Democrats Launch TV Ads Attacking BidenA new ad campaign by concerned Democrats, urging President Biden to “pass the torch,” will soon air on his favorite TV program, MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” as pressure mounts for him to step aside following poor debate performance and bleak polling figures.
In the Cold War with the Soviet Union, it was a battle between Godless communism and Christian democracy and it (partly) (supposedly) involved the desire to spread democracy”. The thinking being peoples who chose to empower the individual with political rights and freedoms and economic rights (with utmost importance of the individual) and freedoms would also probably embrace Christianity (opposite of communism politically) since Christianity also empowers the individual and elevates the individual having direct interaction with God.
True that after WWII, Japan and Germany were rebuilt by the allied powers to be democracies. And the Japanese culture was transformed to become political democracy and economically capitalistic (sorta). But they never went whole hog and embraced Christianity.
Having said that, there are MANY places/countries in the world that have centuries/thousands of years old cultures where they would never accept or adopt a democracy/capitalism/Christianity system in their own country. It just does not jive with their culture. Doomed to fail if you try spending billions to convert people of some cultures to embrace democracy.
Iraq and Afghanistan are just two more recent examples of where U.S. says we can rebuild you into a mini me politically, economically and religiously just is doomed to fail due to huge centuries old cultures differences that prevent that from happening.
The first 30 minutes of President Trump’s speech was very effective. In the rest of the speech, albeit about 20 minutes too long, he hit all the policy points that he needed to hit. Wavering independent voters will probably be influenced by the first 30 minutes, rather than the fact that it went on too long.
I have an analogy for that. Military and commercial pilots are required to pass periodic proficiency examinations . Part of the testing process is an oral exam on the aircraft systems and emergency procedures. The oral exam can go on for about 2 hours. An experienced check pilot can tell if the pilot being examined is going to pass the oral exam within the first 10-15 minutes.
I personally thought Trump’s speech was way too long. It’s been said his convention speech was 3000 words long. But, when his spoken speech was measured it was 12,000 words – essentially three-quarters was ad-libbed, spontaneously given off the cuff. My husband, however, saw nothing wrong with his speech, saying as you did, that he hit all the right points and objectives.
Other people jokingly added that his convention speech was so long (the longest in convention history) because he was interrupted in Butler, and was making up for the parts not delivered there.
There was some speculation whether or not if the assassination attempt would scare people off from attending future rallies. However, at today’s MI rally, it appears such an attempt has only galvanized a greater interest in attending his rallies. The crowd awaiting entrance into today’s venue is massive.
The fact that President Trump’s speech was too long is being obscured by the public meltdown of the Democrat Party. The first 30 minutes of the speech was enough to influence open minded voters to seriously consider voting for President Trump.
Bitter, I prefer the Gettysburg Address…..the convention speech is already dimming except for, like Marv remembers, the first 20-30 minutes.
My husband continues to have unresolved medical issues after undergoing two surgeries. However, he is now dealing with another doctor and procedure to address this ongoing problem.
President Trump pointed out that the people at the Butler rally did not run when the shots rang out. They stood up and pointed toward the shooter.
It has been said that Trump supporters would be willing to face the withering gunfire on the D-Day beaches of Normandy just so they could vote for him. Apparently, that is almost literally true.
“Israel is democratic and capitalist. I would not try to make it embrace Christianity.”

Foolish for us to build schools for girls in Afghanistan that would just be blown up a month after we finished building them. I hear Biden is now proposing using lots of tug boats to pull the Hawaiian Island over to be near California. He said that would improve the economy of Hawaii since it would not be so far away from the rest of the U.S. and people could fly there less expensively.
It is beyond odd that the SS,FBI, etc. has had NO PRESS CONF since the shooting to explain things.
–# of shell casings on shooter roof (and where those shots ended up, possibility of other shooters, explain how witnesses were saying the shooting was coming from the water tower and how some said the SS returned fire at the water tower, analysis of bullet trajectories, analysis of bullets taken from the scene and from victim and did all of thoe come from the same caliber weapon, did they do a toxicology test on shooter (which I think they should do of every assassin or attempted assassin or mass shooter–dead or alive), what did shooter do with himself after HS grad several years ago, when was it after his HS photo showing short hair did shooter start to let his hair grow long, why get Trump back UP on stage and walk across stage and down steps when they could have rolled off the back of the 3′ to 4′ tall stage and been less of a target as they went to the vehicle to extract Trump and go to hospital? and why would it not be a good idea to tow the Hawaiian island too be close to the Cali. coast?
“Crooks died of a gunshot wound to the death, the Butler County Coroner’s Office told Fox News Digital on Saturday. His manner of death was ruled a homicide.”

