Hell, wasn’t he supposed to be shot in the head and eliminated once and for all? Wasn’t the cumulative effect of the media supposed to have Trump hopelessly trailing “”joyful Kamala” by now?

Damn, looks like arrangements will have to be made to take another shot at him, and this time hit the damn target. It’s ok, they have eight more weeks to get it done.

  29. I can’t help but comment on Vance as I took considerable grief because of my support for him early on. IMO, he was a convincing spokesman for Republican policies/values for some time, especially when being interviewed by an unfriendly press. In fact Vance reminded me of a younger more dignified Trump in his ability to stand up to relentless efforts to break him and his policy stances down. I also think he and Trump make a good team of young and old, upcoming/rich listening to middle class workers, gold star families, minorities and the poor who want to elevate themselves, becoming a part of the American dream versus being subsidized by Democrat nanny state handouts. He travels from campaign stop to campaign stop with his wife, 3 kids and dog in tow, always complimenting his wife and referencing his family in lovingly terms. Even his problems with an addict mother, a tough-as-nails grandmother, a childhood challenged by poverty is a background many can identity with – something that can be far more helpful in making a ticket seem real, authentic and relatable than let’s say a Youngkin choice would have been. I really think a lot of people are yearning for true representation from their leaders, rather than just pretty words that turn into inaction once they are in office.

  34. So speaking of “illegal immigration,” recently I went back to the town in Italy that I worked in for a number of years (when I say work, I would go once a month for over six years to the main office, and then work outside the country). It was a great, great, great town in the north where an amazing car is made ;). I stayed in the same hotel every visit for years, ate at generally the same set of restaurants, etc.

When I went back I didn’t recognize it. The Piazza where people used to congregate and was always full was empty other than all the illegal immigrants that have overrun not only Italy, but a lot of the continent. Businesses that had been there for generations were gone. It was dirty, and to be honest, had become dangerous to walk alone in.

This is what happens when the left takes over. They purposely allow this because they a. they feel it will keep them in power, b. it satisfies the guilt they are taught in school (from elementary through college) that needs to be atoned for…i guess that means by destroying their (our) country by allowing those in who destroyed their own country.

The WHO is strategizing the creation of policies and procedures that will literally put the sovereignty of countries, signing on to their rules, in their hands. These self-serving protocols, designed by the WHO, will be mandated during anything defined as a “crisis” by the WHO. Basically, in diluting cultures, rituals, communities here and abroad, by encouraging illegal settlements via open borders, we are witnessing a new world order most people don’t want.

Another interesting point, they pushed all voters to make a choice, and did not include Stein or any other candidate. Another clue that Trump is leading.

I don’t give free passes because they were “men of their time.” Hitler and Stalin were also men of their time.

  46. ”Another sad aspect of life today is we are raising a generation of victims…and victimhood is the defining nature of so many”

Victimhood is taught in schools, emphasized and ennobled by a democrat-captured press. Instead of showcasing selfless, successful role models, we highlight those having more deviant behavior. Rather than promoting a meritocracy type of society, we support more of an affirmative action, gender, race-based qualification to higher office and better job placement. Free speech has been sidelined to politically-correct, government approved alliances vulnerable to extreme censorship for those who stray. We basically are becoming more and more vulnerable to the extinction of American uniqueness and exceptionalism by the rapid encroachment of policies which the Harris/Walz duo wish to permanently establish in this country.

  47. Bitter – I have to respectfully disagree with you. Neither Hitler nor Stalin were “men of their time”. The world knew that killing millions of people was bad. It was not widely practiced, and information was shared not just locally, but globally by the time they rose to power.

You can not compare the founding fathers to Stalin and Hitler. Its false equivalency and purposely intellectually misleading. It allows for the diminishment of great accomplishments and marginalization of great individuals.

The good that the Founding Fathers brought not to just this country, but to the world (as other nations followed their example and freed themselves from colonial status). By continually focusing on the slavery issue, it allows for them, and therefore all those who followed them, to be seen in a seriously negative light. It also feeds the victimhood that permeates society today. It also enables the weak to lead.

Teach the greatness of these men. That is what was done and it led to great national pride and inspired generations. The idea now is to destroy heroes by highlighting their weaknesses, because we can not have heroes that accomplished great things today. We have to focus on the negative, on the so-called oppressed and self defined marginalized.

