if you click on my last link it is from Rasmussen showing poles taken from 7/24 to 7/31. Trump is now back in the lead, and he is leading 4-5, per Ras, as of 7/31. His lead is widening
Quemala had a disastrous end to her week given the disastrous hostage exchange and the ugly economic news yesterday and Thursday.
AFP is funding a major initiative aimed at ousting vulnerable Sens. Jon Tester (D-MT) and Bob Casey (D-PA), according to a report from the Hill.
AFP is a conservative political advocacy organization affiliated with billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch. Its ads, which will go live in Montana and Pennsylvania in the next two weeks, will bash the senators over “Bidenomics” and focus on voters in those states who say they are suffering from inflation.
Both Democratic senators are facing close reelection races. Republican challenger Tim Sheehy is leading Tester by 5 points in the latest polling. Meanwhile, according to a new survey, Casey is looking to stave off a defeat from Dave McCormick, with Casey leading him by 5 points”
Shapiro still the heavy favorite on the betting sites. But the anti-semites are releasing a lot of anti-Shapiro material that will be hard to take back later.
VictrC: I agree that there is likely “meaning” in this amazing existence. I feel fairly certain that it will go on evolving and changing many millions years after I’m dead. I don’t know if I will be around in any form after my minuscule part of that big life ends. Either way, I’ll be grateful to be a part of this thing.
U.S. to Send More Combat Aircraft and Warships to Middle East, Officials Say
Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III directed the new deployments after speaking with his Israeli counterpart.
Defense Secretary Lloyd J. Austin III on Friday ordered additional combat aircraft and missile-shooting warships to the Middle East in response to threats from Iran and its proxies in Gaza, Lebanon and Yemen to attack Israel in the coming days to avenge the death of Ismail Haniyeh, the Pentagon said. The military will send one additional squadron of Air Force F-22 fighter jets, an unspecified number of additional Navy cruisers and destroyers capable of intercepting ballistic missiles, and, if needed, more land-based ballistic-missile defense systems. To maintain the presence of an aircraft carrier and its accompanying warships in the region, Mr. Austin also directed the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln, now in the eastern Pacific, to relieve the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt in the next couple of weeks when it is scheduled to return home. Some ships already in the western Mediterranean Sea will move east, closer to the coast of Israel to provide more security, a senior Pentagon official said.
We know the war mongers in this group are getting goosebumps just thinking about another war.
Don’t ask me how Axios knows how much money the campaigns are going to spend on ads all the way up to election; when the campaigns themselves probably don’t even know.
Shapiro will sell out Israel in a nanosecond, just like he sold out his support for school vouchers after he got elected.
“Josh Shapiro has now disowned his previous criticism of the Palestinians and his IDF service has been scrubbed from his Wikipedia page. I hate to break it to Jewish Americans, but he isn’t going to have your back. He’ll be excusing pro-Hamas simps in Dearborn by next week.”
Jason, our support won’t come in the form of visible troops on the ground. It would be with air support/strikes, naval escorts of ships through the straight of hormuz, etc. It would take a full scale, multiple nation attack on Israel for us to commit troops on the ground, and no way in hell Saudi and UAE would tolerate a full scale assault by Iran.
Remember, as much as the Iranians hate Israel, they hate Saudi almost as much, and UAE as well. You’d be shocked at how many mine attacks (water) and bombs discovered before detonation happen perpetrated by iran against UAE, and to a lesser degree Saudi.
Jason – with regard to Shapiro, doesn’t matter. He can’t scrub out the ink on the IDF service and that is going to be MASSIVE non-starter with Muslims in Michigan. I am beginning to think you are correct, a Shapiro selection seals Michigan for Trump, and does nothing to help her in AZ and NV.
I also don’t get the fact that so many are ignoring that if Trump carries AZ and NV, he only needs NE-2 to win the Presidency.
While I think Shapiro is the best pick for Harris because it mitigates her image as a radical (I know, BS, but that is the conventional wisdom) I have my doubts he really helps her in PA.
I doubt he will help with black and Hispanic voters, obviously not with Muslims. On social media Asian-Indians seem irked that Harris is dissing her Indian heritage, and he won’t help with them either. While his approval ratings are around 50%, they are hardly stellar with any groups that are already not solidly Democratic.
Silverhack says a “home state VP” helps on average 1.8 points historically. Of course, that could be significant in a close election.
IMO Iran will deliver a retaliatory attack that is symbolic but not massive, as they don’t want the massive blowback that would most certainly happen and be decimated.
I read Wes’s obit this morning that was posted earlier in this thread. He and I were congenial posters with each other until the Trump phenomenon. In fact I thought we might meet in CA when he was planning a trip here to inspect a trove of books he found.. Unfortunately that never happened. At the bottom of the obit was a video of his life and family – very long because he had such a large, extended family. Anyway, noticed today marks a year since he passed away.
Jason, our support won’t come in the form of visible troops on the ground. It would be with air support/strikes, naval escorts of ships through the straight of hormuz, etc. “
