Bitter, when you launched the Phoenix Edition of HHR, my only comment to the format was that the posts weren’t numbered, which meant that we couldn’t make reference to “post #36” or whatever when commenting on what someone said. I was told that it wasn’t necessary, because one could reply to the particular post to which one was referring. I didn’t like the fact that it would result in my post appearing way upthread instead as the most recent post, but I let it go. But now, we’re no longer given the choice to reply to a particular post. Could you see if it’s possible for posts to be numbered?

This is in regards to the number of Jewish-Americans kidnapped by Hamas and taken to Gaza. Israel puts the total number of hostages being held captive by Hamas in the 200s, and only a percent of them would be American citizens.
The number of American citizens in Gaza, most of whom would be Palestinian-American, who are not able to leave because Hamas is standing in the way of their leaving may total around 500, but that does not seem to be what the point about “hostages” being spread online is.

Rick Wilson, who was never McCain’s campaign manager, did not make a comment about Trump today, but back in 2015.
He was speaking rhetorically about the influence of campaign donors and ability to stop a campaign, but it was not something anybody should have said, rhetorically or not.
The main point is how does something that was clearly said back in 2015 get posted online to make people believe it was said “today?”

“murder” and said racial prejudice is a reality that is “uncomfortable” and “painful” but that “people need to recognize as fact.”
What he said at the time is very similar to what Nikki Haley also said and has gotten criticism for.
Of course, some people here will post that they believe George Floyd caused his own death and that Derek Chauvin was innocent.

However, considering all the stressful lawsuits he and his family/friends are going through, slurring words would be a mild response. Lots of people would resort to drinking. I understand he abstains. He has slurred his words on multiple occasions in videos I have watched recently … they are out there …nothing dramatic. Many others have commented on it as well. I saw it on the videos he released tonight. A lot on S & R words. He really has to concentrate hard when pronouncing words. He has also misspoke on several occasions lately. It’s obvious to me he is not as sharp as 2016 or 2020 on the campaign. I am in very good health and shape at 63 and don’t plan on retiring doing what I do, but I can’t imagine running for President at 77. These old politicians need to go home and enjoy their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Already making accusations of cheating in the upcoming primary makes him look like a paranoid nut case. The stress has got to be getting to him. He is about to get raked in the NY financial case. I don’t think Biden or him make it to the general. My son in law is negotiating an out at his current appointment if RDS wins it all…LOL. He isn’t political at all but is a great lawyer and litigator for the state AG.

I have issues with many candidates I vote for also. I certainly have issues with Trump. However, I draw the line at voting for someone who I don’t consider qualified for the office. In my view, Haley, Vivek and Christie are not qualified to be President. It is the reason I didn’t vote for Trump in 2016 even though I agreed that policy wise he was a lot better than Hillary.
I have admitted I was wrong about Trump. Maybe I am wrong about Haley. Maybe, like Trump, she will win without my vote and be a good President.
But you have to follow your principles. I don’t vote for people I consider unfit for the office for which they are running. It doesn’t matter to me if the opponent is not fit either.

I am not going to say that was always my view. In Texas I campaigned and contributed to candidates I didn’t think were qualified. But I was a R then and party came first, and like Bitter I believed any R was better than a Dem (still do, actually). I worked hard for whatever slate of candidates Rs put up and that was it. Initially when I came to PA I did the same thing.
But starting in 2016 when I became an Indie I no longer feel that obligation. I don’t have a say any longer in the slate Rs put up and I no longer feel obliged to vote for all of them.

Over 3 times the amount of fentanyl plus other drugs in his system was the cause of death, according to the medical examiner’s report. There was no evidence of any injuries around his neck area. Floyd was complaining of breathing problems when they initially were attempting to put him in the police car. Floyd is the one who asked to be placed instead on the ground. Another, less circulated photo taken of Floyd, when he was on the ground, showed the officer placed a knee on his shoulder, not his neck, to keep him down awaiting transfer for medical attention. However, medics were slow to reach him because of the crowds blocking their immediate access. So, where in this incident did the police case Floyd’s death? Do facts matter anymore?

When a high ranking aide to Zelensky tells a long established, left-leaning publication that the “corrupt stealing of American funds is widespread,” why doesn’t that spark just a little concern among those obsessively focused on overseas borders rather than on our own? Has Bitter or Jason ever looked for independent news and video coverage of our southern border, showing massive caravans lining the roads headed north to America – predicted to have up to 500,000 a month crossing over illegally until the election? Why, when the Fed is looking to sell $1.6 trillion of our debt in the next 5 months, a move that will surely increase interest rates, is not discussed here because providing for Ukraine’s economy (paying pensions and wages) appears to be more important than helping our economy’s exploding debt? However, the video angle of a knee on Floyd’s neck was distorted, projecting a wrong placement image of the knee. A straight on shot of the restraint move showed the knee was on Floyd’s shoulder, which is why the ME’s report specifically pointed out there were no injuries around the neck or signs of suffocation . But, as you always see yourself as being right about everything, facts be damned, you will just press onward with your false interpretations.