Lord almighty, why is this recorded as a homicide?
Every time law enforcement shoots and kills a perp it is a HOMICIDE?
“The 20-year-old was pronounced dead in Butler County, where he fired five rounds at a Trump rally on July 13 and nicked the former president in the ear before he was “neutralized” 26 seconds later.”
I saw a “reenactment” where there were 8 shots fired by him, which corresponds to the sounds when you watch the video. The last 5 were wild spray, and I had originally thought these came from law enforcement. What we might find is that these were, in fact shots by law enforcement. The final “pop”, which turned out to be the kill shot, may have occurred after he (the gunman) was hit. It will be interesting to see how many rounds hit him…if we ever get the information that is.
Crooks is nothing more than the “Lee Harvey Oswald” of the Trump assassination attempt. Based on information coming out the real sniper was the guy on the water tower who zip lined into the trees on the other side to escape. It Obvious the whole thing was an inside job with the involvement from the Secret Service, FBI, DHS and likely more. Crazy how lucky Trump is to be alive.
There are many questions surrounding the assassination attempt, including many disbelievers in the immediate FBI assessment of what went on in WI. Some are calling it the ”Epstein assassination” – getting rid of someone you want disappeared. Take away regular staff, no body cams, not following routine protection rituals or coverage – Epstein’s death was successful, Trump’s was not. I think a lot of people are saying “darn,” in the Biden and anti-Trump circles. So, gameboy, I look at your post as a believable scenario, and not a conspiracy theory as some might say.
Bitter says….”I want to know how I became the HHR villain and not a conservative when I was the only one who stepped up to save it.”
You can’t ask that here?
When you write something I don’t like or disagree with, I respond to it. Thems the rules you’ve always wanted here – it’s a rough place that’s not for everyone and no free lunch.
Or do you believe that, as the Savior of the joint, you are exempt?
Bitter, even though you and I may vehemently disagree on some issues (Ukraine), and I have called you ”mean spirited” or something like that, you aren’t anywhere near checking the villain box. Everyone here appreciates your proactive stance in resurrecting HHR, but there are definitely differences of opinions, type of presidential/VP candidates preferred, policy, and even traits of a conservative that are voiced here. You’ve kind of blessed such diversity with comments like “there’s no free lunch”……….Cream soda, zzzzzzzzz
No. I am tired of the BS that I am a Biden fan because I don’t bow to the ultimate RINO, Trump. Populist anger and isolationism is not conservatism. I believe in the Big Tent of Reagan but I will not be pushed out of it.
Just saw sandy Pensler at the Michigan rally with Mike Rogers, bowed out and endorse the latter with a big bear hug. That’s party unity right there, everyone coming together after the convention and pulling together as a team. Meanwhile, the Dems are all in disarray and trying to tamp down a rebellion.
Vic, Bitter is more nasty to Jan and Tina than he is toward Biden. He calls them names and greatly exaggerates their positions in order to make fun of them. I’ve asked him why he does that; he says HHR is a rough place that’s not for everyone, and there’s no free lunch.
When he’s treated in the same fashion, he gets pissy and posts his phone number.
I don’t know why they stay. But it’s clear that the guy running the site isn’t worried about losing regular posters.
I don’t care who stays or goes. HHR was losing members starting in 2012.
I would like more posters but I’m not in charge of recruiting. If we get an influx of Gateway Pundit conspiracy nuts and Bunus, I will hand the keys over to DW and Vic and step to the side.
Bitter whines again. It is not about the manner in which the site is administered. It is about how Bitter the poster treats people like dirt, and then has the gall to whine when he gets the same treatment.
Either quit treating others like dirt or quit whining when you feel like you are treated like dirt. You’ve been clear the former is not an option; if not, the latter should be.
Bitter does not like Trump, but has, and will, vote for him
I do not like Trump, and have said I have not in the past, nor will not in the future, vote for Trump.
*************************
Realistically, tina and Janz should be hammering me instead of Bitter.
I admire Bitter for being able to still be a Trump voter, despite not liking Trump, in the tossup state of PA. It is easier for me to be a person who will not vote for Trump, because I know Trump will win WV handily. That sure soes not make me a Biden lover, as of course, I will not vote for Biden and all the government philosophy and policy he represents.

