Vic it’s good you can see the absurdity in what is happening with this heavy-handed fine. I keep wondering how the Dems are able to get away with so many scary rulings, attaching punishments so out of proportion with the alleged “crime.”
It’s worrisome because if this is how our legal system is allowed to act, then everyone is susceptible to be brutalized “under the law,” as it’s serviced under a dem governance

SCOTUS seems skeptical about the “censorship” argument.
Several of the conservatives don’t seem convinced.
That being said you don’t really know how they will vote based on the questions.

My problem is not so much that the government has the right to try to influence public opinion “for the good of the country”.
I can see scenarios where this would indeed be in the country’s interest. That also seems to be the gist of the questions conservative justices are asking.
My problem is when the “influence” is based on information the government KNOWS is wrong and it is done just to further a political agenda.

This morning the Supreme Court held oral argument in the case that is now styled Murthy v. Missouri. C-SPAN has posted audio of the oral argument here.
The case arises from the government’s “encouragement” of censorship by the social media platforms, as documented in the Twitter Files. We have followed the case as it has wended its way through the district court to the Fifth Circuit and then to the Supreme Court. We (I) have been pulling for the plaintiffs.
The Supreme Court has already entered an order staying the narrowed preliminary injunction that had been fashioned by the Fifth Circuit while the case is pending before the Court. Justices Alito dissented from the stay. In his dissent he was joined by Justices Thomas and Gorsuch. I thought the Supreme Court stay was a bad sign of the likely outcome of the case.
In the event this morning, the plaintiff/respondents complaining of the government’s encouragement of censorship on social media platforms suffered a bloodbath, if I may use that word in its colloquial sense. If I am not allowed to use that word in its colloquial sense, I would say that the plaintiff/respondents had a bad day in Court.”

The whole point of free speech is to be able to express an opinion, post information, having a governmental response saying it’s wrong, rather than giving them the authority to deem it wrong and then censoring it from ever being submitted to the public for their review.

I had forgotten about that earlier ruling, by Barrett & Kavanaugh, joining the liberal justices staying the 5th circuit preliminary injunction. With that in mind my optimism for a good outcome has dimmed.

Full disclosure. I only support Dolan because he seems to be the best candidate to win the GE.
I would support Moreno for the same reason even with his 2nd amendment views.
This seat could determine the balance in the senate.
It could determine whether we have federalized election laws. Whether we have citizenship for millions of illegals. Whether we spend trillions more on the climate change rathole. Whether the federal bench gets another slew of conservative judges or not.
But Michigan Guy is a moron who thinks calling Rs “Democrats” is going to help win the senate seat.
