This is important. The panel ruling was 2-1 so I was concerned maybe the full court would grant an en banc rehearing. This would be risky due to the composition of this court, still a lot of liberals.
“The D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals has surprised me: Contrary to expectations, late on Thursday, they denied the plaintiffs’ petition for a rehearing en banc (by the full court) in the USAID funding case. This follows a somewhat stunning win for the Trump administration on the matter two weeks ago, when a three-judge panel of the court vacated lower court injunctions regarding USAID funding.”
I know Chicon would prefer Trump had not appealed and instead just moved to impeach the District judge but you take what you can get.
It has moreover been impressed upon this Court that, notwithstanding the preliminary posture of an emergency docket order and an absence of complete reasoning, “when [the Supreme] Court issues a decision, it constitutes a precedent that commands respect.”
Cook’s lawyers offered an explanation to blunt the fraudulent intent that Trump and Pulte have ascribed to her over the past week. They suggested that if there were errors, she didn’t mean to deceive anyone, and no one was harmed, a standard known as materiality.

That standard seemed to have been completely ignored during Trump’s NYC fraud trial.

He was transported to a nearby trauma center for emergency treatment. Just before the crash, Giuliani had stopped to assist a woman who flagged him down as a victim of domestic violence. The comparison of Arnold and Lee is false equivalency, as I pointed out before.
Arnold chose to change sides basically for monetary gain, compounded by sour grapes. He sold out. Lee was offered the most prestigious post in the Union army, so his decision was not due to personal vanity or gain.
Lee might have chosen the wrong side to fight for due to a misplaced loyalty to his “state” of Virginia, but that does not take away the fact he was a great military leader and his place in history should not be erased.
Lee was a great military leader (who actually lost Antietam to McClellan and Gettysburg to Meade) responsible for the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans soldiers. He has American blood on his hands on the scale of Hitler, Tojo and Mussolini.
The real reason for the recent CDC resignations is that the ACIP Subcommittee on COVID 19 vaccines got approval to investigate the safety and efficacy of COVID vaccines, and they knew the gig was up, the truth was about to come out, and they would have to account for their actions. All you need to do is read the recently approved “terms of reference” for that subcommittee and it all becomes clear.
The most dangerous stage of an empire is the late stage collapse. At this point desperation meets arrogance and delusion of grandeur with an extreme desire for retribution that stems out of the realization of its collapse. That pretty much explains the Ukraine hoax and coup we did there. What slightly surprises me is the lack of opposition from the EU. I would have expected some riots and shit to happen and leaders to be replaced, but the empire has way too much control i guess
Bitter, you have to give Lee some credit for his rational surrender and extensive work on reconstruction, no? I get your animosity towards the guy but we could’ve had an endless gorilla war and a continued divided national without his role in post war unification . That has to buy him some indulgences in the Church of Bitter.
No indulgence for Lee. He should have been hanged. His work on reconstruction? Zzzzzzz He could have shortened the war by either staying loyal to the Union or just not fighting for either side.
There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. U.S. population 324,059,091 as of Wednesday, June 22, 2016. Do the math: 0.000000925% of the population dies from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant! What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death:
65% of those deaths are by suicide which would never be prevented by gun laws
15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified
17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons gun violence
3% are accidental discharge deaths
So technically, “gun violence” is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100. Still too many? Well, first, how are those deaths spanned across the nation?
480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago
344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore
333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit
119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)
So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities. All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.
This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation, or about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States have much higher rates than others. For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.
Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far? California, of course, but understand, so it is not guns causing this. It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So if all cities and states are not created equally, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.
Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths? All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime but that is the nature of crime. Robbery, death, rape, assault all is done by criminals and thinking that criminal wills obey laws is ludicrous. That’s why they are criminals.
But what about other deaths each year?
40,000+ die from a drug overdose THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!
36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths
34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities(exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide)
Now it gets good:
200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. You are safer in Chicago than when you are in a hospital!
710,000 people die per year from heart disease. It s time to stop the double cheeseburgers! So what is the point? If Obama and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease in cardiac deaths would save twice the number of lives annually of all gun-related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.). A 10% reduction in medical errors would be 66% of the total gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides…..Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions!
So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? It’s pretty simple.:
The taking away of guns gives control to governments.
The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did by trying to disarm the populace of the colonies. It is not difficult to understand that a disarmed populace is a controlled populace.
Thus, the second amendment was proudly and boldly included in the U.S. Constitution. It must be preserved at all costs.
So the next time someone tries to tell you that gun control is about saving lives, look at these facts and remember these words from Noah Webster: “Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword, because the whole body of the people are armed and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. A military force at the command of a Congress can execute no laws, but such as the people perceive to be just and constitutional; for they will possess the power.”
Remember, when it comes to “gun control,” the important word is control,” not gun.”
He could have shortened the war by either staying loyal to the Union or just not fighting for either side.”
Nobody knows if that is true or not.
Maybe the Confederates could have come up with an even better General that would have won in Gettysburg. Unlikely but not impossible. Maybe Lee would have not been a good military leader for the Union.
The fact is that Lee was not responsible for the Confederacy or secession or the Civil War.
Bitter, you have to give Lee some credit for his rational surrender and extensive work on reconstruction, no?
Bitter does not believe in giving partial credit, forgiveness, second chances, character rehabilitation and the like. It’s an all-or-nothing, hard scrabble world to him.

