HHR polling aggregator updated to show how Maine’s two EVs could be critical in this election. The average is Trump +3.7 due to the extreme age of the last two polls (October of last year). So the new one gets 75% of the share, and the old ones split 25%.

People have asked what the handle of the unidentified anonymous poster is. Tina signs her post and Bruno kind of self-identifies with his content. Who I think the real anonymous is by their annoying plus anti-Trump jargon is “Robbie.” He gave himself away by making a reference to Wes, a person who Robbie talked about after his death. Few here talk about Wes with the exception of bitter, and sometimes Jason.

Some posts are only by IP addresses. Others use e-mail addresses. Not sure if Robbie had an e-mail address so I have to look back at early threads since May. Robbie was not shy about using his handle.

And just for the record, in 2020, Pan Atlantic Research’s final poll of MAINE was Biden 50 / Trump 40. Biden won the state by 9 points. So pretty spot on for this pollster.
And by my count there were 22 polls of MAINE done in 2020. Biden led in EVERY one of them. Now in 2024, three polls so far, and Trump leads in 1 of 3.

Here is Trump’s formula to win:
Win every state he won in 2020. I don’t see any at risk for the moment, North Carolina was the closest he only won by 1.5%. That gives him 232.
Win GA and AZ and the Nebraska district. That gives him 260. GA will be easier than AZ.
Win WI for 270. Or win NV and NH for 270. Or win VA for 273. Or win PA for 280. Or MI for 276.
In my view the last 10 EVs will be a tough challenge.

Gee, so many suspects. So many Bush-McCain-Romney general election voters from the HHR of old, dating back to 2004, who have splintered away from you other folks because of Trump. But some people think the Republican Party is rock-solid united behind Trump and that he has this election in the bag.

The R party is pretty much rock solid behind Trump. In addition to those who support him, there is a large contingent of R voters who don’t think he is the best choice but nevertheless know another Biden term would be an unmitigated disaster and will vote for him. The Never Trumpers and TDS morons who will not vote for him or vote for Biden are probably 10% or less.
But election in the bag? Most of us here at HHR don’t believe that.

But of course Trump is only a symptom, not the cause. He was smart enough to be the only candidate in 2016 to see the change happening in the R party, which had already become more populist and isolationist well before he launched his candidacy. Trump hasn’t created any new R establishment, he is just taking advantage of it.
I left the R party because it no longer represents my views, nothing to do with Trump.

His approval will be 28% not 38% if they do that lol and the party will be in the gutter by 2028.
