I am sure that Putin is pleased with the results. DeSantis is weak on Ukraine. Trump is a moron on Ukraine. The isolationist faction of the GOP had a big night.

Tina does not believe in personal responsibility. Putin is not responsible for ordering the invasion. It’s Biden’s fault. Tina does not believe that the J6 protestors who went inside are responsible. It was the Federal “assets.”
Nah, he could have invaded anytime. He didn’t invade because Trump had clearly warned him not too and he was unsure of what Trump’s reaction would be. I would have bet big $$$ he would never invade with Trump as President.
But in any case, he bears 100% responsibility for the invasion, even if Biden has sent him a written invitation to do so.
Somebody has to help Ukraine rebuild its shattered economy. It should be paid by Russia or assets seized from Russia but it won’t be.”
If Trump wins, you can bet this is one thing he will use as leverage against Putin. In essence, he is going to try to buy Putin off. It’s the wrong strategy but his 24 hour solution is certainly going to be to offer the Russians an economic incentive to end the war, not to mention some illegally annexed Ukrainian territory.
What should be done, as Bitter points out, it to use every cent of Russia’s assets that can be seized for Ukraine reconstruction.
I think the only way RDS can stay in the race is finish 2nd in SC”
Not sure he can beat Haley in SC. I think he should stay in no matter what and hope Trump does not get a majority of delegates, only a plurality. Of course, he would need donors to stick with him to do that, not a given.
Ron DeSantis spent an estimated $125 million in Iowa, stayed there for many months campaigning in all 99 counties (none of which he won) and came in a distant second by 30 pts to the frontrunner. And yet, his departure speech from Iowa was that his campaign had punched out a victory despite having everything thrown at him.
In contrast DJT spent $11 million in Iowa, intensified his campaign nearer to the actual date of the Caucus, won 98 out of 99 counties (only losing by 1 pt in the one he lost), and garnered 51% of the vote – an historical win in that state. His departing speech was to congratulate both of his rivals for their campaigning efforts, hoping the country would eventually come together to work out its problems.
When you compare how the two top contenders ran their campaigns, along with the end results of their efforts and voter interactions, RDS ended up as a sour grapes loser and DJT a gracious tour de force.
I did not know who would fill the Trump Worshiping DeSantis Hater void created when Tgca chose to not get in the lifeboat. So far, Jan is doing fine work.
The Golden Calf actually had a nice speech last night, nothing “sour” about it. Was positive and uplifting. And he correctly stated that “everything but the kitchen sink” was thrown at him and he still beat expectations and survived to fight another day.
I don’t think Trump’s showing was that great, frankly. He got half the vote but if he was such an overwhelming favorite he should have done better than that. He got more or less what the polls predicted, did not overperform.
He is not going to get 50% in NH, you read it first here.
“Today, I am suspending my campaign for President and driving back to Arkansas. My message of being a principled Republican with experience and telling the truth about the current front runner did not sell in Iowa.”
The Iowa caucus turnout of 110,000 was low, compared to 2008 and 2012 when it was around 122,000 and the historical high in 2016 when it was approximately 188,000. However, considering the chill factor predicted was also historically low, and venues for RDS were small leading up to the caucus, and almost non-existent for Haley, it seems conceivable the low enthusiasm factor for Haley/RDS may have dulled turnout numbers.
Although RDS may have captured the higher number of generation Z in his election yesterday, earlier in the year he refused an invitation to speak at a large Turning Point conference in Florida, whose members mainly comprise gen Z activists. He also canceled a 2022 fundraising event with Lee Zeldin in NY, in order to meet with a donor (although his excuse was to attend a funeral). Zeldin eventually endorsed Trump.
Then you have the “real conservative” label being pinned on RDS, with DJT excluded from that category because of his former affiliations with Dems. However, why are so many conservatives endorsing Trump over RDS like Josh Hawley?
” I don’t think Trump’s showing was that great, frankly. He got half the vote but if he was such an overwhelming favorite he should have done better than that. He got more or less what the polls predicted, did not overperform.
He is not going to get 50% in NH, you read it first here.”
So, Trump’s performance in Iowa is being belittled by you because the polls predicted the big win that he easily achieved! What half a** reasoning ! Everybody, including Newt Gingrich, is talking about what an amazing outcome Iowa was. But, all you can do is dismiss it and sneer about him not getting 50% in NH – a state where no one is making such a claim. You’re the one beclowning yourself.
Then you have the “real conservative” label being pinned on RDS, with DJT excluded from that category because of his former affiliations with Dems.”
It is not pinned on him, he IS an actual real conservative and he has the record to prove it. He is also a real Republican with the record to prove it.
Trump was NEVER a conservative and he is a “convenience” Republican. Not just because of affiliations or donations, because of his core political beliefs, which were NEVER conservative.
Trump is a crony capitalist who believes in big government, printing more money to fund more deficits, and an protectionist and isolationist who believes in the AFL-CIO failed agenda of the last 70 years. He is not a social conservative either.
So if you want a conservative, support the Golden Calf, not Trump. You can like Trump for whatever reason, but please don’t ever confuse him with conservative values, of which he has none
Holy sh*t: 4 judges on DC appellate court just delivered a scorching smack down of Special Counsel Jack Smith, Judge Beryl Howell, and Judge Florence Pan for search of Trump’s Twitter file.
“The Special Counsel’s approach obscured and bypassed any assertion of executive… pic.twitter.com/jwIIIxeZPB
I want someone who will listen to the people – working and middle class core of this country — and have the grit to reverse Biden’s damage. Most of that damage has been done by Biden reversing positive policies of DJT that worked. Being “conservative” is nothing but a name tag. Enforcing policies that have conservative ends is what matters. Haley is nothing more than a neocon globalist. And, DeSantis has terrible people skills. He’s not only uncomfortable mingling among the masses, but they are also uncomfortable being around him. How he could possibly parlay the results of Iowa as anything but a disappointing loss is delusional. And, going forward with polling putting him in 3rd place in the next couple of states, with no real path to achieve the presidency, is putting good money after bad.
BTW, the press has thrown much more Sh*t at Trump than DJT. For instance, MSN cut off Trump’s victory speech while CNN didn’t air any of it, but aired the full speeches of Haley and DeSantis.

