vast majorities of the population. People grew up being told blacks were inferior and incapable. To believe otherwise, you had to be a rebel against prevailing thought.
