“A group of about thirty faculty members of the University of Pennsylvania went to Israel this week on a three-day solidarity visit. They arrived on Tuesday. They have met with President Isaac Herzog and they have taken a group photo inside a bomb shelter during their visit to Kibbutz Kfar Aza in the south of Israel. The photo was taken after the all-clear siren alerted the community.
Their packed itinerary included meetings with government officials, visits to major universities and a tour of devastated communities in the Gaza envelope, where hundreds were brutally tortured and murdered on October 7.
The group is also scheduled to meet with Penn alumni and attend an academic conference on trauma at Tel Aviv University on Thursday before returning to the US.
Ron Berman, Associate Professor of Marketing at Wharton, said the group is on a mission to build bridges with Israeli academic community members and to see the impact of the Hamas attacks. “

“Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer (R-MO) on Thursday became the latest House Republican to forgo reelection, adding to the total of nearly 20 representatives who have shared plans to depart Congress. “
Not sure of the running total.
I thought it was already over 30-35 who will not be running forereelection to House due to running for other offices, retire3, being put in jail or whatever.
The Iowa caucus event is shaping up to be very contested. Trump continues to be ahead, by a goodly margin (around 50%), with DeSantis around near 18% and Haley @ 16%. However, DJT is taking no chances having 2 caucus sessions today and another 2 tomorrow. He’s also having a strong lineup of surrogates pitching for him from now to the 15th of the month.
In the meantime Haley is negatively reverting to saying Trump’s indictments should be continued as there may be something to them (seemingly hoping this would be her way. forward as a nominee not facing the frontrunner). As for DeSantis, he’s chiming in dissmg those involved with the J6 protests, claiming they were not patriots. Considering that a major portion, of those J6ers imprisoned, reside in FL., DeSantis has done absolutely nothing to help or ameliorate their charges or jail sentences, but has openly criticized Trump for not pardoning them (even though there was no time left for that to happen). Furthermore, Trump has held a multitude of fundraisers, met personally with some J6 people, helping to defray their legal costs. Voters do notice such disparities as to who has their back and who doesn’t. And DeSantis, despite his lofty clean credentials, continues to distance himself from the very people needed to support his candidacy.
Walt, I am all in favor of LEGAL immigration. I particularly want to make U.S. citizens those who escaped communist regimes with nothing more than the clothes on their backs–people who would work hard, thank God every day to be in America, and vote to ensure that communism never takes over our country.
Jan, setting aside RDS, will have to disagree on one thing; Trump had plenty of time to issue an open-ended, broad pardon of anyone involved in J6, the same way Carter pardoned the draft dodgers.
Walt/Cow, I’m a hard sell on VA, I just don’t see it happening barring a total Biden implosion.
Bitter, consider me a yes vote in Wes. I found out after the fact, I lost a few other friends to cancer last year as well. Didn’t get to go to any of the funerals or memorials.
I am just saying that Virginia is in play. A lot of states are in play should momentum go to one side and the other implodes. The 17 states that I have as “in play” this way include:
It should be a quick 9-0 decision, with a reprimand of the CO kangaroo court. But we live in a country where CA is going to give free genital mutilations to illegal immigrants. So who knows what will happen.
If the SCOTUS rules against Trump, then pandora’s box is opened, and it can only lead to a day when virtually every election will require a write-in campaign.
GF, I wasn’t aware of the availability of something called a “broad pardon.” Of course, being there were only two weeks left in Trump’s presidency, and the J6 prosecutions were executed over a long period of time (still being hunted down today), how many pardons could have been issued when there have been 1000-1200 people effected by these charges?
Judicial Watch just filed a civil law suite for $30 million on behalf of Ashli Babbitt. This should be a substantial legal challenge to the conduct of the Capitol police on that day. There have been a lot of contradictory videos and first person testimonies, heard and seen, that put the Capitol police in a less than favorable light. Supposedly the guy that
point-blank shot Ashli Babbitt, without any warning, was “promoted” to captain recently, despite a record of incompetent performances.
The officer Byrd is incompetent, He shot ashli while her hands were up. Officers were behind him and did not even draw their guns. They had their backs turned.
This same officer left his glock in a Capitol bathroom.
Today Team USA won the Gold at the World Juniors in Sweden! They all sang with gusto the national anthem. No kneeling. Hockey players are the least woke of all the institutions left 😂. Salt of the earth.