That was a good political move by Vivek. Leaving a race without having to mend many fences will only help him in the future. In contrast it will not go well for DeSantis, by being petulant and in denial about his inability to connect with the public,
Basically, regarding nh, Nikita is damaged by her third place finish. Faux and friends can tout a dated pole, but she was already losing by 20. Viveks support mainly goes to trump.
The numbers: A survey of business conditions in the New York region sank to the lowest level in January since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, perhaps a sign of trouble brewing for the U.S. economy.

I know it’s early and DeSantis supporters are upset with me for saying Trump is inevitable, but IA was the one place DeSantis needed to significantly outperform the polls and he did not.
He had Reynolds, Vander Plaats, Deace, and did the full 99 county Grassley, yet lost by 30 and only beat Haley by 2.
I can be a blind cheerleader or a supporter who objectively analyzes. I choose the latter.

ugh. Jan and Tina, please stop with the inane nicknames for DeSantis and Haley. I understand they aren’t Trump, but all you are doing is alienating people by doing so. Calling them not Conservative, when it appears the only criteria for being “conservative” is to stop funding Ukraine (we know why).
Just stop. Both Haley and especially DeSantis are strong conservatives, DeSantis more so. I don’t like how wishy washy and quick to capitulate Haley is, but she still has mostly conservative tendencies, and the policies she implemented in SC.
The definition of a Conservative is not, “I support Trump.” you also play into the Paulista camp when you say neocon. Sorry, we are still the world’s leader, and will be involved in international affairs. No two ways about it. Now, we can choose to spend our money wisely and exert our influence wisely, but we are never going to stop dealing with the world in this day and age.
Border. I think all three candidates want to slam the door shut on illegal immigration, and I know DeSantis doesn’t want to give one illegal work papers, or allow them to stay here. I honestly have not read about any of her policies, so I can’t comment.
But calling them Paulistia names is below both of you. Tina, you’ve been here forever with all of us and I appreciate you. Jan you seem intelligent. Why not convince people to back Trump rather than denigrate good Conservative Republicans for the crime of running in a Primary. This is what primaries are about, to see who the people want as a candidate.
Yes, Trump will be the nominee, its a foregone conclusion now, and we have to sink or swim with him. How about mending fences instead of torching them so he actually wins this time. I will vote for him (with my nose held closed because I like a number of his policies but do not like him as a person), but you need to convince others to vote for him, not alienate them.
Vic – Another rational and well reasoned post. Trump is incapable of disagreement without calling for the disparagement of those who dare oppose him. He demands absolute loyalty but shows none in return. His cult follows his lead.
Here is my updated copy of the only chart you need. I have stopped the Dashboard showing the rankings of the three toupees because they refuse to update their data which is pretty absurd given we are now under 11 months to go.
Again, my chart shows the number by which Trump leads (or negatively, trails) Biden in each of the 17 states that are at some level in play or could become in play. I provide a marker where Trump passes 270.
The number by each state is based on an average of the last seven polls of each state (some don’t have 7 yet), weighted to give a larger sample to the most recent, with smaller samples to the most stale (25, 20, 17, 14, 11, 8, 5).
Trump is still hanging on to a 270 path outside the margin of error:
IA 10.6
OH 10.5
FL 9.1
TX 7.5
GA 6.7 (was 6.4)
AZ 6.0
NC 5.8
MI 4.7 (was 5.1) (278 EVs for Trump)
NV 3.4
PA 0.8
WI 0.4
MN -1.8
ME -2.5 (was -4.0)
VA -4.8
CO -7.0
NH -7.5
NM -8.0
I was actually referring to some of the posts that have names like DeSoros. I didn’t think that those came from you.
In general, I was talking about this overall idea that fidelity to Trump is the only qualification to be called a conservative. I prefer RDS, but will vote for Trump, and hope he wins. He governed as more of a conservative that he actually is, and a lot of the spending was during COVID. I agree with Jason on the trade policy issue.
As far as Nikki Haley, I, as many here including yourself and Jason, have a lot of concerns about how quickly she caves on issues in order to be liked by all. If we go by her record, she governed as a solid conservative and remember, was a Tea Party darling along with Ted Cruz, Rubio, Cuccinelli, et al