Bitter, your own thinking is obtuse when saying it’s ok to raise our debt, by sending money to Ukraine (in spite of Ukraine insiders saying it’s being abused by theft), because Biden won’t secure the border no matter what. I know Biden won’t reallocate funding from Ukraine to the southern border!. However, weaning ourselves off of Ukraine aid will help reallocate monies in the direction of lowering our own debt, and perhaps spur Europe to help it’s neighbor more than we are doing.

These youthful protests have no clue that they are useful idiots that only exacerbate the problems of the world. And these include all those ‘college students’ that Biden wants to make sure they don’t have to pay back any college loan debt. (if any protestors are here on foreign visas or on education visas, they should be immediately sent home (wherever that is) and permanently denied reentry to the U.S. Any college professors who demonstrate in support of Hamas should be fired immediately.
3. We have colleges and universities in the U.S. who have policies to only have liberal views expressed and forbid the expression of conservative views.
4. We ignore existing law and continue to allow the foreign invasion of now over 10 million mostly unchecked illegal aliens pour across the southern border in about 2 and 1/2 years. (since Jan., 2021) and this foreign invasion is costing the U.S. taxpayers BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.
This cannot continue without even greater bad repercussions within the U.S.
5. We have employees of the Dept. of Homeland Security, and the State Department who on social media post “Death to Israel”, “We need to destroy Israel” etc. and they WORST that has happened to them is they have been put on administrative leave (NOT fired).
6. We have pro Hamas students at Ithica and elsewhere who have posted social media things about how they are” going to bring a gun to campus,” “commit a shooting at the Jewish cafeteria, on campus” and slit the throats of Jewish students” (at least the one at Ithica was arrested and jailed and awaiting trial).
7. We have a president who made a very poorly thought-out retreat and evacuation from Afghanistan that has emboldened U.S. adversaries and probable contributed to the invasion of Ukraine by Russia and Hama terrorists into Israel.
8. We have a president whose wrong-headed and foolish foreign affairs decisions and policies have now cost the America public at least $100 Billion in aid to Ukraine to try to fend off the Russians, and another $100 Billion due to the outbreak of hostilities in the Middle East.
9. We have a president whose energy policies have cost the average U.S. family thousands of dollars a year due to unnecessarily higher gasoline and home heating costs.
10. We have a president whose exorbitant government spending policies are costing the average U.S. thousand MORE each year due to sparking off double digit inflation and eroding the value of their income.
11. We have a president who insists there is no increase in crime in the U.S. under his presidency and that there is no connection to the increase of crime and the “social criminal justice reforms made by those in his party.
12. We have a president whose various departments and agencies are doing all sorts of eye-raising things regarding undermining parents ability and rights concerning their children and their education, and speaking out at local school board meetings.
13. We have a president who seems (by various evidence) to have been getting payoffs of millions of dollars from foreign countries tied to the Hunter Biden and Biden family criminal enterprise.
14. We have a president who personally attacks anything and anyone as MAGA republicans and whose government agencies and departments seem to be doing the same thing.

Even if Zelensky were the most corrupt man in the world, a serial killer, and a child abuser we should still oppose the Russian invasion and the Russian war crimes and we should still aid Ukraine.
Why? Because this is not about Zelensky anymore than the war of Independence was about Washington and the Civil War was about Lincoln.
There is a clear right and wrong here, and the Russians are wrong. There is no moral equivalency between Putin and Zelensky, no matter how many shopping trips Zelensky’s wife makes to Paris. The Russians are the invaders, the destroyers, the rapists, the torturers, the occupiers.

I think, though, most people don’t really process how radical our country has become until they are personally negatively effected by how much our country has changed (more like backpedaled). For instance a friend of ours, who has a garage door installation business, filled up his truck with gas today, and was shocked by the $150+ cost. His reaction, after voting for democrats, was “Got to get those democrats out of office.” My husband and I were surprised by such an instant political turnaround.

English is only Jason’s fourth language so he can be forgiven for not understanding concepts. Being wrong means you once thought you were right. However, Jason is known for bold, unyielding, uncompromising declarations of certitude. For example, “Never” is an absolute and uncompromising word with only one meaning. Therefore, Never Trump! had only one possible meaning – that Jason would never vote for Trump. Fine. The fact that he changed his mind does not make him a bad person. It just means that his absolute pronouncements are not reliable.

“NeverTrump” was a movement during the 2016 election, and I indeed did not vote for him, nobody knew if Trump would win or would be on the ballot in the future. Claiming that because I adhered to “NeverTrump” in that campaign meant I would never vote for him in the future is a crock of crap.
Bitter should have taken the win where I admitted I was wrong about Trump’s fitness for office.
But just to make sure, I am “NeverHaley” for 2024. I will never vote for her even if she runs against the reincarnation of Joseph Stalin. But if she wins and proves me wrong like Trump did, I may vote for her in 2028.