If you want to make the claim, and teach that “slavery” was their defining character trait, then you erase almost all of mankinds history as “slavery” has been a part of almost all cultures, (SADLY) since the beginning of time. This isn’t to marginalize the heinousness of the practice, but to demonstrate that trying to stigmatize because of it has a very large reach.

The goal of the left is to eliminate all heroes that do not meet their definition or narrative.

  74. Somehow populists having a say in a party is sometimes interpreted as a “bad” turn of events. However, a populist is literally someone ascribing to the peoples’ needs and policies, rather than simply conforming to the mandates and/or whims of government. In fact, around the world today the populist movement is resonating among large swaths of populations, closing in on election victories that have various elitists concerned about the possibility of their own power ebbing. Yes, the Trump movement does reflect the populist enthusiasm of seeking self governance and determination for themselves. It may even overlap into some of Paul’s stated policies, but remains a separate entity, a hybrid regrouping government policy and bureaucracy that’s less intrusive and modeled more in the Constitutional freedoms constructed at the beginning of this country.

Regarding parsing terminology or allocating it to Pauliac politics, popular labels like “deep state,” (usually unelected but powerful policy makers), “endless wars,” (like the Afghan war or Ukraine which has no exit plan), and “new world order,” (inferring the reach of global organizations in Brussels, the WHO, WEF, UN etc attempting to supersede the sovereignty of other countries) are real concerns for people interested in keeping their rights and freedoms intact within their own borders. Attaching the cloud of Ron Paul to people identifying and segregating such concerns is misleading, as well as a subtle way to vanquish the energy directed at pushing back at overreaching policies we want overturned.

  82. Hard to believe my Mets had a chance to move to the second position in the wild card but blew a 1-0 lead to the….Reds. WHHAAATTT? I guess I can’t complain, they won 9 games in a row. But to lose like that. They scored the tying run on a dinky hit, and then with a two strike count gave up the winning hit.

Oh well. 19 games to go and tied for the Wild Card lead and only 1/2 game back of second wild card is something I will take.

For the last 84 games (half season) the Mets have the best record in baseball (105 win pace) after being 22-33 and heading in the wrong direction.

  83. Vic, a retort to your retort: those terms are general ones, not owned by Ron Paul. I know people of all parties who refer to such labels without any affection or attraction to Ron Paul. Ukraine is being referred more and more as an “endless war” because there are no definitive limits as to our aid and involvement. Also, we do have advisors on the ground there, with perhaps more mercenary groups than the ordinary person knows about. The final parts of your post – about not liking Ukraine because it hurt Trump or hating Zelenskyy – is ludicrous. Most people supported Ukraine when it was first invaded, as they did Zelenskyy. But, after so many war-torn years, unaccountable deaths, unaudited funding, and the stench of corruption always surrounding the Ukraine government and it’s aides/officials people, especially the conservative caucus, wants limits and resolutions, not just more ammunitions, weaponry and money flying from our printing presses.

I disagree populism is bad and only represents what’s “popular”at a given time. Rather it represents what’s lacking in the governance people want and thought they were voting for. How sustainable it really is remans to be seen, as political maneuvering, lack of election integrity, self-serving politicians are always on the move to do what “they” think is best for the people, aka themselves.

  85. Populism isn’t “bad”. Generally it is “stupid”.

And Janzam’s sorry little attempt to separate populism from the stench of Ron Paul is, like we use to say in Texas, a dog that won’t hunt.

Deep state and endless wars are profoundly stupid statements.

It is no surprise an imbecile like Janzam repeats them mindlessly and yes, endlessly.

  86. Jan. We do not have mercenaries on the ground in Ukraine, and as far as “advisors,” no more than we had before (and in a normal circumstance) and less than you would think. As for the “endless war” moniker, it does not apply to a war that is barely (if that) 24 months old.

For the rest, we will agree to disagree and talk about other subjects.

BTW, by definition, “populism” is a political movement that reflects the popular issues at a time in history. It is not a lasting moment, as what is “populist” today will not be “populist” in 20 years. Remember, there have been many populist movements through our history, and they have faded to the dustbin after time.

Populism is generally associated with a leader, and when that leader fades, so does the movement.

  87. Jeff P – they are in a good position if they dispatch the Blue Jays this week, and the Nats next week. In btween they have seven games with the uncouths. If they take 4 out of 7 from the whining showboaters then they will have a good shot to win one of the wild card spots.
