Looks like our aid to Ukraine has been very well spent….
“In two years of conflict [war], Russian losses match – and in many cases surpass – those that comprised its original force,” the UK MoD stressed.
Analysts estimated that Russia’s confirmed losses include over 2,700 tanks and 5,000 infantry fighting vehicles and armoured personnel carriers, while about 350,000 Russian troops were likely killed or wounded.
The UK MoD review stated that for its large-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russia initially deployed around 130 Battalion Tactical Groups (BTGs), which likely included about 1,300 tanks, over 5,000 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs) and armoured personnel carriers (APCs), and at least 100,000 soldiers.
The UK MoD noted that mobilisation and recruitment, as well as the production and repair of equipment, allowed Russia to offset its losses”

Under my leadership, the Republican Party will always support the creation of strong, thriving, healthy American families. We want to make it easier for mothers and fathers to have babies, not harder! That includes supporting the availability of fertility treatments like IVF in every State in America. Like the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of Americans, including the VAST MAJORITY of Republicans, Conservatives, Christians, and Pro-Life Americans, I strongly support the availability of IVF for couples who are trying to have a precious baby.
Today, I am calling on the Alabama Legislature to act quickly to find an immediate solution to preserve the availability of IVF in Alabama. The Republican Party should always be on the side of the Miracle of Life – and the side of Mothers, Fathers, and their Beautiful Babies. If you were alive when Jesus was a teenager and were coach of the baseball team (assuming they had baseball then) that has Jesus on the roster–WHERE WOULD YOU PLAY HIM IN THE FIELD?
Pitcher?

Short stop?
Center Field?
second base? (Hey, if he turned water into wine, he should be able to turn double plays)

Next question, as the coach, where do you BAT him in the lineup?
Leadoff (Christ is supposed to be first in our lives)?
or Cleanup hitter in 4th spot? (4th is usually most powerful player)
or DH?
or bat 9th? (“The First shall be last”)

And a third item I have been researching and thinking about.
TOTAL Population of U.S. today is about 335 million.

GOOGLE “How many non-U.S citizens are in the U.S today?”
answers:
–In 2019 there were 44.9 Million non-U.S. citizens resident in U.S.
–but in 2020, there were 40 million (about 5 Million LESS than the year before????)
–in 2021 (unspecified as to what month) there were 45 million or 45.3 million (two different sources)
–in April of 2021, there were 45 Million
–in October of 2023 there were 46.2 million
–another source says in October of 2023 there were 49 million
So, the answer is nobody knows the real number.
Burt whatever it is, we know that the Biden administration is letting in 3.5 million illegals a year–not counting the got-a-ways, which is estimated to be anywhere from a couple hundred thousands an year to over a million a year.
So the Biden administration (3 years so far) is responsible for about 11 MILLION of the total number of non-U.S. citizens.
About 11 Million of the 45 to 49 million. LET THAT SINK IN.

I never cease to be amused by the people who push for a “negotiated solution” to Putin’s War as though that was different from Hitler’s peace treaty with France in 1940. In this video, Dimitri Medvedev, a former president of Russia and current deputy chairman of the Security Council of Russia, calls Odesa a “Russian city,” saying, “Odessa, come back home, we have been waiting for Odesa in the Russian Federation.” He says that to successfully complete the “special military operation,” Kiev must be taken as Ukraine is “a threat to Russia’s existence.” He also says that the purpose of peace talks and negotiations is to give Russia time to rearm.
The only people pushing for negotiations seem to be the Russians and their backers in the West. The Ukrainians aren’t.

I agree. For Nikki, relying on rich dem donors and Biden dem voters, pushing Haley’s presidential ambitions forward, gives her a vulture’s position of picking up the R nomination should Trump be vacuumed out of competition. In the meantime, she slows down consolidation of the republican/independent vote, R funding to defeat Biden, and overall dampens/stresses the mood of the Republican Party base.
Nonetheless, Bitter will rejoice. I and a ton of others, however, will not vote for her even if her scheming proves fruitful, and the Dems will be handed the WH once again.

