“Some of these protestors hold up signs proclaiming ‘gays for Gaza’ — they might as well hold up signs saying ‘chickens for KFC,’” Netanyahu quipped.

I guess those holding those signs want to be thrown off the roof of a 3-story building.

is Trump truly an isolationist, or just an opportunist. The Abraham accords are a big deal, and remember he pushed for military aid to ukraine
he said he was going to quit NATO, but he didn’t or wouldn’t.

if there were a war he thinks getting involved in would make him more popular, he’d send troops

Bitterlaw,
Trump was President from Jan 2017-Jan 2021
Which “strategic interests” did he relinquish?
Did Russia/any other country expand during that time?
(To 2nd question I would answer “China”, in building their artificial islands and sending out their fishing fleets into other countries areas, but not sure what we should do about that. Would need a concerted effort from many countries to stop them, but Biden did away with any work Trump had done in that area. Biden’s reasons for that were “because Trump”, which made “CG” and Robbie nod their heads in agreement, and made Bitterlaw repeat “Trump is an isolationist”.)
Bitterlaw, show your work. You say he is an isolationist – where is your evidence of that?

Both.
But if you want to pick ONE thing Trump has been completely consistent on in the last 40 years, despite his many flip flops and reinventions, it is economic isolationism and a undying devotion to the failed AFL-CIO agenda of tariffs and trade wars.
The Abraham Accords were a great accomplishment, but it speaks more to the “art of the deal” than anything else.
Now I think Trump is entirely right, the odds of Putin invading Ukraine while he was President were zero to none. Never would have happened. But that does not make him less of an isolationist. He drew a red line for Putin and one for Rocket Man because he understand the value of negotiating through strength, not weakness.

This is one of the few times I’ll disagree with Bitter; the invasion was launched at the end of February, 2022. Putin did not spend five and a half years marshaling resources. Indeed, the speed with which the Russian forces were stalled demonstrated that they did not come in with an overwhelming advantage. The forces allayed for Barbarossa were assembled in a matter of months, and that was MUCH bigger than what Putin cobbled together.
Still doesn’t change the fact that the war is Putin’s fault and he deserves ignominious defeat and exile to Siberia at best or a cold cell in the basement of Lubyanka (from which he could see Siberia anyhow).
Ceeam sodas for all. If those aren’t good enough, then a round of GFYs!

Zzzz…..
There was no “invasion force”. That was built up during the months preceding the invasion while Biden watched.
Besides, “huge invasion force” was never Putin’s plan. His plan was to decapitate the Ukrainian leadership and install a puppet regime with a quick strike on Kiev. That strike was based on taking over an airfield near the capital, landing thousands of troops, and occupying the main government buildings.
The “huge invasion force” was plan B, and that mostly failed too.

Nah, no moving of goal posts. Yes, the Russian moved a lot of troops into Ukraine AFTER there offensive on Kiev failed.
You said the invasion force was put together during Trump’s administration.
That is blatantly false. The build up of forces on the border happened during Biden’s term for several months before the invasion.
LikeLike
Yeah, that WAS a cheap shot.
The fact is Putin did not invade during Trump’s term and did so because Biden showed a lot of weakness.
Bitter can try to reinvent History if he wants, but facts are facts.
Trump is an isolationist, his views on NATO are asinine, his understanding of geopolitics is superficial.
All that is true, but the ‘Trump allowed Putin to mount a huge invasion force” is unmitigated garbage.

Here you go, Bitter, some research. Putin didn’t begin massing troops until the isolationist was out of office.
Apparently, Putin did not view Trump as an isolationist.
