As expected, those that think Trump will allow Putin to annex Ukraine on his watch are going to be disappointed.

Of course the “they must equally pay” meme is as stupid as when he said it about NATO, because both NATO and the defense of Ukraine are in the strategic interests of the US.

But in any case while he will try to get the Europeans to pay more, he is not going to cut Ukraine off. Which is something I have said all along despite his isolationist and irresponsible rhetoric.

“Former President Trump does not sound like a man ready to abandon Ukraine as some fear. This week, he instead called on Europe to match dollar-for-dollar the amount of aid the U.S. has sent to counter Russian aggression. “I say pay, and they’ll pay too,” he said. “You have to equal it.”

Those remarks come as Trump allies in Congress are balking at a proposal to send more military materiel to Kyiv in exchange for policy changes at the U.S. southern border, and at a time European leaders increasingly fear what a second Trump term might mean for the future of Ukraine and NATO.

“Ukraine is an interesting case,” Trump said Tuesday at a Las Vegas rally. “People always want to know my feeling.”

“Number one, we’re in for $200 billion plus, and the European nations are in for $20 billion, and it’s more important for them,” he continued. “And don’t you think they should equalize?”

And of course Trump’s numbers are not correct either, so far the US has actually delivered about $80 billion in aid and the EU + UK in total has committed about $54 billion.

Good. It is going nowhere and while I support the general idea of a bipartisan comprehensive immigration bill, this one was poorly conceived and kept in the dark too long. Any such bill needs to have enough votes to pass BEFORE it is announced.

I don’t agree at all. That statement is actually good politics and did nothing to damage Trump’s credibility, in fact it probably enhanced it.

Unfortunately, I think his “settlement” is bad for Ukraine and good for the aggressors because what I think he will propose is a ceasefire at whatever lines are currently in place.

But politically it is a good move, and as I said before the chances of Trump actually letting Russia annex Ukraine on his watch are zero to none.

I think SCOTUS should realize that the reason the DOJ wants to rush these cases is in fact electoral interference and on that basis should not allow for any expedited motions or trials.

In general I would agree with the ruling that Presidents should not have absolute immunity. But they SHOULD have immunity against politically motivated and frivolous charges, which is the case here.

In fact one of the many problematic aspects of the border bill was it stipulated any legal action arising from states would have to be heard by the DC Circuit – guaranteeing it would never be softened or overturned. A very clear explanation of the downside of this absurd “bipartisan” border bill creation is put forth by Andrew McCarthy.

  51. Excerpted from The National Pulse.

“Historically, Nevada does caucuses. But in 2021, the Democrat-run state legislature rammed through a law signed by outgoing governor Steve Sisolak. The bill attempted to take the process out of the hands of the respective parties and hand it to the state, replete with mail-in ballots, no voter ID, and a process riddled with confusion.

The GOP, however, refused to take part. Well, apart from Tim Scott, Mike Pence, and Nikki Haley, all of whom have a track record of siding with Democrats. You know it’s really bad because election lawfare activist Marc Elias is pissed about the GOP handling their own affairs without the input of the government.

“Republicans will stop at nothing to instill doubt in the electoral process and disenfranchise voters, even their own,” an article on Elias’s Democrat Docket website reads. “The caucus and primary divide offers a tale of two elections. For those who participate in the state-run primary, voters are able to vote early and by mail, register to vote on Election Day and vote without a photo ID if the voter does not register on the same day. In stark contrast, the GOP caucus will not have early voting or allow for mail-in voting. Instead, the caucus will impose a strict photo ID requirement, and will likely require caucus goers to partake in an hours-long process.”

The choice couldn’t be more stark, and the fact that Haley is on the side of Nevada Democrats, Steve Sisolak, and Marc Elias should tell any waiverers just about everything they need to know about her and her campaign.”

This is just another example of Haley participating in dem tactics, rebuffing the GOP because it serves her ambitious interests more.

most of her support is from Republicans. I’d like to see actual evidence that a majority of the money shes raised has come from Democrats. She is not employing Democratic tactics. Republicans absolutely voted in dem primaries for Obama so that Hillary would not get the nomination in ‘08.
the bunk about the Nevada primary vs caucus is a red herring being spread by Paul followers who are intend on destroying the Republican Party from within.

caucuses were their preferred avenue because they felt like they could infiltrate and control them to get Mr. 0-151 delegates. A primary is a better way to have actual voters choose the candidate they want, rather than a primary which is generally controlled by fanatics.

so far I have not heard one cogent argument for why Haley is not a conservative.

to be honest, if we’ve reached the stage where Nikki Haley is not conservative enough for the Republican Party then we are destined to be a small, regional minor party.

I have my beefs with Haley surrounding her penchant to rely on focus groups and putting her finger up to the political wind to shape her statements, trying to appeal to everyone, but, she is absolutely a Conservative, has run as a conservative, legislated like a Conservative, and led, in an executive position, as a Conservative.

“The count was initially tied after Reps. Ken Buck (R-Colo.), Mike Gallagher (R-Wis.) and Tom McClintock (R-Calif.) voted with Democrats against impeaching Mayorkas. Republicans, including Green, spent spent several minutes huddled with Gallagher on the floor, in an apparent effort to change his vote. One person close to the conversation, granted anonymity to speak candidly, said members argued to Gallagher that he would be inviting strong blowback from the base.

Instead, Rep. Blake Moore (R-Utah), the vice chair of the conference, flipped his vote to “no” — a procedural step that will let Republicans revive the impeachment articles, which some indicated could happen next week if Scalise returns. Johnson’s spokesman, Raj Shah, said in a post on X that the GOP “fully intends” to bring them back up “when we have the votes for passage.””

Sports commentator wrongly accused of racist rant awarded $25m in damages

Black family that was stopped by police and handcuffed awarded $1.9 MM because the police thought the car was stolen.

WHAT CAN I DO TO BE AWARDED THESE BIG MONIES by Juries?

We have lost our f-ing minds.

  88. ”kicking her out of the GOP because she ran against trump is absurd”

Just to get things straight, Vic, I distrust Haley, but hold nothing against her for running against Trump. She actually let him know ahead of time about her intentions to run, unlike how RDS handled his presidential entrance into the race. So, I give her kudos for that. Also, my posts about her are not to denigrate but to clarify why I’m opposed to her presidential run, as well as any idea of her being a VP who would complement a Trump presidency.

  90. If you like 80s music, Netflix has a great show on the making of the song We Are the World. It is amazing to see how all of those singers came together in one night to make the song. Jason will be interested in how Stevie Wonder helped Bob Dylan to sing his part.

  92. I don’t want to start a flame war, and I’m not taking sides in the current argy-bargy. That said, I do believe that the correct label for Haley would be “center-right establishment.” She’s clearly not a RINO, but “conservative” seems to generous to one so closely allied to corporate interests and given to defend upscale urban attitudes and mores (see the Disney stuff, race pandering, and praising the $83 million jury verdict as “correct”).

But mostly, she’s still just a politician who will say whatever her audience wants, even if she’s right in some issues.

  93. Bob Dylan? I forget who said it, but “America’s greatest poet and worst singer” aptly described his vocal abilities.

The International Union of Police Associations (IUPA) endorsed former President Donald Trump in his White House bid on Tuesday, as polling shows crime is a top issue to the American electorate. In a press release, IUPA President Sam Cabral announced that the organization’s executive board of directors unanimously endorsed Trump.“President Trump’s history of support for the men and women of Law Enforcement is unmatched. His policies and actions were directed at improving safety in our communities and the men and women who provide that shield”