Also, Bitter chastises Trump for giving to Dems over 12 years ago, while generously donating to R’s ever since. But, he says nothing, and apparently is not bothered by Haley chasing after dem donor money and dem voters who will vote for Biden in the GE. Ironically, Trump is a former dem who left his party to become a Republican. And, Haley, OTOH, is a Republican who has turned her back on the Republican Party, essentially joining the Dems to defeat the person most republicans want as their nominee.

Trump may very well be the nominee and in a general election will win a lot of votes in rural and exurban areas.
However, as soon now in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina, he underperforms the polls because he collapses in the suburbs. The Republican Party, or what used to make up the Republican Party is incredibly divided because of Trump. Whatever the polling might show before the general election, he will likely do worse and that will likely cost Republicans not only the White House, but other offices as well.

What is driving people’s decisions this time around are the border and the economy – topics which DJT has in his corner due to his first term’s record.
Like you, some think it’s ok for Haley to stay in the race, despite her dismal performance, capturing dem money and voters to only boost losing numbers and few gains. However, there are other strategists who see her efforts as nearsighted, allowing her, for now, to stay in an unwinnable race against Trump, but otherwise tarnishing her reputation going forward.

At the start of “Putin’s War” President Zelenskyy stressed lives over land. A direct quote of his was: “Our land is important, yes, but ultimately it’s just territory. Victory is being able to save as many lives as possible.”
With that premise in mind, Zelenskyy and his top military commander, Zaluzhny, were initially on the same page. However, as the war extended itself Zelenskyy’s attitude changed, now placing the retrieval of land over the lives of his people.
Consequently there has been a radical change in the military hierarchy, their goals, and what future monies will be spent on —-> meat-grinding up more lives at the front lines even if only minuscule amounts of land is recovered.
“But actions speak louder than words. Zelensky began to define victory as the reclamation, not only of land lost during the war, but of Crimea and all of Ukraine’s pre-2014 territory. Zelensky insisted that Ukraine stay on the offensive. He insisted on moving forward, “Whether it’s by a kilometer or 500 meters, but forward every day.”
Zaluzhny saw Zelensky’s strategy of fighting for Bakhmut and Avdiivka at any cost as a strategic disaster that was costing Ukraine too much in weapons and in lives. Zaluzhny argued for preserving lives over forfeitable territory, lest Ukraine lose its land and its army.
In General Oleksandr Syrsky, Zelensky found the commander who would execute his vision and carry out his orders. Syrsky fought the Battle of Bakhmut. His performance there, and in other battles, gave him the reputation of a commander who is willing to give orders that lead to little real gain and lots of real loss of life. “Some soldiers say his orders are unreasonable, at times sending men to their obvious deaths,” The Washington Post reports.
According to The Economist, he “has a reputation for being willing to engage the enemy, even if the cost in men and machines is high.” His reported willingness to put “his men in danger to reach his military goals” has earned him the nicknames “Butcher” and General 200, 200 being the code for a soldier’s corpse. Syrsky is also seen as being a commander who is close to Zelensky and who will not question his orders.”

He has a record of being pro-choice when he was a Dem, and even as a R he has consistently defended exceptions for life of the mother, rape and incest and been critical of the more stringent state laws being passed.
So if there is a debate, he won’t be so defensive on abortion like any other GOP candidate would be.

Many Americans think it was a good thing that Roe vs Wade was overturned. However, those of us who are in the minority. The data and the recent election history shows that most Americans were quite upset at this decision and have been voting accordingly.
Trump is bragging that he is the one responsible for Roe v. Wade becoming overturned because of his Supreme Court nominations. So, it is preposterous to suggest he will not be associated with this issue, more than any other Republican possibly could be.
Perhaps he will look at polls and say that he has been pro-choice all along and wants to bring Roe v. Wade back (which is quite obviously what he truly believes). Less shocking things have happened. If he does, his cultists and apologists here and elsewhere will fall in line and adopt his position.

