But no need to panic, there will be the Black National Anthem, dozens of reports on all the sacrifices Taylor Swift made to fly back from Japan in time for the game (with dozens of shots of her reaction to Travis Kelce’s catches), woke talking heads, woke ads, woke messages and dozens of views of inspiring messages such as “it takes all of us”, “end racism” in the end zones and on player’s helmets.

Sigh. Every election year we see a headline like this:

And every election year we have to point out there is a vast database of people who make but one correct prediction every four years over just a few election cycles. In this example 10 informed guesses in a row when many of these were fairly easy to predict, and so its not a big deal.

So lets run through this…
1984 – EXTREMELY easy to predict Reagan wins.
1988 – Fairly easy call for Bush 41.
1992 – A true three-candidate election. For those who were paying attention to where each candidate would be strong, this wasn’t hard to figure out.
1996 – Pretty easy to see that Clinton would cruise past Dole without much of a challenge.
2000 – No question this was the hardest one to predict, literally a 50/50 based on hanging chads. But even so, the conventional wisdom going in was that Bush was a slight favorite. So for those who pick slight favorites, they got away with one here.
2004 – An easier call than 2000, as its always easy to stick with an incumbent.
2008 – No reason for anyone to have predicted that McCain could upset Obama.
2012 – Somewhat tougher call, but again, going with an incumbent is always safe, and Romney never connected well with a segment of the GOP base.
2016 – Probably second only to 2000 for being a tough call. Hillary clearly was the favorite, but there was data for those paying attention that she was out over her skis, not well liked, and that she was taking the rust belt way too much for granted.
2020 – I firmly believe the election was stolen, but people had to predict one or the other, and it was fair to describe this race being perceived as a 50/50 coin toss.
And so in that span, there were three, at most four coin tosses. Easy for anyone to guess right, and then suddenly they get articles written about them for being some kind of prognosticating genius when its not really true.

I’ve said it before here and elsewhere, I’m firmly of the belief that those “DJT is a convicted felon!” polls are too clever by half. The average voter thinks of a felony as armed robbery, murder, etc. Having kangaroo courts with Dem-heavy juries convict Trump of mostly process crimes is not going to cut it.
That doesn’t mean he wins in November, but you’ll be surprised how many folks hold their noses as they want their jobs back and the value of their money restored to 2019 levels.