I do find it interesting that what were called “Tea Party” candidates back in 2010 are now “Liberals” or “RINOS” and I really do feel that a lot of Pauliac, Paultard vernacular and even influence is creeping into the party. Not one of the Paultards is a conservative, never will be. Heck, I remember when, after the Tea Party was successful, they tried to co-opt the moniker and say that Paul was the founder. LMAO
”But calling them Paulistia names is below both of you. Tina, you’ve been here forever with all of us and I appreciate you. Jan you seem intelligent. Why not convince people to back Trump rather than denigrate good Conservative Republicans for the crime of running in a Primary”
Vic, I’m not a fan of Ron Paul, except for his congressional participation in confronting Fauci’s role in COVID, and the mandated vaccines pushed onto people. So, I don’t know where you’re referencing any Paulistia name calling. I have also not denigrated anyone for running in a primary. However, I have posited, what many “good conservatives” have said, that DeSantis’s entrance in the race for POTUS was clumsy, not straight forward, and violated governing commitments made to the people of Fl by immediately jumping ship in his governor role, after just being re-elected, to run for higher office. In order to even make such a move he had to change FL law. Nikki Haley was at least more above board by her decision to run, by calling her former “boss” Trump, giving him a courteous heads up about her decision to run. DeSantis just obfuscated and never made a call to someone he earlier had “kissed the ring” for a requested endorsement from him to win his first term governorship in FL.
Jan – I thought I clarified earlier, the names are in your posts, the ones that you link, not that you are directly making those names up.
Those posts, which reference the Pauliac terminology, neocon, DeSoros, etc are the ones that are derisive and cause division.
I get that you are both for Trump, and he is going to be the nominee and needs our support, but olive branches to those who don’t fit the Trump loyalists backers idea of conservative, would go further to get him elected.
BTW, I don’t believe the position of cutting off aid to Ukraine is a conservative position. Many Trump backers don’t want aid (not saying you or Tina) to go to Ukraine because of Ukraine’s position in getting Trump wrongly impeached. I get it, but unfortunately, it is imperative for the US, and OUR interests, to stop any more advancement and push Putin back as far as we can, if not out, of the Ukraine. The Pauliacs don’t like Ukraine because Zelensky is Jewish, and people like Bunu are just straight up anti-semites.
With reference to Ukraine, we can not cut off aid, but there should be better oversight. I personally understand the situation there, and there is without a doubt graft and waste BUT not enough to warrant stopping.
BTW, whomever brought up the rebuilding of the Ukraine has some real foresight. That is going to be a massive boondangle and costs up over $1T. mark my words. Bitter – Russia doesnt have enough seized assets to cover the costs.
Anyway, to close, I am all for supporting your desired candidate. Trump will have my vote in November, but let’s stop with the name calling if we can, or posting to people who engage in that. BTW, Haley will be his VP candidate. Trump is smart and knows she can help push him over the top.
Vic – I remember when conservatives opposed Soviet/Russian expansion. Now, many embrace it to give Putin free reign in Ukraine.
Don’t bother trying to reason with Tina. She is not a Republican but has made herself the RINO Hunter. To her, every Republican becomes a RINO. Of course, she revered Trump, who only became a Republican on his way down the escalator to run for President.
Jan is not a conservative either. You can read the vitriol in her posts today regarding RDS. Nothing regarding his conservative credentials, issues making a difference or his over performing in IA by 5%.
Nikki “you must feel my pain” Haley has been a conservative Republican her whole life. This is true whether her terminal pandering makes her unqualified for the Presidency or not.
Trump was still funding Chuck Schumer, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid and other Dems and was giving the Democratic Senate Committee hundreds of thousands of dollars to elect more liberal Dems as late as 2010.
If you want to call Nikki “you have to feel my pain” Haley a RINO, then you have to acknowledge Trump is the Mother of all RINOS.