Haley and DeSantis have the same position on abortion. They say they are Pro-Life, but that the issue should be left to the states and that they are not advocating a “national abortion ban.”
Trump is saying he wants a national abortion ban. It is the ultimate political pander since such a thing is literally impossible to ever come to a President’s desk considering you need 60 votes in the Senate for such a thing, but he is still saying this and many people, on both sides of the abortion divide, think he will sign a national abortion ban.
He has said he wants it at 16 weeks because he “likes round numbers” and that there would be exceptions for rape, and life of the mother. The exceptions should be considered an important part of the debate, but how many people stop listening as soon as you say “national abortion ban” and are not going to even any “credit” for providing for exceptions.
The idea that pro-choice voters are going to look at Trump and think “oh, he’s not so bad on this issue” is just ludicrous. By saying he wants a national abortion ban, they will be extra mobilized against him and that will be one of the preeminent issues of the general election campaign.

Trump is pro life but not an absolutist about it. He goes along with having abortions in the case the of rape, incest, and saving a mother’s life. He was also critical of RDS’s legislation limiting abortion to 6 weeks as well, saying some women might not even know they are pregnant by 6 weeks. I think he is more in line with 12-16 weeks as the abortion limit line. As for me, I would never have an abortion, but that is a personal judgment aimed at me not other women.

Whether fair or unfair, anybody who is advocating a national abortion ban, as Trump is will be painted as an “absolutist.” Trump has so many other vulnerabilities, so that is not going to be helpful in a general election. Again, that is whether you consider the label fair or not.
He has spent months bragging about being the person responsible for the overturning of Roe v. Wade. In some ways, he might have a right to brag. It plays well with primary voters. However, he cannot have it both ways. By being the person most responsible for the overturn of Roe vs. Wade, he is going to be held responsible for everything that has come with it, including the states laws that have left no room for exceptions.

We need to have those beautiful exceptions like for rape, incest, or if having the baby would be like really, really tough for the woman. So, I would have those exceptions. Yes I would”
And his people will fall in line accordingly with that.

He told Marla to abort Tiffany. She did not do so.
Who knows how many other abortions he insisted on or paid for? Once, when asked about it, he refused to answer, sort of like jan on her Holocaust denying.

After Marla gave birth to Tiffany, Trump did marry her. First though, he had her sign a prenup. Part of that said that if Tiffany ever joined the Armed Forces up until age 21, he would cease all financial support of her.
That is what Donald Trump thinks of people who join the military.

Trump is a pragmatist and often talks about “common sense” being his guiding light in making decisions. His SCOTUS choices were all pro choice. He has spoken at many pro life events and marches. But, he also supports states to develop and enact their own policies on abortion, as he did with COVID guidance. He did give constructive criticism to DeSantis, saying his abortion stance was too rigid and would cost him support. Of course JeffP continues to wish the worst for someone like Trump because his candidate literally didn’t make first base, even though he had plenty of money and fanfare to do so.
BTW, I don’t respond to annoying, disingenuous anonymous posts or questions.

One of you legitimately named people should ask jan if she thinks the Holocaust was a myth. If this is not her belief, it will be very simple to clear up and it will not need to be asked again.
Based on the links she used to offer on the old HHR to outright Holocaust denial websites and frequent use there of anti-Semitic tropes regarding the “Rothschilds”and the “Bilderbergs” there and has been remarked upon more recently here, her talk about “globalists” and “merchants” and seething hatred for Zelensky, it seems to be a fair question. Just how similar to bunu is she?

If the woman really really thinks she wants to have one, then he will allow for the exception.
So, basically he is pro-choice, but will run on a national abortion ban. What sense does that make?

