Apparently the white house has pushed back on the critics of Biden who pointed out that his uncle was not eaten by cannibals. Biden was just caught up in an emotional moment, and his words were ‘symbolic’, so how dare you criticize him!!
That’s even better than Bill Clinton’s it depends on what the meaning of “is” is.

So apparently, we need federal spending on some sort of interpretative device that will signal when the president’s words are real and when they are just symbolic. Otherwise, we could get in a heap of trouble.
Biden: Push the big red button to nuke the world!

Biden: What are you doing? My words were just symbolic!

Trump deserves no more and no less “respect” than any other politician. I think any fake “moral reservations” about Trump are stupid. Is he “less moral” than Kennedy, Obama, the Clintons or Biden? Let’s get real.
But I will say this about him.
Among politicians who actually try to do what they say they will do he ranks in the top 95%.
My problem with that is that I don’t agree with a lot of what he says he will do.

Being a “Republican” doesn’t mean much anymore. Republican used to be equivalent to “conservative” in actions and values. Being the gatekeepers of spending was one of those values, as well as focusing on family, honoring American customs, valuing patriotism. I would add keeping schools as places of learning, not indoctrination, and safeguarding biological gender identity. Upholding our enviable Constitutional rights and freedoms and maintaining safety thru equal/fair law and order implementation. None of the above, though, seems relevant to our current Republican representatives. They do nothing and seem to believe in less than nothing. So, Trump not being a certifiable “Republican,” during these days of bogus Republicans, might be a good label to wear.

Being a Republican always meant National Defense, our military and ensuring our allies were safe was number one on our list. Sadly, the coward Ron Paul followers infiltrated the party, and filled it with the isolationist mantra. For them it was based on fear (because God forbid they would have to leave their moms basement and defend freedom), and anti-semitism (the whole rothschilds, Fed, Israel, bankers mantra).
Too many conflated that with being conservative on spending, without realizing that most of our foreign aid comes in the form of military equipment made here in the USA, by American workers who get paid from their American companies, so the money basically recirculates here.

When I became a Republican, shortly after I arrived in this country, I was attracted to a party that was:
For limited government
Low taxes
Pro fiscal responsibility
Pro-business
Pro free trade
Pro free markets
Pro personal responsibility
Pro merit based society
Pro free enterprise
For a strong military second to none
Willing to use military in defense of our interests, our allies, and freedom around the world
Pro American exceptionalism
I left the R party because it does not really represent any of these values/ideals anymore.
If you look at Ron DeSantis (aka Golden Calf) you can see he believes in some of that. That is why I viewed him as far and away the best choice.
Trump doesn’t believe in any of it. That is why he will be the nominee, because his base which is the majority of the R part doesn’t believe in any of it either.

Do you work for the armament industry, Vic? It seems your basis for aid seems to end up in supporting those making weapons of war. Frankly, though, there is no absolute figure being given how much of that Ukrainian aid is going into their military or into the pockets of government officials, pensions etc. Also, the “Paul blame game” seems more you’re interpretation of why a preponderance of people are now not supporting elongating the Ukrainian War, in lieu of a much more pressing national security issue on our own border.
For instance, 700 Chinese nationalists crossed over the border into the San Diego area of Southern CA. in one week! Since January of 2024 over 24,000 Chinese Nationalists have invaded our country, mingling among the millions of those from countries (many hostile) across the world. Giving that money to Ukraine, without a large portion going to protect our own border, was a myopic, moral failure of the Republican House. When, not if, we have a major terrorist attack here because of this Republican laxness, where will we flag our lapse of National security foresight —-> in Ukraine or the borders of America?

Dave Fischer, the attorney who represents Thomas Caldwell in the DC Oath Keeper case, put forth a very interesting defense theory in the NY trial brought by Alvin Bragg. Dave’s theory is published in Julie Kelly’s Declassified Substack yesterday. Dave’s point — which has now popped up with a legal commentator on MSNBC who voiced çoncern — is that it is one thing to “prove” the supposed hush money scheme involving payments to Daniels, but that is not the crime charged. The crime charged is making “false entries” in the business records of Trump Inc. about those payments. The opening statement by the DA yesterday had very little — almost nothing other than Cohen — that shows Trump himself played any role in any “Entries” into Trump Inc business records. Cohen sent legal invoices — those aren’t Trump Inc. business records. Trump paid Cohen with personal checks — not Trump Inc. business records. To the extent Trump Inc. docs have any “false entries” Bragg is going to need to show Donald Trump’s personal involvement in those entries being made. Based on the opening statements, he may not have any evidence showing that.

Poor Jan. She still believes that the US border is not secure because of military aide to Ukraine. Just as Putin is solely responsible for the war in Ukraine, Biden is solely responsible for the US border not being secure.

And Speaker Johnson could have authorized 1,000,000,000,000,000 to secure the border, but not one penny would get past Biden’s desk. If you want to secure the border, elect Trump. He may or may not do it, but Biden for sure won’t.
I don’t understand why so many expect the Republican House Speaker to exercise powers he doesn’t have.

“Jan” believes the Ukrainian aid package should have been withheld until a serious border security package had been developed, passed and signed for our own border. To continue with the refrain that Ukraine’s problems outweigh our own national security ones, that nothing can be done with a small House majority at hand, is unbelievably small-minded. It also questions,Bitter, your own staunch Republican credentials, voicing how you support securing our border as you override comments of others wanting it now, and having Ukraine wait until it is done.

However, I do see his answers in light of being a candidate for the presidency, dogged by constant controversy, putting him in a position of walking a finer more moderated response line. Community Justice Exchange set up a “bail and legal defense fund” for those arrested during last week’s A15 protests. The protests targeted major airports, highways, and bridges in dozens of U.S. cities including San Francisco, Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia. Their explicit goal was to disrupt economic “choke points” to maximize financial disruption, as explained on their website.”