Americans for Chinese Prosperity, a RINO Charles Koch con job that is funding, along with many Democrats and others that aren’t feeling so well right now, is very embarrassed by the poor showing of Nikki “Birdbrain” Haley in yesterday’s Iowa Primary. 50,000 votes for Trump in red state with a extremely low turnout of around 100K…it is not all that impressive for an almost incumbent when 49% of your party votes for someone else in what has become a SOLID red state.
1/3 of those 100K believe don’t believe Trump is NOT fit to be President if convicted of a crime. Not to mention he got gutted again in the suburbs.
Again it’s rainbows and unicorns to think Trumps huge victory is the beginning of some great comeback.
I hate to admit it but he will have to appeal to the Haley wing of the party to have even a remote chance of winning a General Election.
As long as Trump and Haley are willing to say a man is a man and not a woman with conviction they will get my vote.
Your nicknames were always stupid but now they don’t even make sense. Haley is not Russian so Nikita is a stupid attempt. Unlike you and your god, moron Trump, Haley opposes Putin.
It’s the economy and inflation. Did you see that Empire State index today? Wow, we are dropping fast. And inflation is just awful. Look at the groceries, car insurance, hime insurance, etc.
Food inflation was 11.4 percent in 2022 and 5.8 in 2023. Only a Cn and n dummy or Coreeee will tell you that inflation actually declined.
It would take a referral from the house of stupidity and go to the goblin, who would punt on charging the son, even though 2 trump officials received the indictments and were convicted (bannon being one) all because they wanted the executive privilege claims heard,
Yet, Rs get scared and let crack rock and the attorney who buys his ugly paintings make a circus out of things.

JeffP,
The Nation owes Trump trillions of dollars and a debt it can never repay so if he wants to run the party this cycle, 2028,2032 however long I think that’s fine.
If Trump had not stopped third wave Bushism (war criminals), Jeb could still be president now instead of Biden and that would be a national nightmare. We’d be spending 10’s of trillions on the Iran war and other middle east wars, dead broke, and the dems would be on the verge of taking power with a Bernie bros revolution.
As it stands Trump put an end to the 40 years of darkness that the Bush family caused on the nation.
I rather yell about the vax … than brag and live under the delusion of a global experimental DNA altering poke that caused untold death and permanent disability. The statistics don’t lie.