Haven’t had old Trump come up in a session in a long time. Today a client was complaining about a MAGA lady in his work IT team always talking about Trump. I played it straight… but definitely understood.
I don’t think I will ever retire. If I do, I have a list of Judges I want to tell how I feel about their antics. It would have to be my last day as a lawyer because the Discipline Boards of PA and New Jersey would need to set aside time for the proceedings to yank my licenses.
Haley is a globalist, aligned with NATO, WHO, WEF, and open borders generating cheap labor for her corporate donors. Trump is a nationalist, aligned with the needs and dreams of the American people.
I honestly believe our ‘solutions’ will rise up from decentralization and massive organization & activation in red states first. To seize back our most powerful institutions of governance under the constraints of the Constitution it must be done at the local level…School districts, cities, states, etc…
Defeating the globalist agenda, CRT, DEI, lawlessness, transgender craziness, debt, etc…is critical to my children’s future.
The truth is this … we do not have enough uncompromising Constitutional conservatives committed on our side and the large majority of the GOP that show up after being elected don’t DO anything to address the most critical issues of our day…it’s lip service and zero action.
Yes I would love to never talk about Trump again. Yes HE did some good things. Yes he also contributed much to continue the downward path our country is on … if you’re being honest.
In my opinion he is the biggest barrier to TRUE solutions and reform NOW.. He lacks the character. He makes grandiose promises he will never keep. He is not a conservative or constitutional. He will be a lame duck in the very slight chance he is elected. He is also a massive distraction and HUGE divider of freedom movements.
I realize that we DO need real leadership at the national level to act as an example to local leaders and put good pressure on congress- to SHOW them how to govern ethically and constitutionally. NOT a SAVIOR but a servant leader. DeSantis has already been that example. He is that person who has made a huge difference at the state level and is also the least likely to cave if elected. Finally who ever the next GOP President is … they will need a full eight years to deconstruct the corrupted administrative state.
Trump is a lifelong Democrat billionaire opportunist. He pushed the same Dr. Fauci you hate to prominence. In case you haven’t noticed, the US IS a member of NATO. He cares about one person and it is not you, Jan. If he is the nominee, he will get my vote – again- but I can’t stand him as a person.
I am not retiring either. I know some Judges can be real a holes in their courtrooms. I would imagine it would be very difficult to keep silent at times. I take great precaution to stay out of any legal situations. I constantly evaluate legal risk with the people I serve.
Bitter, Trump was a registered democrat, but he contributed to an array of people of different political affiliations, including Reagan (who was also a life long dem before he became a Republican). Trump has crude, rude mannerisms, but was an effective leader for 4 years. His affiliation with Fauci was during a confusing medical crisis in which Fauci was considered the preeminent doctor in the field of infectious disease, just like Biden fooled people that he would be a gentle uniter of our polarized country.
Similar to Jeff (something I can’t say often) my husband and I steer clear of legal entanglements. Suing someone or being sued is like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Reagan was a Republican and conservative for decades. You sound like Tgca. There is no excuse and no justification for Trump donating to extreme leftists for decades.
Well… my son in law was just appointed Solicitor General at the state level. BL he assured me the down ballot vote won’t impact him in November 😂…so they ain’t moving. You were right.
>i>”The media’s latest attempt at ‘making yellow journalism great again’ comes courtesy of CNN, who tried to report on a story about yet two MORE states where they are trying to remove Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot. You know, to ‘protect’ democracy.
Looking at the headline in this tweet, you’d think people all over the states of Illinois and Massachusetts are rising up against the Bad Orange Man.
Except … yeah, not so much.
Just a cursory examination of the facts here shows that the petitions in both states are not a grassroots voter movement, but instead a coordinated attack from one far-left activist group, Free Speech for People (yes, we laughed at the irony of the group’s name too).
But it gets even better. The ‘groups of voters’ CNN refers to in Illinois? It was five people. Not 5,000. Not 500. Not even 50.
