The RNC announced Friday it would pause its participation in future 2024 GOP primary debates, at least for now. Politico reported the RNC’s decision meant any future debates will be hosted by networks independently of the committee. Media outlets therefore will determine benchmarks for participation in debates, not the RNC.
“We have held four successful debates across the country with the most conservative partners in the history of a Republican primary. We have no RNC debates scheduled in January and any debates currently scheduled are not affiliated with the RNC,” the RNC’s Committee on Presidential Debates said in a statement. “It is now time for Republican primary voters to decide who will be our next President and candidates are free to use any forum or format to communicate to voters as they see fit.”
The RNC is catering to the former President. Nevertheless two other debates in IA and NH are happening…😂😂😂.
Based on criteria it’s ONLY RDS vs Haley for both debates.
The question is when and if it come down to a one on one with DJT at all. Haley $ backers may ask her to drop out as RDS a would have a much better chance.
The polling has set a very high bar of expectation for DJT of a 40-50 point margin nationally. Which he promotes all the time. If Trump averages under 40% in IA,NH,NV,SC, (terrible for a former President that is viewed as the leader) and 60% want another candidate I think he would be in trouble even without an RDS or Haley win. We will see.
This is where I think NOT debating has hurt him. Who knows how many unsure voters he is losing…regardless but he won’t come close to the national polling national averages of 60%.
The debates so far have not worked out in changing the numbers of its participants. I’ve only watched the news nation one and found the dramatic verbal confrontations lending no substance, only jabs and outbursts. People I know have either not watched the debates at all, or tired of them, turning them off before they were over. I probably wouldn’t tune in to them even if Trump was there. I just have never found them that interesting nor informative, except to see the body language or how each candidate publicly comported themselves.
No. I am the epitome of those who can’t do, teach. I coach with a guy in his 70s who loves the game and drawing up plays. The girls ignore most of them. I focus more on the big picture stuff – the other team has a good player with asthma. Fast tempo until she needs her inhaler. On rebounding, God gave you elbows so use them. I also set up the rotations since there is equal playing time. It is ok to have one bad player on the court at one time. 2? Lose.
” This is where I think NOT debating has hurt him.”
I think just the opposite. By making a judgment call not to participate in these debates he has separated himself from the squabbling political flock of candidates, creating a more independent thinking, strong-minded image of himself.
Bitter – interesting stuff. Sometimes people do coach because they were players at one time. My dear father-in-law played basketball and eventually wanted to coach a team. Unfortunately that never happened. I used to be on a star basketball team in 8th grade, and loved the sport.
The debates matter A TON. Jan you are about 25%-30% of the DJT diehards. The rest of us make up the majority of the primary electorate. People are still deciding.
Trump has no where near 61% RCP average national support. I am sure you haven’t paid much attention to the second choice in polls that include that. It shows Trumps top line numbers are very soft.
If he averages close to 50% he will be extremely fortunate. If he is under 40% average in the first four states with only two other candidates left it is not a good look for him. The January 6th ongoing trial is going to put a ton of doubt in people’s mind as voting occurs as well.
The field is narrowing fast.
One on one he will lose to RDS and he would beat Haley.
Bitter I see Trump more as a phenomenon (like my son but for different reasons), an intemperate type of man with lots of human flaws who is custom-made for the trials, tribulations and “snarkiness” of our time. Everyone else seems to be made of plaster of Paris, whereas DJT is like a rusty anchor embedded in goals activated by a principled combativeness directly addressing the working classes.
Jan I realize you believe 61% of Trumps poll RCP average are just like you.
They are not.
RDS is separating himself. He has gotten great follow up coverage from both recent debates. To the point all the large following conservative radio voices and Daily Wire are covering him everyday now.

“Casey DeSantis clarified these comments during an event in Iowa later on Friday, noting that the campaign knows “that they cannot vote in the caucus process, but they can come and volunteer and they can be a part of it in that way, so you’re seeing people from North Carolina, from South Carolina, from Florida, in particular coming because they feel so strongly about protecting the future of their kids.”
It’s kinda of obvious to me but get one moron to twist something.
So Casey has called for a broad coalition of Moms & Grandmas from around the country to participate in the Iowa caucus.
Why it matters -> Though these folks cannot obviously vote, they can advocate and push for a candidate legally and have those conversations with the voters on Iowa caucus day. There’s nothing that prohibits them from showing up from out of state to do this. It’s no secret DeSantis is miles ahead on grassroots efforts as well as his ground game. Think 99 county tour.
He already has a number of folks lined up to be at each polling station on Iowa caucus day earning votes and persuading folks to vote for him over the other options. Trumps ground game is not as good and uneven as he hasn’t made the effort to invest in Iowa. It’s not strong anywhere else either so even when he learns of this, there’s not a lot he can do. He didn’t make the necessary efforts to be prepared for this. Bussing folks to Iowa costs money too.
You may have some polling stations here that have barely any Trump spokespeople. Insert DeSantis, who is smart enough to have them at all locations and then add in the folks from out of state, Moms and Grandmas…
Which vote does that significantly boost? Women! Not exactly a group that is in love with the orange king.
Picture a long line of voters. Say Trump has 20 spokespeople and DeSantis has 20 spokespeople. Then add in the folks from out of state, say that adds on 10. Now DeSantis has 30 and that is 10 more to effectively and efficiently move through those lines and talk to people. It’s more ammunition and firepower. With as little as Trump has tried or invested in Iowa, I think this example is a generous one.
Folks, I hope you’re ready.
This is what DeSantis has to do. Who he has to be. This is absolutely necessary and checkers to the chess he will be playing for the GE.
Get stoked because we are going all the way to TAKE THIS COUNTRY BACK!!!!!!!!! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
JeffP, that DeSantis and wife clip is seriously weird. It does seem like Casey is calling for everyone to descend on Iowa and participate in their caucus event. How else can you interpret her words?