Haley has to be the favorite for VP right now. Just as MAGA flipped on Vivek in 24/hours they will accept Haley in the same way if Don gives the thumbs up. He needs her more than she needs him. He has had working relationship with her, likes hiring women, likes her as a person, he needs moderate suburban voters and needs her donors.
Vic, I don’t know you well even though I have been in and out of HHR blogging for years – I think it was 2008 when I first started posting, but am not sure. Neocon, though, is a common term I’ve used, but DeSoros is a question mark to me. However, assigning certain names or words, to groupings like a Pauliac one, is about as absurd as getting into assigning the right woke “pronouns” in what some want to envision as a genderless society.
I have found it odd at the revived HHR that showing support for Trump is met with so much derision and negativity. The man has a mixed political background, but for the 4 years he was president he created a ledger of accomplishments greater than his failures. He also founded a separate wing of the Republican Party that has become more diversified, vibrant, and representative of the middle and working classes. The growing appeal of this new Republican wing is why Trump won Iowa last night. And yes, it was an historic event even in the midst of a lower turnout. For if DeSantis or Haley had captured the win none of this “no big deal” sentiment would have been voiced here. For me, if either one had been victorious over Trump I would have been disappointed, but not tried to discredit a win, especially one where the previous record was a 12 pt lead.
Furthermore, I believe our national security and sovereignty is being threatened far more by our open, chaotic border than any proxy war being enabled overseas. This sentiment is now resonating among the majority of Americans including Iowans, where it was the #1 issue with 40% of people caucusing. However, what politicians and the elite are always pushing are Ukraine funding, climate change, equity vs equality, green energy projects, and so on. It’s also conservative lawmakers who are coming around to limiting or cutting Ukrainian aid versus progressive Dems who see no end in sight. I don’t view Zelenskyy as necessarily a Ukrainian hero either. In fact he is acting more like a dictator as time goes on, banning churches, the press, jailing people protesting his government, and eliminating the upcoming elections depriving people from voting him in or out.
Lastly, I’m in total agreement about name calling. However, I continue to see Haley as a VP disaster.
I get it … but…I just saw RDS refer on the CNN town hall to a word that used to be a common in politics…coalition. Haven’t heard that in awhile.
For Trump to have any chance (which I don’t believe he really has) he has got to build out a coalition outside of MAGA. It’s reality.
DeSantis had a coalition form in Florida without genuflecting to moderate voters last election. Why…. he was an effective leader that appealed to all kinds of voters.
Haley for VP is absurd. The last administration had enough snakes in it.
Putting the #1 as VP probably puts Trump in actual physical danger
We need Stone back as chief of staff
I have believed for sometime that George H.W. Bush was behind the attempted assassination of Reagan in 1981. I documented my findings in my book " The Bush Crime Family" . Now I have additional evidence to make the case- https://t.co/6Asz8kLtzDpic.twitter.com/3pJQ4Bh9qI
Thank you for taking the time to write that response. I think I need to choose my words better, and am not so full of myself that I can’t take a look at my own mistakes and make changes, though, I do stand by some of the comments, I want the name calling to stop. We are all on the same side, well, except Bunu.
Almost everyone on here will vote for Trump. There are some here, I for one, that actually liked the way he governed for the most part (it was way more conservative than I expected), but still, just like any leader there are policy positions I didn’t like (trade embargo). What we, and I am speaking for others so I hope I get this correct, take issue with is this idea that we had to coronate Trump. Many wanted the process to happen and the candidate the people prefer, win. That happened in Iowa.
Yet, many of the links that some put on there lead to posts from zerohedge, etc, which are not conservatives, they are fringe.
Another thing is this definition of conservative. A Conservative believes in many things, not just one, and to truly be a national party, and one that wins, we have to include those whose idea of conservatism doesn’t align with ours all the time, but, who we agree with 80-90% of the time.
I would bet dollars to donuts, that Bitter, Walt, Cow, DW, Jason, Tina, Jan, myself…gee who am I leaving out, believe in 90% of the same thing. We may differ on some issues, but overall we are going to agree on way more than we disagree on.
I am saying let’s (let’s meaning the Republican party, not HHR redux) stop with the litmus test stuff. Let’s open our arms to those who believe most of we do, and take back the White House and both houses of Congress so we can make some real change.
To wit, I value everyone here (EXCEPT BUNU), you and Tina included. I loved ending my day with Tina’s comments from California, even when I was not posting very much.

Trump was NEVER a conservative and he is a “convenience” Republican. Not just because of affiliations or donations, because of his core political beliefs, which were NEVER conservative.

For instance, MSN cut off Trump’s victory speech while CNN didn’t air any of it, but aired the full speeches of Haley and DeSantis.

LMAO