wes had a lot of strong opinions, a good fit for HHR…. He voted for Daffy Duck in 2016 and for Trump in 2020. He was a solid believer in free trade and ridiculed Trump’s stupid tariffs and trade wars incessantly. He was a vociferous defender of the south, hated Lincoln and especially hated Sherman for burning Atlanta. He was very skeptical of voting fraud deciding elections way before 2020. He was a good analyst of NC elections with a good, but not perfect, in NC predictions. He was very well read and easily the greatest movie “expert” in the history of HHR. He knew his History too.
I think Bitter is doing him a disservice by saying he would have voted for Harris in 2024. While he might have voted for Biden, I doubt he would have voted for a Marxist like Harris who is against anything wes believed in. Most likely he would have not voted the top of the ticket like he did in 2016.
Despite our running disagreements and exchange of insults over the years, he was a worthy opponent.
wes enjoyed a good cigar, a dry red wine, and a rare steak. Nothing wrong with that.
Salena Zito is a good analyst of PA politics. She has some doubts about Shapiro too.
PITTSBURGH — Ray Mikesell was serving breakfast in his restaurant in the Strip District here when he first met Josh Shapiro while he was running for governor two years ago. Although Mikesell is a conservative Republican from western Pennsylvania and Shapiro is a liberal Democrat from the Philadelphia suburbs, Shapiro made a good first impression. Mikesell shared his concerns as a small businessman dealing with rising crime in the city, inflationary costs, and difficulty finding workers. Shapiro listened carefully and outlined some of his policy solutions.
“I thought he had a balanced perspective and I was impressed,” Mikesell recalled. “I really thought he would do a lot of good.”
An acclaimed local chef known for his “Sunday Supper” events that draw people from all over the region to break bread together the way families used to, Mikesell said his view of Shapiro changed abruptly when he watched a clip of him on MSNBC last week discussing former President Donald Trump.
“I’m sick and tired of Donald Trump shit-talking America,” said Shapiro.
“As soon as I heard him bashing Trump all that goodwill went out the window. It wasn’t even about him going after Trump, I mean show a little decorum, you are the governor of Pennsylvania and you are supposed to set an example, be a leader,” he said, adding that if this is the kind of vice president she would be Mikesell wants none of it.
Many independents and swing voters supported Shapiro specifically because they saw him as a pragmatist who doesn’t indulge in the nasty discourse that dominates the national stage these days. Yet the veep’s role is traditionally that of an attack dog.
In other words, what made Shapiro popular in the first place wasn’t hyper-partisan rhetoric. It was doing things like showing up in East Palestine when a train derailment disaster struck along the Ohio-Pennsylvania border. Or when a critical stretch of Interstate 95 – one of the nation’s busiest highways – collapsed in Philadelphia, and Shapiro coordinated the multi-agency response that rebuilt and reopened the highway in 12 days.”
So Zito’s point is once Shapiro becomes just another attack dog for the Dems, he loses his appeal.
BTW – Schooomer introduced the No Kings Act this week, a swipe at Trump who they claim wants to be a king or dictator, or whatever trash they want to use that day, but isn’t Comrade Czar Harris more like a King…or like a Soviet Premier in the way she was choosen?
No primary. No votes from the people. Second in command. Party Elites decide its her turn. No Nominating process. Just an anointing and an online roll call of the politburo, I mean DNC delegates, and boom… you have your nominee
Jason – He would have voted for Satan against Trump. He would have voted for anybody, including Harris, against Trump. I was genuinely sad when he died but it is dishonest to pretend he would have not followed through with his anti-Trump vote.
I forgot Wes voted for Daffy Duck. Yes, he was opinionated, loved to read and posted very informative posts. I can’t help but imagine what people look like after reading their words for a long period of time. In the case of Wes, he looked nothing like the picture I formed of him.
He said that voting for a Democrat to stop Trump was a necessary evil. He said that Trump was directly responsible for J6 and incited the violence. Stop pretending you knew him as well as I did.
I remember Wes and Jason’s analysis of him seems to be the most accurate of you folks posting theories about him.
I looked up his obit you published earlier. I prayed for his happy repose.
He was from the part of NC my family has lived in for over 300 years. I looked at his vast list of relatives and inlaws listed in his obit, and i didnt see any related kin. While his poliitics were definitely not conservative, he was a McCrory/establish RINO and he love our Southern heritage.
I did not analyze Wes. I had private conversations with him. He was going to vote for Biden or ANY Democrat over Trump. He also said that if GWB had been permitted to run for a third term, he would have voted for Biden. Accept the man for what he said.
He has a long term girlfriend. She described herself to me as his “old lady.” Wes did have a daughter and son. I noted they were not in the obituary but maybe his girlfriend did not want them or his ex-wife mentioned.
Western Civilization is dying. The 1924 Paris Olympics featured the 400 meter gold medalist and Christian missionary, Eric Liddell, while the 2024 Paris Olympics is all about men who cut off their private parts so they could beat the pulp out of women.
I don’t know. I am only reporting on the Olympics headlines I have seen. I am refusing to watch any of the coverage due to their opening ceremony that mocked Christianity.

A little to late for this election but hopefully, will stop them from letting billionaires donate thousands of times using other people names.

“Americans for Prosperity is wielding a seven-figure advertising campaign in an effort to flip two battleground Senate races this November.

U.S. to Send More Combat Aircraft and Warships to Middle East, Officials Say

Anyway, noticed today marks a year since he passed away.

wes had a lot of strong opinions, a good fit for HHR….

Could be.