JeffP, never said you had a man-crush on DeSantis. However, you are over the moon about his ability to be a leader.
A leader has to connect with and interact with people. Perspective voters have to believe in him, trust him in having attributes such as loyalty to a given contract with people, or someone who earlier had their back. DeSantis abandoned Florida right after he was re-elected to pursue higher office, and then snubbed the very person who helped him win his first Fl. governorship. He then described whatever alliance he didn’t want to have with DJT as a refusal to ”kiss his ring.” He also was aloof with many FL officials which were reasons many did not endorse him. I personally tried to listen to many of his earlier interviews but found him stiff and boring, much like Romney was perceived. Those personal affects are what he has to address and work on should he ever try to run again in 2028.

NBC interview? It does not appear that he has been interviewed by NBC since last November. No such interview was on Meet the Press today. Did it take place on one of his yachts?
I did see his interview this week with Bret Baier on Fox News and he seemed perfectly fine. He has a tough job of course that is being made much harder because of the political calculations of those in the U.S. House who are submissive to Donald Trump.

If you Google “Zelensky and cocaine” there is information about an altered video in which in an old interview he admits he enjoys coffee and that it gives him energy and somehow in this video, coffee got changed to cocaine.
Why do some people in America fall for Putin’s dirty tricks so easily?

I think Trump will be hard to Dems to attack on abortion.
His position is probably close to mine, he probably thinks it should be legal l5-20 weeks.
But whatever he thinks, he has been consistent on the exceptions and on his criticism of the “heart beat” bills.
Trump is not a social conservative, never was. You can bet he is a liberal on most “social” issues.
It is actually one of the things he has going for him.

Anonymous, I don’t know who you are from the old site, but as most here know I had business in the Ukraine for a long time and have many friends and ex employees there. I will reiterate, that it’s common knowledge. Remember, he used to be an actor, and that is common in those circles.
I do not ascribe to the theory that he is some sort of God for the defense of the Ukraine and because during his time as President Trump was impeached, nor do I ascribe to this theory that he’s a thief, getting rich off the war.
I support continued funding for the Ukraine to push back against the Russians by supplying military equipment that they need.
Sorry if that doesn’t “jibe” with your view of him.

I am pro choice if believing abortion should be legal up to 20 weeks is pro-choice.
But I wanted Roe vs Wade to be overturned because I don’t believe there is.a constitutional right to abortion.
I think letting it up to the states is ok although I would prefer a consensus of 15 weeks as the law of the land.
I think Trump would be ok with that.

LOL I love how liberals use the “Putin” label whenever you are lock step with their view of the Ukraine, because they worship it due to the role in impeaching Trump.
Your anonymous act wears thin. I can support aid to the Ukraine without this undying exaltation of Z. The continuation of military aid is paramount to protecting the people of the ukraine, who are suffering because of the invasion.
The irony is that the liberals/never trumpers didn’t say a word when Obama allowed Putin to take the Crimea. I don’t recall them calling Obama a Putin puppet when he (and the dem reporter helping him) told Romney that Russia was not a threat and that the cold war was over. hmmmmmmm

Jason. Abortion at 20 weeks is a pro-choice position. You are entitled to that.
I am glad that they overturned Roe v Wade because there is no constitutional right to abortion, and it should be up to the states where it belongs. Liberals will be all for abortion to delivery in CA, NY, IL, etc…that is their right if they vote for it. I think its heinous. Conservative states will ban it, and if that is what the citizens of the state vote for, that is their right.
I do, however, disagree with the most ardent pro-lifers in that I agree there should be exception for rape. I don’t think a woman should have to endure that nightmare.

On Abortion, I think you will have states where you can get one when you want, and states where they believe life begins at conception and won’t allow it. I can live with that. I don’t think there will be a federal ban on abortion at 15 weeks, and I think we, as the GOP should avoid proposing that. We wanted it back to the states, its back at the states. Its legal where people want it legal, its illegal where people want it illegal.
We need to move on and talk about other issues, so I do agree with you, Trump is better positioned this fall to talk about it than some other candidates.