There have always been “chain pulling” posts by person A directed to Person B just to get a rise out of them. I let the comments about my age run off my old back. Actually, I think a lot of them are funny. I do not take the comments as the poster being upset with or mean to me.
The chain-piulling comments in other posts directed at other posters often start as more gentle, and then get more fierce and mean spirited.
I have been often discomforted by that, even though the comments were not thrown in my direction.
We have in the past had truces declared. We need to reinstate that. And we need to reinstate the annual HHR picnic.
We all COULD tone down our own comments of referring to HHR poster A or B as being Biden-lover, or Putin-Lover, or Zelenskyy-lover. True, we disagree with the other posters position, but what point is it to keep that language up?
We all know that we rarely budge each other’s opinions and positions and differences–great or slight–on various issues with comments we post.

What gets my eyes rolling is comparing Trump to Reagan. Vast difference, IMO. No reasonable person could deduce that Trump is as Conservative and committed to principles and values of conservatism as was Reagan. You shouldn’t have to go beyond Reagan’s 11 commandment to see that. And Reagan was not giving huge campaign donations to liberal politicians for the decades running up to his first being elected as president.
It also concerns me as to how so many Trump fanatics seem to have blinders on as to his flaws and faults. IMO we should be supporting positions and ideas rather than blindly and 100% hooking our wagons onto a certain candidate. To the Trumpists, Trump has never done anything wrong in the past, nor does anything wrong in the present. 100% fealty from them and they demand that from every Republican. And they defend Trump like many Ds defend Biden, or Obama, or Clinton despite a mountain of evidence undercutting their support on some specific issue.
Chi whines about whining. Rather than analysis of issues, Chi analyzes me. But if the self-appointed defender of Jan and Tina feels that is his role, so be it.
–To single issue women voters regarding the abortion issue:
FIRST, The Supreme court did not ban abortion. despite what the Dems and MSM falsely tell you. SCOTUS said abortion is not a federal issue having constitutional protections. They said matters relating to abortion are up to the states. Even conservative R dominated states have now passed legislation on the state level regarding certain ‘abortion rights’.
SECOND, But regardless of how you feel about the SC decision, do you agree that a person who married a woman who was 8 1/2 months pregnant should be charged with two capital murders since the fetus/unborn baby also died? Do you oppose partial birth abortions? If so, then you are agreeing that the unborn fetus/baby should have protections at some point in the womb.
Same for those opposed to abortion, what if the only way to save the mother’s live was to perform an abortion? What if the fetus died in the womb–would you still be opposed to abortion in that instance?
It is an emotion producing issue.
But it is only one of MANY BIG ISSUES. What if a candidate is (like you) pro-abortion but puts into/wants to put into place policies that raises your taxes, causes inflation that shrinks the value of YOUR income, had disastrous policies that lead to more wars, wants to dictate what kind of car you drive and what kind of stove you can cook on, and reduces your other personal freedoms–why would you vote for them? instead of the other candidate who would not do any of those harmful things that would negatively impact your daily life? It is not in your best interests to be a single issue abortion voter.
After 2020 election, no real investigation or effort to get to bottom of election irregularities. just recount the ballots that were cast. No real effort to dig deeper.
Result: big rise in conspiracy theories and government cover up.
Trump assassination attempt, no holding of SS.FBI press conferences, etc. to explain the facts of the assassination attempt.
Result: Now, 1/3 of Democrats polled say it as a fake assassination planned by Trump. and lots of non-Dems talking about how it was the deep state attempt to take out Trump.
I used to think that I was a pretty good at politics, for a layman. But, now I admit that I have no clue as to whom the nominees for the Democrats will be or what they should do next. If it is not Biden/Harris, what process is even possible at this point? Anything that they do now will be seen as a bad decision by a sizeable number of members of their own party as well as their potential voters
If there are any wise old men or women in their party, they are probably thinking that it might be best to stay with Biden/Harris, absorb the loss and prepare for 2026 and 2028.
