I am surprised Kathy Hochul didn’t try to cancel the game in KC too, after all it was very cold and “public safety” demands you cannot play football if its too hot, too cold, rainy, snowy, sleety, windy, stormy, muddy, and of course if the pollen level is too high or there is any threat of a virus anywhere in the world.
Trump- it’s a real wild card…will not debating and concern over his legal drama keep him under 50%?
RDS- excitement on the ground the last few days has been palpable to the media, with NBD months long organization his ground game with the weather will be to his advantage and he will exceed media expectations.
Haley- is very well liked by moderate voters and suburban women, however she will underperform her top line Selzer IA numbers.
Vivek- is going for the MAGA vote and will be in single digits.
At this point the primary it’s about two things.
1. Can Trump win early states by over 50%?
2. Who is the left standing between RDS and Haley after SC?

That being said, Walt and Cash cow predict IA caucus results will be:
Cash Cow and I discussed predictions for I and NH.
We agree, so this is a joint prediction.
Trump lost to Ted Cruz in IA in 2016 27% to 26%–in a crowded field.
Trump got 97% in 2020 with no real opposition–keep that in mind.
Cow and I say the 2025 IA primary caucus results will be:
47% Trump (Trump supporters less likely to show up for FRIGID caucus because everyone knows he is WAY ahead)
23% Desantis (IA gov. endorsement helps, plus bigger ground game)
20% Haley
8% Vanswampy
Observation: There are a boatload of Florida leaders & former #DeSantis staff members, college buddies, who have come to Iowa on their own time and on their own dime to door-knock, call, & work for a @RonDeSantis victory in Iowa.
Where are the #Trump 2016 & 2020 folks? Not here.
Cabinet members?
“…former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis both have a shot at coming next, with 20 percent of likely attendees saying they’d opt for Haley and 16 for DeSantis. Ann Selzer, the longtime head of the Iowa Poll, cautioned that Haley’s support has an “underlying weakness” in enthusiasm, suggesting that low turnout could cut into her performance. More than a third of Haley and DeSantis supporters could be persuaded to back another candidate, compared to just 18 percent for Trump supporters, and Haley’s supporters are the most likely to back someone else, according to the poll (you can see other Iowa polls at DDHQ’s polling site).
It’s also probable that among Haley’s supporters are a bunch of former Democrats (I say former because you need to register as a Republican in order to participate in the GOP caucus, but you can do that on the day of the event). Since the Democratic caucus isn’t much of a contest, there’s a temptation to send an anti-Trump message via Haley, but I’m not sure that might not backfire in some respects once Iowans get down to it tonight.
Should Trump win with less than 50 percent, there will be spin (primarily from DeSantis’ camp) that this is a sign that the race is closer than polling might suggest. Count me somewhat skeptical of that argument for several reasons, but if Trump does get below 50 percent I think that’s meaningful, but less meaningful than if it were a two-person race. What interests me more is that among likely participants, 34 percent are attending for the first time. To me, that suggests some additional uncertainty or that the various ground games mostly funded by super PACs have had some impact.
Estimates of GOP turnout today are tricky, not just because of the weather. The 2020 caucus wasn’t much of an event; Trump won with 97% of the vote as 32,000 voters turned out. This year’s version should be more like the 2016 caucus, when about 186,000 Iowans caucused for GOP candidates. Depending on the weather, that’s probably a decent benchmark for tonight, but those who are attending for the first time might be less likely to show if weather is a factor.”
The fans literally could not have gotten to the game on Sunday due to the weather and the roads being closed.”
Horrors! You mean it is winter in Buffalo?
So Bitter, what do you think the perfect weather conditions should be for all fans to make it to a woke NFL game where EVERY fan will feel comfortable?
Sunny, mild (not too hot, not too cold), winds less than 5mph, not too humid, not too dry, low pollen count?
Hey, moron. There was a travel ban due to several FEET of snow on the road at game time. The issue was the fans not being able to get to and from the game. It was not the cold. Can you ever just accept being wrong? Wes was right about you.
IA (State Motto “We Are Always Full of Surprises”)
[WAAFOS]
2016–186,000 turnout for IA caucus
Crowed field of at least 11 candidates
27.6% Cruz
23.4% Trump 2nd
23.1% Rubio
9.3% Ben Carson
4.5% Ron Paul (yes, that many nut cases in IA)
2.3% JEB! (Bush)
rest below that…
2020–32,000 turnout
Trump gets 97% with no real opposition in re-election nomination bid
2024–??? turnout
But I predict it will be about 80,000 to 90,000 at the high end. The lower the turnout, the better it will be for DeSantis and Haley.
Why low turnout?
–bitter cold temps
–Trump way ahead, so a lot of his soft supporters will lay off attending these tiresome caucuses
“This goes without saying, but if Desantis pulls off a caucus win in Iowa, Trump will absolutely claim it’s rigged.
Just making sure everyone is prepared for that.“
These ladies are funny as heck and straight shooters. They also haven’t caved to Trump for clicks and views like the majority of conservative media has.
He hates Trump.
Campaigned in NH, participated in debates to highlight Trump flaws. Then drops out before the NH vote, so his voters will go for some other non-Trump candidate like RDS or Haley.
