Overturning Roe vs. Wade to return it to the states was always a legitimate policy for rabid prolifers, of which I am one.
Senator Orrin Hatch, 10 years after the original decision, got the Hatch Amendment to a 50-50 vote in the Senate with all prolife senators supporting it. The idea was that Reagan’s VP. G.H.W. Bush would vote for it and get the issue returned to the states.
However, Nellie Gray, President of the national March for Life, who held a nothing but a Human Life Amendment was good enough view, convinced Senator Jesse Helms to switch his vote, which caused the amendment to fail. This was the last time that this approach, fully prolife and reasonable, had a chance.
I know this to be a fact, as I lived through it, watched it, and when I arranged to have Nellie speak at my parish about 12 years later, she recounted the story to both myself and my pastor at a private dinner later.
I have been a prolife activist for almost 50 years, it defines my politics. Trump’s position is fully a prolife position, although it takes an approach that doesnt sit well with many prolife activists who get donations, volunteer hours,etc. by their extremism.
Trump is going to win, bigly as he would say. Let nitwits and extremists rant and rave on both and all sides, he made a wise decision that is fully consistent with LIFE!

Five more sections of the fence bit the dust.
Ran out of steam…and daylight…and paint.
Five gallon container did 15 sections of fence (one side)
I have 97 sections of fence X 2 sides equals 194 fence sections total. Plus, an 8-foot gate and a 4-foot gate. So lets call it 198 sections.
I am too tired to do the math.
The 5-gallon container cost $290.
Somebody figure out how many more 5-gallon containers of paint I still need to get and times that by $290.
I play bridge tomorrow so I get most of the day off until 3 p.m. or so. Then can go to Lowes to get more paint.

What I own has nothing to do with helping Putin. Not funding Ukraine will help bring this senseless war to a conclusion, saving untold lives of Ukrainian citizens who have less and less say in Zelenskyy’s increasingly suppressed rule. Looking at the side of the exhausted populace is something gong-ho warriors here don’t ever seem to consider. It’s all about someone else’s son, husband or father being dragged to the front lines, waiting to be chewed up by Russian artillery, while looking endlessly for “winning” a battle they are completely outmanned.

I have not.
I started at the worst possible section ON PURPOSE. Raised flower beds where the board fence is 6 inches lower than the flower bed. Trying on my hands and knees to stain the subterranean lower 6 inches of the fence by brush all the while being mindful of not ruining all the plethora of flowers that are starting to come out of the ground means extra work.
I have another 8 fence sections that are the backs of even MORE of the wife’s flower beds. THEN it will be smoother sailing as the other. The other 20-some sections of fence are much less problematic. Except for a couple, just grass on the inside of the fence sections. AND ALL the OUTSIDE of the fence is just lawn and grass.
I will whip out those fence sections much faster–since I don’t have to worry about thinking where I am stepping or having to continually relocate the poles holding the 8-foot-long plastic barrier as the rest of fence angles off far from the road.
I am getting better with sprayer the more I use it. Managing the dial for adjusting pressure, and better at using full, or less than full, throttle on the gun. Another time-consuming part today moving of the plastic and metal pole support barrier for each fence section I did today that mostly bordered the neighbor’s yard (or closest the main road) so I would not spray their yard (and white fence, black dog, and three little girls) or inadvertently spray passing cars 12 feet away. Another issue was the continual thinning of the paint/stain to the required consistency recommended by the manufacturer of the spray gun.
I think they are calling for rain here the next couple of days.
Thankfully, I play bridge tomorrow, and Friday I have a Noon-1:30 p.m. meeting.

Wife and I also have social engagements on the calendar, plus my older sister in NH nursing home is failing and now under hospice care and we fly up to visit her the last week of April.
Plus, wife’s niece’s 70-year-old husband (NC) just passed today (has been in hospital or rehab EVERY day since later part of November (4 different hospitals, multiple heart surgeries, strokes, complications, more surgeries, more strokes).
Plus, the guy we have been helping for more than a year and who lives at the Rescue Mission for over a year was finally supposed to get a subsidized apartment in early April–but he has SUBSTANCIALLY overdrawn his bank account (gets a $1,200 monthly SS disability check) and we will NOT be moving him out of the Rescue Mission and his stuff is storage (and here) to apartment on Monday as originally planned. He has no money to pay the first month rent. The saga of Charles continues…