Biden: “All these mass murders, not this weekend, but have been because people have picked up, kids have grabbed stuff off of counters … we need to ban assault weapons”
Biden tells a story about “a crotchety old son of a gun” named “McCullough” from 1972:
“McCullough looked at me and said, ‘I’m gonna endorse you, Biden, because you understand what we’re doing But damn boy, I’m not sure I’m doing the right thing
Andrea Mitchell upset that the special counsel “used Hunter’s own memoir against him”
You can’t make this sh-t up.
“But the optics here are so troubling for the first family,” she bemoaned to New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker. And despite admitting that Hunter had put all the “salacious and embarrassing” details out himself, she reiterated that she didn’t like how the “special council is using his own memoir against him.”
Janzam and Tina’s hero Putin announces he will be in power for another 6 years. Janzam and Tina to rejoice that their darling “Pooty Poot” will be around for another 6 years to commit war crimes.
Of course, they will be here in 3, 2, 1 to attack legitimate President Zelensky for correctly postponing elections during martial law and with a quarter of the country occupied by the invaders.
Janzam and Tina don’t understand that Zelensky would win in a landslide right now since most of the areas that can vote (non-occupied) are very pro-Zelensky and pro-Euro.
I don’t ever recall a potential First Lady calling for a national “participation” in an election. Sure, people travel from different states to protest or help their party out, however Casey DeSantis’s plea was unusual and spoken in such confusing terms she had to quickly walk back. Also, for months DeSantis and wife have done everything but move their zip code to Iowa, barnstorming all 90+ counties, concentrating on rural areas, paying off people for endorsements, why do they feel so anxious about Iowa that they have to ask for national help from people during the caucusing event?
”In an interview with Patrick Bet-David this week, Robert Kennedy Jr. said something about the eventual Democrat presidential nominee I hadn’t considered. “If he were going to drop out,” Kennedy said, referring to Biden, “the time to drop out would be during the convention because then he would control the delegates, because they’re all Biden delegates, and he would then be able to pick his successor.”
The idea being that Biden, with the full Democrat apparatus behind him, would lock up the nomination by formally “running” but then direct all of his secured delegates to fall behind someone else, either because he knows he can’t endure a general election campaign, or because he’s been told he better not try.”
Quiz: what do the names “Lucky Me” and “My Legacy” purportedly have in common?
Answer: the names of two yachts, docked elsewhere, owned by President Zelensky.
Zzzzzzzz. Trump is a BILLIONAIRE and Jan complains about Zelensky. He was a successful entertainer before becoming President. He could have fled Ukraine. Instead, he stayed and cast his lot with his people.
Tons of out-of-state volunteers are always part of the Iowa caucus. Camping out in Iowa has always been part of the process. Where have you been for the past 30 years, Jan?
The yacht story is a complete fabrication. Zelensky neither owns nor has he purchased any yachts. Of course janzam doesn’t mind lying on Putin’s behalf.
I wish Zelensky had an aircraft carrier. No matter what he owns, none of it changes the fact that Putin is 100% responsible the Russian invasion and all consequences.
janzam will be pleased to know this….. Moscow says Crimea, and parts of occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson oblasts would be included in the upcoming Russian elections on March 15-17, 2024. ‘Cause Putin loves Democracy.
The Zelensky yacht piece came from a news commentator this morning. The names seemed very fitting for what he might use, as well as just funny (LOL type of thing) to me. So I posted them, using “purportedly”, as a way to say unverified. But, those who like to make a big deal out of small things instantly got on their high horses with propaganda, scumbag retorts. While there’s no free lunch here, there is also no humor, unless it’s approved by a-holes or TDS crew members.
Just watched the 1959 classic Ben Hur once again. The chariot race is the most intense and thrilling scene ever put out by Hollywood. And back then they had to film everything the old fashioned way. No computer assistance.
So Janzam, how does an ex-KGB thug like Putin have enough money to buy a $700 million yacht?
Btw, we are still waiting for your answer on how much sovereign territory Ukraine should surrender and how many millions of Ukrainians are you advocating to be enslaved?

Vivek is actually the worst of the three who don’t qualify for office, maybe even worse than Biden who doesn’t qualify either. His ignorance of the issues is so great that he actually a danger to the country.

Before he died, Wes said he would vote for Biden if Trump was the nominee. Some of HHR’s alleged conservatives will sit out and let Biden or another Democrat be elected with their approval by not opposing them. If there is life after death, Wes must be smoking.
Yep, it is true that conservatives are hopelessly divided. It is unfortunate and only the Dems benefit from this division. We see it in Congress, we see it in the states, we see it here at HHR.

Zzzzzzzz. Trump is a BILLIONAIRE and Jan complains about Zelensky. He was a successful entertainer before becoming President. He could have fled Ukraine. Instead, he stayed and cast his lot with his people.

Yes, everyone who is involved in a campaign is “participating” in it.
Just about EVERY campaign in history brings in volunteers from other states.
The fact this is too “deep” for Janzam to understand says a lot about Janzam, a pathological liar.

Zelensky was a successful and wealthy man way before he became President. He can have a yacht if he wants.
Of course, maybe Janzam would like to explain how an ex-KGB thug like Putin owns a $700 million yacht.
We are waiting. This should be good.
