Well, if it’s actually a D+4 electorate, then some of that makes sense. If the Dems win the legislative vote by 12 points, they’re going to have a massive majority. I don’t know the partisan breakdowns enough, but big wins like that often approach 2/3 of the seats.
One thing I don’t get is how Youngkin can have a good approval spread like that, yet his endorsed candidates broadly trail. I get the Trump disapproval, but if you like how the state is functioning, you keep the same people in office. Dems will always vote for Dems, it’s the so called “independents” and “moderates” who are frustrating; they’ll cut off their noses to spite their faces.

To be fair, Sears has done herself no favors if her general approval is at -7; if Reid can slip into positive territory, no reason why Sears couldn’t. It’s looking more like a personal rejection of her in these polls vice a throw the bums out wholesale rejection of the GOP if Miyares wins comfortably and Reid pulls the upset (as he’s positioned to do in almost all of the polls this past week).

DW, thanks for keeping the VA turnout by CD notated. As a thought exercise, I added it all up, and the GOP seats are up 98,817 and the Dem seats are down 75,091 for a net swing of 173,908 to the GOP areas as of 10/30/25.
That said, this includes the swing seats, VA-2 and VA-7. If we allow VA-5 an 10 to cancel one another (an imperfect, but not terrible assumption though the Red seat has about 16,000 more votes right now), we are left with the hardcore base areas for each side; 1, 6, and 9 for the Rs, and 3, 4, 8, ad 11 for the Ds.
1, 6, & 9 = 364,116
3, 4, 8, & 11 = 402,841
Four Dem base seats only manage to outrun three R base seats by 60,000. That’s not bad.
VA-3 and 4 are the heavily AA seats (3 more so than 4 as the latter has a lot of white libs going up into Richmond). Indeed, 3’s turnout overall is not just lower than 4’s in both elections so far, but substantially so; in 2021, it had 32; fewer votes total. Now, five days out, the delta is 38k. Maybe the better weather will see a spike over the weekend, but early voting ends Saturday, so it’s a little late for Souls to the Polls to get black churchgoers out after services wrap up unless they plan on getting the handful of Catholic AAs after Saturday evening Mass ends.
As of today, my main concern is VA-2. Those extra 11k an growing votes are in a swingy area. Alas, we won’t know their composition until Tuesday. If it makes anyone feel better, the largest Dem seta lag is Spanberger’s own VA-7 at -25k, followed Loudon’s VA-10 at -23.7k. Those are the other two to watch closely on Tuesday for turnout if the gap doesn’t shrink much over by COB tomorrow.

The milk flowed. It was GOOD AND PLENTY. I filled the MALLOW CUP and REESE’S CUP with milk. Told them they could have some NOW AND LATER. Reese then put his cup into liquid nitrogen to freeze it solid at ZERO degrees celsius. I was a BUTTER FINGER and dropped the cold cup and it smashed on the floor with a KRACKEL sound as it fell TWIX him and me. Reese just SNICKERS as I pick up the REESE’S PIECES on the floor. They paid me 100 GRAND for the milk.These SUCKERS overpaid! What a PAYDAY for me!

Bitter, I actually agree with you. I’m now only pulling for LA since the Jays are (allegedly) Canadian. Heck, now that the NL is using DH rules, it’s not much different than the AL. I found that the Dodger organization is still having Trans award nights or whatever the F they call them, despite consistent protests from a lot of fans. I really try to separate politics from entertainment and sports, but that is one issue that really gets to me more than just raising my taxes.

GF your post, about the Dodgers, had a lot of points I agree with. The Trans events I find alienating. But, the dodgers seem to have a pattern of being politically correct in their outreach. I also root for US teams. However, the Blue Jays, IMO, have played a better game with fewer errors, and are considered the underdog to the well-financed Dodgers. All I really wanted was to have a more competitive game seven, which happened. So, may the best team win tonight!
