The House R’s know the Senate won’t convict Mayorkas. But having a publicized trial will produce discovery and information about Mayorkas that otherwise many aren’t aware of. Also, because immigration is such a big issue in the upcoming election, putting Mayorkas on trial will showcase all the lies and contortions of the law that were intrinsic in his performance as a “servant of the people.”
”As a half foot of snow descends on Long Island and all schools and most government services close for the storm, New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) is having Long Island voters in NY-3 brave the storm and trek to the polls, safety concerns be damn. We are sure the 10,836 raw vote advantage Democrats banked with the early vote has nothing to do with Hochul’s decision to go forth with the special election in the blizzard.”
But Johnson is sending clear signals that he won’t bring the bill to the House floor because it lacks the tougher border security measures House Republicans had demanded months ago, at the outset of debate.
“[In] the absence of having received any single border policy change from the Senate, the House will have to continue to work its own will on these important matters,” Johnson said Monday night in a statement. “America deserves better than the Senate’s status quo.”
And all of that will only matter to the people already voting for Trump. Most media won’t really cover it but will be sure to broadcast the vote where he is not convicted and not removed.
The snow is going to do her in. The special election should have been extended or postponed for a week. If the Dems thought they would lose a close race they would have done that in a NY minute.
One could put a name in the post such as DW sometimes does but then there is nothing at all to stop someone else from putting that same “name” in their posts, pretending to be them. There are people here who would absolutely do that.
So, it is better to have multiple Anonymous “posters” since there does not appear to be any other option. Read the posts or don’t read the posts. Decide if you agree or disagree with them based on what is being said not who you think is saying it.
hmmmm with early voting 51/49 in nassau im begining to think there might be a chance, just depends on how many braved the weather. BTW republicans will be way more apt to brave the weather to vote than Dems. They want “no cost” voting , meaning they don’t want to have to actually go to vote
Dems are light years ahead of the GOP on using early voting to harvest low propensity voter ballots. The GOP has no clue what that even is, let alone how to do it themselves. They think it’s “cheating”. 🙄🙄🤣. This augurs well for the Dems in November, regardless of what polls say.
Stubborness about early voting because Trump is bitter about it hurt Republicans in this race and will in other races from those who are following him.
Republicans in some states have embraced early voting and have done much better than those in other states.
santos won by 7.5% in the election, we just need to win by 0.1%…so I think as things stand, she has a good chance, All going to depend on how many R’s got out to vote in Nassau county vs dems who stayed home
The House needs both more pro-Ukraine Republicans and more pro-Israel Democrats to counter the idiots in both parties. At least Suozzi will be a very pro-Israel voice in his party.
Early voting will NEVER benefit Republicans, but it is not as bad as VBM, which is the real killer.
Personally, I think Rs should vote on ED because that lowers the chance their ballots will be thrown out.
The “if you can’t beat them join them” meme does not work here because the Dems control the big urban centers. EV is good for them because they can count a lot of illegal ballots. If Rs EV all they do is cannibalize their ED vote.
Rs should be fighting to restrict both EV and VBM. If they don’t, they will continue to lose to fraud.
“The Obama administration justified spying on the Trump campaign by saying foreign governments had incidentally found evidence of Russian collusion. Now, Michael Shellenberger reports that this was a sham: The CIA asked foreign governments to spy on Trump associates for them ahead of 2016, then used that spying to justify their own espionage. This isn’t election skullduggery. It’s flagrantly illegal, anti-constitutional behavior. Arguably, it’s treason. Who will go to jail? Everyone involved in this deserves it far more than any official in the Trump White House.”
But Dems are locking in and banking their low propensity voters during the early voting period. GOP makes no effort to do the same with their low propensity voters. ED voting is not enough. Getting voters who usually vote Election Day to vote early doesn’t work. Ignore them, and get unlikely voters in the bag during early voting. Harvest those ballots. Gun shows, Auto shows, Churches, Nursing homes. Amish communities, etc etc. GOP has no clue how to do this. They better figure it out fast, or Dems will enact federal legislation that makes it impossible for them to lose.
Not a great night for all the other Long Island freshmen Republicans who voted to oust Santos. They are going to have a hard time holding their seats in November.
they think by doing the “right thing” the voters will think they are bi-partisan and thereby vote for them. They don’t understand Dems. They eat their own in order to win. It will not win them any points in november
Donald Trump issues lengthy statement attacking Mazi Pilip. Says she is a “foolish woman” for not backing him more strongly and that MAGA stayed home because of it. Trump declares in the statement, “I want to be loved.”
Pilip looks like she might lose the district by 8 points which is exactly the margin Trump himself lost it by when he was on the ballot.