A staggering sum of money has been spent in Iowa – $250 million dollars. However, the ones spending the most have had some of the worst returns, so far. All eyes are now fastened on this first primary state with the underdogs seeking an upset, and the leader of the pack looking for a wipeout. I’m not going to make any numerical predictions. However, I do think Trump will ultimately win. Unless it’s close to or over 50% his win will be belittled as a failure to live up to expectations. DeSantis I believe will come in second. Anything else would be tragic because of all the time and money he has invested in this state. Haley will be 3rd, with a major portion of her unenthusiastic support coming from Dems who want to derail Trump
To win in Nov., the R candidate has to win more ECV than the D candidate.
What R candidate gets the most Registered D voters in Nov.?
1. Haley
2. DeSantis
a distant 3rd, Trump
What R get the most Registered Indy voters?
1. Haley
2. DeSantis
a distant 3rd, Trump
Whose R candidacy TURNs OUT the MOST D voters to vote against the R?
1. Trump
2. DeSantis
3. Haley
What R stands the best chance to win more votes of women, esp. Indys and Ds?
1. Haley
2. DeSantis
3. a distant 3rd, Trump
What R has about 10% of even REPUBLICAN voters who say they will not vote for candidate X?
1st. Trump
2nd Haley
3rd DeSantis
What candidate wins the FEWEST R base votes in the GE (100 x more than D votes for a R)
– Haley (a distant third)
Walt is talking about which R candidate is most “attractive” to Democrats, but that is not going to help unless the R candidate gets just about every R vote available,
I can tell you right now millions of Rs AND Indies (like me) will not vote for Haley, so it doesn’t really matter how many Dems vote for her, considering 95%+ of Dems will vote for Biden.
It was Hochul who banned driving. She wanted to ensure no one got to the game. It was a power grab. There have been bigger snowstorms in Buffalo before. TBH I think the NFL had a lot to do with it. They didn’t want a game where you couldn’t see the field because it would not have been “aesthetically pleasing” and made it hard on the announcers. Plus, they get a second game on a holiday when a lot of Americans are home and able to watch the game.
Don’t discount NFL HQ’s role in cancelling the game.
“Those taking part in the effort told NBC News they are studying Trump’s past actions and 2024 policy positions so that they will be ready if he wins in November. That involves preparing to take legal action and send letters to Trump appointees spelling out consequences they’d face if they undermine constitutional norms.”
So they are going to intimidate and threaten anyone in Trump’s cabinet, or who is associated with Trump.
Reading through the article, on a major network mind you, sends chills down my spine, because I believe this is going to be the strategy they use with any Republican going forward.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a time, in my lifetime, where an opposing party has flatly goneout and called their rivals dictators, etc to this degree. They are honestly trying to convince the American public (by they, I mean the media) that electing Trump (or any Republican) will result in a dictatorship.
Insane. Imagine if Reagan were running now, who is more conservative than Trump on every issue, and a stronger man. They would try to eviscerate him.
So every time there are travel bans during blizzards it is due to the NFL even if it not on a game day? Jason has developed a serious case of NFL Derangement Syndrome and Hochul Derangement Syndrome.
The only problem with the Dallas Cowboys losing is that they may finally get a coach who can win playoff games (Belichik) and cut ties with Dak (killer picks) Prescott after next season.
And since Russian hoaxing worked (aided and abetted by Rinos), they will do the same to any r incoming administration. How many”Rs” at this site fell for comedy/russian hoaxing?
Nobody got punished (threat to democracy) with jail time.
So the NFL scheduled the game and then created a blizzard in order to move the game to a holiday – instead of just scheduling the game on the holiday. Got it.
Bitter – That’s not what I said, or meant. What I said/implied was, don’t count out the NFL’s hand in this. If you don’t think they were consulted then you are the one, this time, who is being naive.
Regardless, you were correct, there was a travel ban and no one could have made it to the game, so the discussion is irrelevant. I am happy the game is today. I get to see the Bills take down the Steelers.
Vic – Although I hate all NFL teams except the Eagles, the Bills and Steelers are on the lower end of my hatred. It should be a good game but I expect the Bills to win.
I am currently listening to acDallas sports radio station because I love hearing the sadness.
Bitter – interesting, I saw the ad for that movie, was wondering if it was good.
The Boys (when I have them) and I have watched the Jack Ryan series, Manifest, For All Mankind. All were really good, though Manifest took a year to take off (the oldest likes to binge watch a series).
With regards to Reagan, yes, his skin was much thicker, and he had a very self-deprecating sense of humor BUT he didn’t just sit there and take it (I paid for this mike!!…his 1964 anti-socialist speach, etc). He was proudly and unapologetically America First at a time when the Left wanted to acquiesce to the Soviets (detente) because that’s the society they really want (where the elites decide what is right and wrong and all that don’t comply are mouth breathers).
Reagan would not stand for being called a dictator, or use a “pronoun” LOL.
Nikki Haley and her friends in the defense industry created the blizzard in Buffalo in order to get the Marxist Democrats and the Woke NFL to postpone the game because she bet on Dallas.
Doug Burgum and, right before the caucus event, Marco Rubio have endorsed Trump. That makes endorsements from both FL senators.
Speaking of presidents who were mocked and considered unacceptable for the job, both Lincoln and Reagan occupied that column. Age and a risk of nuclear war were unfavorable concerns brought up by anti Reagan people – very similar to criticisms lobbed at Trump.
My “comparison” was how they were criticized for some of the same issues (age and temperment) that Trump has taken incoming on.
In the meantime the RDS staff made a last minute mistake that is not giving them good caucus-eve press.

