Biden’s Job Approval woes Continue

This week a number of new job approval polls came out (Gallup, Quinnipiac, and others), and the average gap in job approval just stubbornly does not get better for Biden, regardless the cheering of the media, pundits wish-casting a “Biden Surge” and talking up the “recovered economy” and so on. It’s not working.

Below is an update on what the numbers mean, against the last 50 years of 1st term presidents running for re-election. Today is day 1,193 for Biden in his presidency, and you can see how his net job approval compares with the presidents who have gone before him. As you can see from the chart, Biden must improve his numbers. But even presidents who were younger, and in their prime, struggled to change the narrative in the final six months. The election day net job approval only tends to change in the direction its already headed.

  8. BL, I am generally in favor of aid to Ukraine, but I also want to know what our strategy is. It is, to say the least, troubling that Biden has not addressed the nation about what the goal is in Ukraine (except to yell at Republicans during SOTU for not voting for aid yet). A prolonged war of attrition is not something we can financially support indefinitely. There has to be a strategy for ending the war. I know it won’t be easy, but we elect presidents to find solutions to these types of complex problems.

Once again, kind thanks for keeping this site running.

It’s one thing to support Ukraine’s aid package. But, to deny the fact this aid is primarily unmonitored is to live in La La Land. Chip Roy, who undoubtably has more knowledge about the aid distribution than anyone here, has already cited the majority of aid given has been unaccounted for. However, those here then discredit him as an “isolationist,” giving them excuses to continue living in the fantasy that “Ukrainian citizens” are the ones being helped, not Ukrainian officials profiteering off of our tax dollars.

  15. Ukrainian war fatigue is something overlooked by people wanting to infuse the conflict with more money. Nonetheless, civilians are fleeing the country to escape the front line killing fields.

“A lot is written every single day about how overpowered the Ukrainians are in their fight against the ever-strengthening Russian Federation forces.

But now, the most pressing issue of the absolute lack of manpower by the Kiev regime is coming to the forefront of public opinion.

About a million military-age males have fled the Ukrainian territory seeking to avoid military service which has become in many ways a death sentence.

Not only that, but as much as 100 thousand troops have reportedly deserted their positions”

  19. ”The aid is overwhelmingly military equipment. You know that”

You don’t know, Bitter, anything about how much military equip is involved in that aid – only taking nuanced word from those peddling the aid package.

Regarding dead Ukrainians that are acceptable – none as far as I’m concerned. However, for you, it doesn’t seem to matter as long as a win can be accomplished by a country whose populace is being forced to fight.

    Like

  20. Jan, a vast amount of the aid is in the form of equipment, not cash. As well, from that equipment a vast majority is American equipment, which means jobs for Americans, tax revenue for America, increases sales for American companies, as all that equipment, once “sold” to the Ukraine, needs to be rebuilt.

I do know this from first hand experience.

  21. Lol, means shortages for stuff we need for our military.

    The warmongers saw $$$.

    Like

  22. Vic, I asked you this question earlier – do you work for the arms industry?

Also, making equipment for war purposes is an economic reason generically used to “promote” war. I’ve read it will take the US years to build and replace many of the armaments given to Ukraine, digging into our own reserves to do so including ammunition. We also don’t have the manufacturing capability we once had to readily produce more armaments, leaving us more vulnerable should we need munitions for our own needs – a possibility that is not unreasonable considering the volatility now present world-wide.

    Like

  23. Tina, we won’t have shortages. A lot of the weapons that are heading there have already been in stock for quite some time, and would need to be replaced eventually, sooner rather than later.

The problem we face is that what do we do. Give up on the Ukraine and then allow Russia to establish foothold in what was supposed to be the buffer between them and NATO? I understand people are concerned about the amount of money we have spent, and where it could have been used, but a. that money was NEVER going to the border. That is a direct line from the border to the ballot box for Dems, and they are never going to willingly give that up. b. see a over and over again. The Dems do not want a safe border, they want to dilute all the voting power they can in Red states.

J6 Antifa protester get 7 years.

I hope that is alright with Tina and Janzam, but maybe he is just another “victim” who was “coerced” and “invited” to attack police officers, trespass the Capitol, destroy public property and steal personal and private property.

Maybe they want to give him a pass too, right?

“John Sullivan, aka JaydenX, a 29-year-old from Utah, was sentenced on Friday for his role in instigating the January 6 Capitol riot. He’s been in custody since his conviction in 2023 on five felony and two misdemeanor charges for obstructing the joint session of Congress, civil disorder, and carrying a knife into the U.S. Capitol.

The government sought a seven-year prison sentence, one of the longer terms handed down to January 6 defendants. U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth sentenced Sullivan to 72 months, or six years, in prison, and three years of supervised release. Sullivan will also pay $2,0000 in restitution, and Sullivan will lose approximately $90,000 in profits he made selling footage of the riot.

Sullivan, who pretended to support Trump while being a leftist activist with ties to Antifa and BLM, made statements revealing his true intentions, saying, “I brought my megaphone to instigate s***” and to “make those Trump supporters f*** s*** up.” The government argued that Sullivan went to the Capitol with the “goal of inciting the crowd,” and to “foment anarchy.”

Once again, the only people responsible for the actions of the protesters was the the protestors. They were solely responsible but also overcharged.

  52. The J6 example used, John Sullivan, was one of a handful of provocateurs on site at the J6 protest. In his case he was an Antifa linked guy, traveling to DC to make trouble, and selling his riot footage for profit to the media. Sullivan was far afield, though, from representing the majority of people honestly protesting an election full of controversial irregularities. Furthermore, there are still people jailed for 3 + years awaiting trial mainly based on “trespassing.” Between the time these people have been in jail, without any due process, other rioters, BLM members, violent border crossers etc have been jailed and then immediately released without consequences. The bland outcry here to the governmental overreach and injustices being committed in their own American backyard is stunning.

Rather, all support goes to a flagging country incrementally becoming a dictator- type nation, filled with civilians too afraid to protest lest they be imprisoned themselves – one whose parents spend what they can to get their military age children out of the country to avoid conscription.

    In the meantime:

”While the new US military aid package will diminish the firepower disparity against Kiev in the short run, and the new mobilization laws will diminish the dire lack of ‘human resources’ in the long run, the collapsing morale of the troops seems to have no antidote in sight.

    Meanwhile, Russia advances. Fast.”

  64. I cannot fathom what is so hard to understand about this. If you want to secure the border, then you must elect Trump to the presidency. There is NO OTHER WAY. You could authorize Biden to spend, 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 on the border, and he would not actually spend one penny to improve the border security.

So there is NO POINT to all these stupid calls for border spending until Trump becomes the president.
