Many are voicing surprise that DeSantis said the quiet part out loud today on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.
Going into this contest, Ron and his team were cognizant of the fact that Trump commands an insurmountable hold over the party’s rank and file.
To the DeSantis campaign, Trump is not a candidate to defeat at the ballot box or caucus meeting, but an obstacle to be removed, even if it means employing underhanded tactics that disenfranchise voters.
For months, the DeSantis campaign has spoken from both sides of its mouth. On one hand, espousing the idea that a robust and competitive primary process serves to yield a stronger, battle-tested nominee. On the other hand, pleading with other candidates to drop out at various stages and coalesce behind Ron.
Forcing a brokered convention with an outcome that circumvents the will of voters was always the end goal, and those who didn’t see it are either blind or idealistic about their party to a fault.
When the Bragg indictment came down, it was no coincidence that Ron’s response was a disparaging remark about “paying off pornstars.”
When the second indictment came down, Ron’s snide remark about “documents by the toilet at Mar-a-Lago” was an intentional move to validate the Democrats’ weaponization of our justice system, because he views it as politically advantageous to himself.
Ron’s flip-flop from talking about the need for election integrity measures and enumerating problems with the 2020 election to now claiming that Biden won the election fair and square because “Biden won the debate in October 2020” is yet another example of this strategy.
Notice Ron’s silence on the sham Colorado trial to have Trump removed from the ballot?
Any attempt to disenfranchise the majority of the party’s voters will lead to a historic Democrat victory regardless of who Democrats choose as their nominee. As we know, there are people in the GOP party leadership who would prefer that outcome over a Trump second term.

JeffP, knowing how politically motivated, and even unconstitutional, those indictments are, I give them little relevance. In fact if Trump was fraudulently indicted it would be a move downgrading our free elections, putting us on the road faster towards a totalitarian society. As for RDS’s part in all this, he is skidding towards leftist broadcasts, shilling for those who want Trump taken out by lawfare motions. It is exhibiting, IMO, an unattractive side of him where he is more concerned about self preservation than preserving the principles creating open elections unobstructed by lawfare gimmicks.

Also, the moderators at the end compared the audience responses to the various candidate’s speeches, coming to the conclusion that Trump’s audience was more enthusiastic with more standing ovations than any of the other presentations. However, it won’t be until we have the actual primaries will anyone know who is really ahead. I know you are all in for RDS, and my husband and I are increasingly more supportive and confident in DJT’s ability to win the primary and the general. Sitting on the sidelines, clutching one’s moral equivalence, citing an Ukrainian victory here and there as reasons to continue this fight, while ignoring the bigger picture of war fatigue, a diminishing Ukrainian fighting force, and the uninterrupted corruption still present and draining away the aid given to it, seems irrationally senseless.

Just to make this clear…Accepting the reality that Trump has a very high probability to be found guilty out of dozens of charges in a jury trial in bad jurisdictions isn’t an endorsement of the corrupt lawfare or a strategy for RDS to win the nomination.

Bitter, I don’t see how you can be such a blind hawk in calling for the continuation of this war You treat the Ukrainian/Russian war like it’s some kind of “fight club” match, seemingly dismissing the heavy loss of life and property this war has waged on Ukraine, amidst the heavy corruption of funding being provided by the U.S., and admitted to by insider officials. Zelensky, though, is lost in his own denial, firing those (recently one of his deputies) for speaking honestly about the counter offensive being a failure and the war at a ”stalemate.” Why is there no comment about using middle age people on the front lines, because the ranks of youthful conscripts have been depleted? What about the insertion of big corporations like Blackrock and others, profiting off this war? What about our own mounting debt, and the fact it’s been difficult selling bonds that nobody wants to buy to cover some of this debt? The variables amassing around this overseas conflict are much more complex than simply spouting a win vs lose scenario as the only solution.

We have a lot of violence by the fans now even at HS football games, pro football games.
And at political rallies, all sorts of things.
Amount of violent rhetoric has even notably increased from posters at HHS.

Whoever posted the Paladin 2024 Presidential Dashboard using an “Anonymous” handle, I think that you mistakenly used the Gonzales predictions for the *House races* in ME-02 and NE-02 rather its predictions for the 2024 presidential results in those districts. No way could Gonzales differ so much from the other toupees — or expect such a huge change from 2020 — as to predict that the rural ME-02 CD is “Lean D” for president in 2024 (as redrawn, it went for Trump by 6% in 2020 even as it has reelected its Democratic Congressman Jared Golden in 2020 and 2022, and the other two toupees have the 2024 presidential contest there as Lean R or Likely R) or that the Omaha-based NE-02 CD is “Safe R” for president in 2024 (as redrawn, it went for Biden by over 6% in 2020, even as it has reelected its Republican Congressman Don Bacon in 2020 and 2022, and the other two toupees have the 2024 presidential contest there as Lean D or Likely D).
And I think that thr sages st Paladin shoild reconsider their predictions for the presidential race in ME-02 and NE-02 once the proper predictions from Gonzales are reported.