Matt Kim is a disabled podcaster, sitting in a wheelchair, when RDS people picked up his wheelchair and deposited it and him outside the venue in 12 degree weather. His social media account soon went viral, after which Trump invited him to join his press crew on Monday.

I haven’t really seen anyone making this point but the fact that Trump is racking up endorsements from US Senators all over the country, including former opponents, all but means the primary contest has ended

Geeeez Bitter…..my first post compared age and nuclear war concerns with Reagan. Go back and read it. My second post was more general ——> My “comparison” was how they (no names, just a general reference because I was hurriedly posting) were criticized for some of the same issues (age and temperment) that Trump has taken incoming on. Sparring with you is fun until you become too petty, just so you can win a point.
I reread your comment. You did not discuss age related to Lincoln. So I was wrong. Your Trump worship and sad belief that a lifetime Democrat billionaire is fighting for you is still misplaced. Trump fights only for Trump.
A myth has been created and it has grown totally out of control
While he was alive most people disliked him, yet today he is the most honored, worshipped, even deified person of the 20th century
Today we are going to tell the truth and explain how this myth was born
I swear these MAGA people act like Woke Commie Dems more everyday. Let’s rewrite history now.
MLK ahead his flaws much like Trump you @$$ hole. But he was the leader of the civil rights movement. That was not a myth. These people are freaking crazy.
Dr. King was not perfect (I don’t agree with his anti-Vietnam War position and womanizing for example). However, he was a brave man who faced down the racist scum (many of whom were Democrats) who were determined to deny basic civil rights to blacks. He gave his life in that struggle and deserves the respect paid to him.
I forgot if I made a prediction yesterday, or did I? I mentioned cream sodas, so maybe I did.
Anyhow, I’ll be the outlier and go with a tiny RDS win. I don’t think it’s likely, but I don’t like prediction herding anymore than I do that of polling. If people demand numbers, let’s go with;

From the article Tina posted above:
