I found it to be very interesting.
Did you know that Buchanan was never married and that when he was president he got his niece, who lived in Shepherdstown, VA (now WV) to come to D.C. to plan and oversee all the social events at the White House?

Walt – CSpan 2 and 3 have history lectures on the weekends. I watched a lecture about James Buchanan. The speaker started off by saying “Yes. I wanted to be on expert on James Buchanan because there was no competition.” He also said that “I am gay. I have read all of Buchanan’s diaries and letters as well as letters to him. I don’t want to disappoint my gay friends but Buchanan was not gay.”

Jason…there is no compelling evidence to exonerate Trumps actions leading up to January 6th. Trumps only allies were Rudy, Powell, Flynn, Eastman, and Davis who was in the agricultural department for the AG office who Trump wanted to make AG but every WH lawyer and staff threatened to resign if he did. He pushed the Eastman theory to the extreme. Huge mistake.
This doesn’t dismiss the bogus insurrection narrative and indictments or timing to interfere with the 2024. However Trumps actions to pursue the Eastman plan gave the corrupt DOJ and Biden administration the opening and they took advantage.
The Capital riot was a pretext.
That’s politics.
Could this happen to any GOP leader again? Sure. That is why we need someone wise enough to not to expose themselves with their erratic behavior. Winning the WH and using Article 2 authority to undo Obamas corrupt influence in the administrative state is the play here.
If Trump survives and wins great. He better be willing to lead this time.
I don’t see Trump as a victim. He had his shot to address the corruption but was too afraid of the blowback it would cause.
This was my number one reason I supported RDS. He is a much stronger leader and could lead the charge and would use his Constitutional authority.

Vic – I have been very clear on this. Whomever receives the GOP nomination in any election gets my vote. I hated Trump in 2016 and 2020 but he still got my vote because he was better than Clinton and Biden. He will get my vote again in 2024. I will never forget or forgive his financial donations to hard leftists for decades.
I don’t like him. I think he is an amoral scumbag. He did nothing to expand his appeal to anybody outside his MAGA base.
He did some good things as President but has no interest in running on those. He is superior to Biden or Biden’s replacement.
I am troubled by his refusal to condemn Putin. He is a moron on Ukraine and, if elected, will do nothing to stop its fall. He is too close to Putin to stop it.
The trials against him are political garbage.
So I continue to support Haley knowing she will not be the nominee.
I hope Trump regains the White House. I do not like or respect him. Both can be true.

If democrats sneak out a narrow victory with demented joe, their base is just gonna be pissed off for four years. He won’t accomplish anything and the dems will hate him.
If they steal the election, a GOP senate might even block all his judicial nominations. Putting Joe or Kamala back in is a recipe for absolute chaos and the left knows it. It’s just digging a hole. You can’t win or lead a movement with a guy like that.
All that actually matters is defeating the neocons in the primary, and getting the correct VP in there in case deepstate tries to remove him, which they will.

I am not impressed by Trump’s 60-40 win. SC. is a very conservative state, especially among Rs, Trump should have gotten 80% for me to be impressed. He lost some urban population centers by large margins.

Trump touted his “war against ISIS” and he intervened in Syria. He also stayed the course in Afghanistan despite his rhetoric. And he provided lethal weapons to Ukraine which Obama had refused to do.
