I always wonder what makes somebody vote for the candidate of one party for one office and a candidate of another party for a different office.

Looking at the poll further, it seems is the Independents vote. They go more for Trump and even bigger for Brown.
Independents
Pres: Trump +6
Sen: Brown +16
But yeah, I get your point. Someone says, “yeah, let me go vote for Trump to clean up this mess, except that I will also vote to stop Trump from cleaning up the mess”

But given some of the more recent OH senate polls, and given this is Marist, this poll isn’t that bad for Moreno. I still give Moreno the slight edge.

so I just checked the polymarket betting odds…
OH Senate
🟥 Moreno: 52%
🟦 Brown: 48%

And once again, I would gladly swap this OH poll, the FL poll, and a player to be named later for ONE poll of New Mexico.

A poll of NM would be interesting. I suspect it is a hard state to poll; as it has an interesting demographic. There are many military personnel. There’s also a large group of commune, starving artist types in Taos. Add in a large Hispanic community (decent numbers of native Americans, too), and you might have a challenge to get a representative sample.

Bitter,
Why people vote the way they do…
One poll I recently saw was that HALF of the Biden voters say they will vote for Biden is BECASUE THEY HATE DONALD TRUMP.
Sounds about right to me.

As long as Trump is on the ballot, Trump Himself (and all the goofiness that swirls about him) will be a big issue. THAT is why I desperately wanted the Rs to pick some other candidate. Then, the debte would be about ISSUES, and not Trump and Trump mess things.

Bitter,
BTW, thought I decided NOT to publish my 300+ page book about growing up in my little town, I decided to begin posting the book, chapter by chapter, on Facebook. I’m up to chapter 18 out of bout 50 chapters.
You can access the chapters by searching my name on Facebook and accessing my posts, or by joining a Facebook group called “Hedgesville and Historic Environs”. But that group is slow in approving the chapters and only have about 6 or 7 posted on that site so far.
You might get a kick out of Chapter 17 and especially Chapter 18–written by my late brother n response to some of my Chapter 17.

Walt, I don’t disagree. I was for DeSantis. If, and its a big IF, Trump can be disciplined enough to focus on the issues, eventually the haters and sceptics of him will give him another look and it should be enough.
But I said months ago, that with Trump we are doing the election the hard way. DeSantis would have been doing the election the easy way.

One thing I find interesting from the comments is an idea that if we just had another candidate, the election would be about the issues. No it wouldn’t. No matter which R was going to be nominated, they would be portrayed as a minority hating, homophobic, racist, nazi who was a threat to democracy. RDS would have been absolutely cast in this model, and would be the “book burner/banner.”
Trump has wayyyyyy more baggage, and could screw up a date with Upton/Sweeney, but… don’t delude ourselves into thinking that it would be any different with any other candidate. Look how they portrayed Reagan. BTW TRUMP IS NO REAGAN!

Apparently the Dems are putting a lot of faith and hope that Biden cleans Trumps clock in the debates. They say he crushed Trump in 2020 and had one of the most energized and memorable state of the union addresses in generations (yes…they are really saying that), and believe the nation will see Trump and realize hes the feeble one.
They also truly believe we are in an amazing economy, and that when Americans are reminded of the Trump economy, they will see how horrible it was, and vote biden.
I kid you not.

I saw a great ad for Trump the other day.
Went with my wife to the grocery store, and what a shocking 30 second ad I saw while swiping my credit card for just three items, over $60, when four year ago it would have been less than half that.