He killed the American Dream. The amount of debt and printing of money during Trumps administration added prior to Biden was the main cause of the runaway inflation that began in early 2021. He refused to leverage the debt ceiling negotiations to cut the national debt. Trumps administration choices led to the biggest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the Uber rich in history. No one wants to talk about that part. My adult children making decent money have car loans like house payments and who knows if they will ever afford buying a home in a decent area. It’s not all Biden’s fault.
Reagan re-registered in 1962, when he was middle aged @ 51, changing from being a life long dem to Republican. People evolve oftentimes as they get older. Reagan was a steadfast supporter of democrats until Eisenhower’s presidency which started his transition to Republican. Everyone has different stages and ages when they begin to shed some of their beliefs or ideologies. Holding it against Trump the political contributions he made as a democrat seems meaningless. Basically just stick with, you don’t like the man.
The base layer of society is broken (money) so no amount of “reform” fixes anything. Both sides dare each other not use the money printer because they knew if they can convince the other side.
The best you can hope for is no wars and a meme lord sorry.
The household incomes of the middle and lower classes increased significantly during the Trump presidency, especially when compared to any increases under the Bush or Obama administrations. In fact it’s these very classes, who received financial benefits and greater ease to cultivate their own businesses under Trump’s policies, are the ones currently voting for him this time. The more wealthy individuals actually received no tax advantages or few benefits from Trump.
SCOTUS took Colorado 14th case. That should be addressed in February. The immunity case arguments are next week in DC appeals.
Trump isn’t going to prevail in DC and SCOTUS might not get involved we will see. They already ruled against him on executive privilege regarding Jan 6th.
Deregulation helped, Incomes increased as usual and tax cuts helped but his deficit spending offset any “real” gains…in fact the inflation from it is a net negative in 2021 and the tax cuts end next year.
BS. You sound like Tgca. The New Deal Democrats of Reagan’s younger days would be considered reactionary racists by today’s progressives. Trump said that Bill Clinton was the greatest President in his lifetime. He supported Hillary’s Senate bids AND her 2008 Presidential. What cult-like hold does he have over you? I rank him as better than the Democrat Presidents in my lifetime but rank him as the lowest of the Republicans.
Trump said Bill Clinton, not Reagan, was the greatest President of his lifetime. Trump supported Hillary’s Senate races and 2008 Presidential run. Defend that. I rank Trump as the lowest of Republican Presidents in my lifetime.
The one constant in my life is that no matter who is President, I still have to go to work. No difference from Clinton to Biden since I became a lawyer in 1993.
Overall Trump had a short term positive impact…his legacy like it or not will be beating the establishment candidates Bush and Clinton, appointing 3 SCOTUS judges that gave us Dobbs, being politically persecuted, Covid, BLM riots and January 6th. The financial gains were short lived.
In some earlier polls Clinton and Reagan got the two top spots as “best” presidents ever. I’ve heard,, during the current election cycle, people enthusiastically say Trump is the best president, ever, during their own lifetime. Such ratings vary from year to year with people, and are not poured in concrete. Trump and the Clinton’s hung around in the same social circles before he ran for office. So, his opinion was based probably more on the mutual social environment they shared, which I think may have lingered into his presidency, leading to reasons why he did not pursue Hillary for her constitutional crimes, as well as why he supported her during her Senate and 2008: presidential run over Obama. Again, meaningless reasons to gauge someone’s career or presidency on.

Jan, setting aside RDS, will have to disagree on one thing; Trump had plenty of time to issue an open-ended, broad pardon of anyone involved in J6, the same way Carter pardoned the draft dodgers.

Democrat implosion puts them in play:
CO, ME, NH, MN, NM, VA
Republican implosion puts them in play:
FL, IA, NC, OH, TX
Key Battleground states regardless:

Why do you trash Trump so much?
I do not hate Trump. But I don’t respect him.
This is not a reality show.

Bitter, Trump was a registered democrat, but he contributed to an array of people of different political affiliations, including Reagan (who was also a life long dem before he became a Republican). Trump has crude, rude mannerisms, but was an effective leader for 4 years. His affiliation with Fauci was during a confusing medical crisis in which Fauci was considered the preeminent doctor in the field of infectious disease, just like Biden fooled people that he would be a gentle uniter of our polarized country.

>i>”The media’s latest attempt at ‘making yellow journalism great again’ comes courtesy of CNN, who tried to report on a story about yet two MORE states where they are trying to remove Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot.
