Elway was a great QB for the Broncos.
Don’t know how good he is at polling.

In 2016 Elway’s final poll of WASHINGTON state was:
Hillary 48 (+17)
Trump 31
Final results:
Hillary 54 (+16)
Trump 38
So they were at least in that poll pretty spot on, and that’s what I recall about their reputation further in the past.

Friday fun:
Which of the following was NOT spoken by Biden:
A) O Earth Rider, thanks for the Great Lakes
B) Putin may circle Kyiv, but he’ll never win the hearts of the Iranian people
C) [Nancy Pelosi] helped rescue the economy in the Great Depression.
D) Newt Gingrich was named after a fish, you know, the newt–a small salamander.
E) Stand up Chuck, let ’em see you. Oh, God love you. What am I talking about.

Of course his birth name is Newton, but that’s not much better.

I actually thought Newt was short for Newton.

Ah ok, so it was Newton.
Still weird for a first name.

The Bronx event yesterday was not only surprising as to its size, but also its significance in DJT attracting such a diverse, receptive crowd in an area most republicans would never venture. The threat of a counter protest during the Bronx rally all but evaporated, with only a couple hundred people showing up having hardly any exposure. Today some pundits are saying even Antifa are too frightened to protest in the area of the Bronx where the speech was held. Initially Trump called for a “meet and greet” event. However, the response was so great it was renamed a “rally.” And, the permitted number of 3,500 evolved into 25,000 to 30,000. One older woman interviewed was asked if she supported Trump. Her face instantly scowled and she instantly said “no!” However, she added she liked his policies, and even though she was a dem would vote for him based on his policies not his personality.

So we get back to the secret of Trump’s success, which is that he appeals to working class voters. If you look at the videos of the rally, the vast majority of the attendees were working class and/or minorities.
One woman said “what they are doing to Trump is what the system has always done to us”.
Now, I understand the frustration of the Dems and the TDS morons, how can a billionaire who owns Trump Tower and Mar El Lago and his own Boeing 757 identify with the working class? They can’t get over it, and it shows when Gov. Hochul calls the people at the rally “clowns”, even though most probably voted for her ticket.
I think a lot of that “appeal” is hypocrisy and bad policy, but it doesn’t matter what I think. What matters is that the R party needs to be populist and needs a wider base to remain relevant.
Trump brings that dynamic to the table because he knows how to tap into it. Nobody else does, at least not yet.
In 2016 I was convinced anybody could beat Hillary except Trump. It turns out I was wrong, only Trump could have beaten Hillary.
In 2024 I thought the Golden Calf was the best candidate to beat Biden, not Trump. I still think that, but I certainly give Trump a better chance of winning than I did a year or even 6 months ago.

UN court orders war criminal Bibi to halt Rafah operation
“ICJ Ruling: “Under the genocide convention, Israel must immediately halt its military offense and any other action in Rafah which may inflict on the Palestinian group in Gaza conditions on life that could bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part.” The ICJ ruling follows South Africa’s emergency request to stop Israeli operations amid a severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, emphasizing the need to protect Palestinians from actions that could lead to their destruction under the Genocide Convention. The ICJ, also known as the World Court, is the principal judicial organ of the United Nations. It adjudicates disputes between countries and issues binding rulings based on international law.”

I did not like nor did I “support” Trump during his first presidential run until he became the official R nominee. After that it simply became a “binary” choice between him and Hillary. Unfortunately Jason Slava Ukraini excoriated everyone who made that choice, just like he now does with anyone finding fault with indefinitely giving aid to Ukraine, in lieu of our own dire need for “aid” here within our own borders.

Bunu, why do you hate Jews so much? Why do you hate America so much?
It’s a shame that these leftists and cowardly Paul supporters dont know what a genocide is.
Armenia – That was a genocide
Cambodia – Khmer Rouge, Pol Pot – that was a genocide
Rwanda – 600,000 Tutsi’s killed in three months. That was a genocide
Ukraine – over 5,000,000 killed by your guy Stalin in the 1930’s
Jews – Of course your God, Hitler (who I am sure Ron Paul prays to each night) how many were killed, with your approval Im sure if you had been alive
Palestinians – oh wait…never happened. Their population has grown more than 10x in the past 50 years.

And Schumer as well. He has no right to demand regime change in another country.

And sorry, but the UN’s court doesn’t issue “binding rulings.” And if you think its wonderful to have some world court telling America what to do, then why don’t you go join your komrads in Gaza or some middle east dictatorship where you can watch them throw dissidents off the roof.

A turning point in the 1980 election for President was during the Winter Olympics, during the pool play round against communist Czechoslovakia, when the hard-nosed US hockey coach Herb Brooks watched as a Czech player, during a stoppage of play, demolished American star player Mark Johnson with a cheap shot.
As the crowd booed, and Johnson lay on the ice, the scene epitomized the state of political affairs and the malaise of the Carter Administration. The communists could do whatever they wanted. Their role was to subjugate, and our role was always to roll over. They got to play professionals, we were forced by unfair rules to play amateurs. They got to bully the world with their plan of worldwide communist domination, and we were supposed to submit.
Then ABC Sports captured the moment the Czech player circled around near the American bench, and Coach Brooks yelled curses at him, saying I’m going to ram that stick down your throat. The American spirit was still alive. An American stood up and said, ENOUGH!
Al Michaels, commented, “Woah, an inglorious moment for Herb Brooks,” but it was actually a glorious moment.
Enough of Jimmy Carter foreign policy.
Enough of his crippling inflation.
Enough of his blaming America first.
44 years later…
Enough of bunu spouting antisemitism.
Enough of Biden’s dangerous foreign policy.
Enough of his crippling inflation.
ENOUGH of his putting Americans LAST and everyone else first.
That is what you heard and saw at the Bronx rally yesterday. May true Americans all over the country stand united as one and say ENOUGH! We won’t put up with this any longer.

I saw the story about the murder of married American missionaries in Haiti (23 and 21 years old) by gangs. A strong President would send overwhelming force to Haiti to protect and evacuate Americans. If Haitian gangs get wiped out in the process, zzzzzzzzz.

“This past week, Haley not only endorsed Trump, but Trump indicated that there will likely be a place for her in his next administration, clearly moving on from the primary rivalry they had.
“Well, I think she’s going be on our team because we have a lot of the same ideas, the same thoughts,” Trump told a local New York area cable station the day after her endorsement. “We had a nasty campaign, it was pretty nasty. But she’s a very capable person, and I’m sure she’s going to be on our team in some form, absolutely.”