Again, If I were Trump, I would myself or have my people push back on the Dem attack (every 4 years) on demonize the wealthy and “big business” and tell everyone the Dems will tax the begessus out of the “the rich” and that will solve all the problems of having enough money to spend to solve all the nations woes.
If you tax 200% of the billionaires wealth (seize all their wealth) that will run the government for only a certain length of time. And when you start seizing all the wealth of the “wealthy” then you have after the billionaires money is gone, then the govt will go after the millionaires money and that will pay for govt expenses for X amount of time, then they go to people with assets of $500,000 and that will only operate govt for X amount of time. Then go after $250,000 family incomes, etc.
Again if I were Trump, here is what I would say about inflation and the Dems saying it is greedy grocery stores just jacking prices and screwing everyone.
Let;s look at farmers costs. They have to run tractors, combines, etc. Their fuel costs have doubled. They must pass that cost on. Transportation of food stuff–their pirce of diesel fuel has doubled, they have to pass that cost on. =Food processers costs (including energy costs and higher salaries they have to pay due to pressure from workers over losing purchasing power due to inflation) have gone way up, they have to pass that on.
All that is the reason your food prices have gone up 20% in just a few years.
Democrat policies of war on fossil fuels has been a major cause of run a way inflation.
Republican policies of responsibly producing and using fossil fuels and making fuel costs and heating cost, and manufacturing and transportation costs has before and will again educe those costs which will result in lower prices of good for consumers.
A broken clock is accurate 2 times a day. So the Post reported something it was told. Gateway Pundit, Conservative Treehouse, ZeroHedge are still conspiracy sites.
Are you saying that the Derp State, which sucks at being secret, tried to kill Trump on the order of Biden? Step up and own it, Chi.
I do not think there is any conspiracy of Biden, FBI, SS to take out Trump.
I do think there is a lot of ineptness and stupidity in government agencies. and govt operations.
Just like the request to add 10,000 more Nat. guard troops for Jan. 6 that was denied by Nancy Pelosi. Many feel, Pelosi denying the request was part of a plan to set up Rs and Trump supporters to invite them to storm the Capitol and make MAGA.Trump look bad.
But she was afraid it was bad optics of 10,000 troops ringed the bdlg., and also I read somewhere, that she feared the N.G. would be favorable to Trump. they did not provide enough security to protect the Capitol Blg, due to lack of foresight and bungled decisions by higher ups in govt.
IMO, not part of the deep state cabal. But part of regular govt ineptness.
Sme with the dumb ineptness of SS to secure the Trump campaign site in Butler, PA.
Peggy Noonan has been a conservative writer who distanced herself from the Trump movement…until the recent convention. She has had somewhat of a political epiphany, making some grand gestures of acceptance, even admiration, in her most recent WSJ opinion piece.
”Why did Mr. Trump pick Mr. Vance? For intellectual heft? Sure—he’s policy-focused and fluent. As an attack dog? It’s not as if Mr. Trump needs one but sure, Mr. Vance, in his brief political life, has shown he isn’t shy to pull off the scab. But he is interesting and something new, and the choice strikes me as revealing about Mr. Trump. When he first ran, and in the first years of his presidency, he flailed about because he didn’t know the implications of his own policies. Some of those policies were new to him, a grab bag based on whatever the crowd cheered. In choosing Mr. Vance, Mr. Trump is saying: I know and have embraced a specific policy approach grounded in particular principles and assumptions, and I will institute it. Trumpism has journeyed from the chaotic to the intentional.”

Tell me who’s winning right now…

Vic, Bitter is more nasty to Jan and Tina than he is toward Biden. He calls them names and greatly exaggerates their positions in order to make fun of them. I’ve asked him why he does that; he says HHR is a rough place that’s not for everyone, and there’s no free lunch.
When he’s treated in the same fashion, he gets pissy and posts his phone number.
I don’t know why they stay. But it’s clear that the guy running the site isn’t worried about losing regular posters.

If I were Trump here is what my message would be:

VictrC,
I used to think that I was a pretty good at politics, for a layman.

Then explain the other option available

She has had somewhat of a political epiphany, making some grand gestures of acceptance, even admiration, in her most recent WSJ opinion piece.
https://archive.is/2024.07.20-010405/https://www.wsj.com/articles/a-trumpian-triumph-in-milwaukee-republican-national-convention-2024-election-0230db27