Wes would be proud of Jason’s defense of and praise for Lee.”
Zzzzz….
wes and I had epic battle about the reasons for the Civil War, slavery, Sherman’s march on Atlanta, Lincoln, you name it.
We were on opposite sides of every issue regarding the Civil War.
Lee was on the wrong side of history and his allegiance to Virginia over the Union was misguided.
But he was not responsible for secession, the Confederacy or the Civil War. He was not pro-slavery and he didn’t want the Union to break up. After the war he did what he could for reconciliation.
As a soldier he fought for his side honorably. I don’t hold that against him.
But he was not responsible for secession, the Confederacy or the Civil War.
He just did everything he could for secession to succeed. He was opposed to civil right for blacks and believed they were inferior and a threat to white safety – no different than most of the real Americans and the traitors.
Bitter wrote – He [Lee] was opposed to civil right for blacks and believed they were inferior and a threat to white safety – no different than most of the real Americans and the traitors.
——-
Hey Bitter, hate to burst your bubble, but so did most Northerners at the time as well. Here’s Lincoln’s take on “civil rights” for African Americans –
“I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races.” Lincoln added that he did not support Black men voting, serving on juries, holding office, or intermarrying with white people.
Lincoln further argued that a “physical difference” between the races would “forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality”.He concluded that because the races could not coexist as equals, one must occupy a superior position and the other an inferior one, and he affirmed, “I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race”. Despite these views, Lincoln maintained that opposing slavery did not require advocating for full social or political equality between races.
Fla – Hate to burst your bubble but I already posted:
He [Lee] was opposed to civil right for blacks and believed they were inferior and a threat to white safety – no different than most of the real Americans and the traitors.
I do not understand this lost cause inspired reference for Lee.
I have hated the man and his legacy since I first learned about him. I would not support tearing down his statues but I would never stop to look at one, either. If somebody wants to revere a traitor who violated his oath to the United States, prosecuted a war with the goal of secession and protecting slavery, and gave orders that lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of loyal Americans, I can’t agree with you. It is unfortunate he was not hanged.
But just because I don’t agree with his decision to join the Confederacy doesn’t mean I have to deny his military leadership and successes or erase his historical role.
And I certainly don’t agree he should have hung.
You are conflating recognition with reverence, they are not the same thing.
This may be the most alarming thing to come out of the People’s Conference for Palestine because it is a step-by-step playbook that America’s enemies could benefit from.

This follows a somewhat stunning win for the Trump administration on the matter two weeks ago, when a three-judge panel of the court vacated lower court injunctions regarding USAID funding.”

Bracing himself, Smith replied, “The bad news.”
The trooper sighed, “I’m sorry, sir, but we recovered your wife’s body in the bay this morning.”

“Giuliani was seriously injured in a car accident Saturday evening after his vehicle was rear-ended at high speed on a New Hampshire highway. According to Michael Ragusa, Giuliani’s head of security, the former mayor suffered a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple lacerations, contusions, and injuries to his left arm and lower leg. He was transported to a nearby trauma center for emergency treatment. Just before the crash, Giuliani had stopped to assist a woman who flagged him down as a victim of domestic violence. He contacted police on her behalf and remained at the scene until officers arrived. The collision occurred shortly after he resumed driving and was unrelated to the earlier incident. Giuliani was in a rental car at the time, and, as Ragusa noted, “no one knew it was him.”
“He sustained injuries but is in good spirits and recovering tremendously,” Ragusa said, adding: “This was not a targeted attack.”

The most dangerous stage of an empire is the late stage collapse. At this point desperation meets arrogance and delusion of grandeur with an extreme desire for retribution that stems out of the realization of its collapse. JUST HOW DANGEROUS ARE FIREARMS ???

–Bitter would say that conscientious objectors in WW II were agents of Hitler and wanted Hitler to win.
Bitter would say that conscientious objectors during the Vietnam War were collaborators with Ho Chi Minh and were supporters of communism.
Also
–The sanctuary cities and sanctuary states today are just like the confederates who declared that they will disobey federal laws that they disagree with.

In addition to the outbreak of WW2, Happy Sedan Day! (As in 1870, not 1914 or 1940.)
My favorite quote from that event was cited the night before by the French second in command, General Auguste Ducrot, as he spotted the Prussian campfires all along the ridges surrounding the city;
« Nous sommes dans un pot de chambre, et nous y serons emmerdés. »
(“We are in a chamber pot, and they are going to sh*t all over us”)

Most conscientious objectors were cowards. If the rest went to jail, fine.
Example of one WW2 medic to justify all of the objectors in 3…2…1…

He just did everything he could for secession to succeed. He was opposed to civil right for blacks and believed they were inferior and a threat to white safety – no different than most of the real Americans and the traitors.

No, he did everything he could for his side to win.
You theory that he was an ideologue fighting for slavery and secession are contradicted by his own words.

I don’t revere Lee.
But just because I don’t agree with his decision to join the Confederacy doesn’t mean I have to deny his military leadership and successes or erase his historical role.
And I certainly don’t agree he should have hung.
You are conflating recognition with reverence, they are not the same thing.

I will get a new Where is This? contest up soon.
