I read up on the interstellar comet you mentioned in the prior thread Walt, and it seems that because a Harvard prof said it could be an alien spacecraft, the world news has run with it and people on social media have made up all sorts of bizarre claims about it.
But this was just one of those pointy-headed profs who is so risk-averse that he doesn’t want to rule anything out. He should have gone all the way and not ruled out the possibility that Elvis was piloting the spacecraft, with bigfoot riding shotgun, and Walt Disney thawing out in the back seat.

HUGE WIN in SCOTUS on Admin efforts to terminate “Temp Protective Status” for nearly 700,000 Venezuelans. I’ve written previously about this fight. The Supreme Court today blocked San Fran District Judge Order, upheld by Ninth Cir., that DHS Sec. Noem lacked authority to vacate PRIOR DHS Sec. extension of TPS status thru Oct. 2026. BUT this is even bigger in terms of the fight over health care for illegals. One way the Biden Admin evaded the prohibition on health care for illegals was to classify everyone in the US on TPS as being “lawfully present” and therefore not covered by the prohibition on health care for illegal. So the 700,000 Venezuelans could get Medicaid. Now all 700,000+ Venezuelans in the US who were — and no longer are — covered by TPS are no longer eligible for Medicaid.

Additional benefit — since both temporary and permanent injunctive relief have now both been reversed by SCOTUS, the Trump Admin can proceed with immediate removal of any Venezuelan covered by either of the two TPS designations, and neither the District Judge nor the Ninth Circuit can block it.

A three-judge panel of the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals became the fifth federal court since June to either issue or uphold orders blocking the president’s birthright order. The court concluded that the plaintiffs are likely to succeed on their claims that the children described in the order are entitled to birthright citizenship under the Citizenship Clause of the 14th Amendment.”
Anybody born in the US is a US citizen, the 14th Amendment is clear about that.
I am still hoping for a 9-0 ruling by SCOTUS affirming birthright citizenship.
We should not care who the parents are or how they got here. We should care that any child born in America is given all the opportunities to become a productive citizen just like any other child.

The Constitution doesn’t always make sense. The 2nd Amendment justifies gun ownership based on a well- regulated militia. Read literally as demanded by libs, only members of the militia or its successor, the National Guard, should be allowed to own guns. Only citizens or people born in the U.S. at the time of the adoption of the Constitution can be President. Why does that matter now more than 2 centuries later?
The 3rd Amendment prohibits quartering troops in private homes? Is that still a problem?

In my view, the phrase “a well regulated militia” means the opposite of what the liberals think it does. It does not mean guns should only be borne by militia, it means that the need for a militia means citizens should be allowed to bear arms. If it meant that only militia could bear arms, then why have an amendment, the government could just issue arms like it would for an army. The correct interpretation is that militias will be formed from gun owning citizens.
But again, the key statement is “the right to bear arms should not be infringed”.
