McCarthy started off with strong words of doing things different – legislating with single subject appropriation bills, creating a real budget instead of a string of CRs and an omnibus bill swollen with out-of-control spending. But, when it came down to his actions following those words he was a dud.  Now that he is gone, and saying he won’t come back as Speaker, there is at least an opportunity to change direction and actually address our spending and border issues.

I know decreasing, or shutting off Ukrainian monies entirely, is raising hackles among those who seem to be one-issue voters.  However, there are many more concerns and issues on this continent than just looking at Ukraine’s never-ending war totally funded by “others.” Speaking of “others,” it is mainly the US that has spent over $113 billion in comparison to the $30 billion contribution by everyone else.

Rightly or wrongly, Trump will be going into mid-summer and close to convention time losing 250 million on the BS “fraud” trial. He has no chance with that activist judge. None. Next, he has to skate the Florida trial on the documents. He has a fair venue but because of his stupidity he’s handed the Biden Justice Dept their strongest case. The Fulton County Georgia case is next and its a real banana republic hatchet job but the venue is Atlanta. Jury pool – he’s a dead duck there. So, to sum it up, he would go into the Republican Convention out on bail with two felony convictions. Republicans want to nominate Trump to run a GE campaign with all that tied around his neck? 112. I know JeffP, Tina, Janzam, Bunu and the rest of the Putin Stooges here are going to be very sad this is happening to their dear leader Pooty Poot, along with the evidence that our aid to Ukraine is indeed producing results.

“Russia has withdrawn the bulk of its Black Sea Fleet from its main base in occupied Crimea, a potent acknowledgment of how Ukrainian missile and drone strikes are challenging Moscow’s hold on the peninsula.

Russia has moved powerful vessels including three attack submarines and two frigates from Sevastopol to other ports in Russia and Crimea that offer better protection, according to Western officials and satellite images verified by naval experts. The Russian Defense Ministry didn’t respond to a request for comment.

The move represents a remarkable setback for Russian President Vladimir Putin, whose military seizure of Crimea in 2014 marked the opening shots in his attempt to take control of Ukraine. His full-scale invasion of last year has now boomeranged, forcing the removal of ships from a port that was first claimed by Russia in 1783 under Catherine the Great…

James Heappey, U.K. minister of state for the armed forces, called the dispersal of the ships “the functional defeat of the Black Sea Fleet” at a conference in Warsaw this week.”

  114. Observations and takeaways on the debacle of throwing out Speaker McCarthy:
    *************************************************************************
    1. All the House Dems (being bomb throwers themselves) sided with10 bomb-throwing Rs.

    2. Dems had the opportunity to do the right things and just vote ‘present’ to keep McCarthy in place. If just 10 or 11 Ds had voted “present”, We would have no “crisis”.
But we all know Dems. love a good “crisis”.

    3. McCarthy had given the green light to start impeachment inquiry and hearings related to Biden–which could have saved the Dems bacon in Nov. 2024 by maybe forcing Biden to say he won’t run again and Newsom and his VP candidate (Grenholm?) would head the ticket.

    4. House Dems/Socialists/Communists view all Rs the same and see McCarthy as a ‘MAGA Republican (to them all Rs are “MAGA republicans”. So if any R is smoking and on fire, no Dem will bring a bucket of water to put out the flames.

    5. All this drama in the House just grows the typical American’s distrust, dislike, distain, disappointment and disillusionment with American intuitions and government in general.

    6. If any party agrees to allow just one person, even in their own party, throw monkey wrenches and call for a vote to vacate the chair and bring government to a halt00then they are imbeciles. The “Rule” should be that any one person can call for vacating the chair, but they must present a petition with at least 20% of other congressmen of their won party for it to be considered and voted on. Additionally. all the members of the minority party should have no right to vote Yes or No, but can either choose not to vote or vote “present”.

    7. Ironically, the 10 Rs who voted to vacate the chair received MILLIONS from the McCarthy controlled pack to help them win and become members of the House.

    8. the Republican bomb throwers have no plan to govern and no way out of the mess they created.

    9. I think this moves forward the No Party movement. Sadly, the No party movement will probably not have candidates on the ballot in 2024 for the House or Senate.

    10. If there is no Speaker, there can be no budget bill, since it constitutionally has to originate in the House. Of course, we can always ignore the Constitution.

I know Trump has been excoriating RDS on the “disloyalty” displayed by running against him rather than waiting until 2028.  Curiosity caused me to look up RDS’s first governor run where his primary opponent was Adam Putnam.  Research showed Putnam had 30 endorsements, was a popular attractive, well-liked candidate considered a lock on winning the R primary.  It was only after Trump’s endorsement did percentages become favorable for RDS.  During the GE the same odds presented themselves, where Gillum was the frontrunner and DeSantis a long shot, until Trump threw multiple rallies on his behalf for him.  Maybe loyalty is a bigger issue than most thought it would be.  This includes how Floridians might see his attention turning immediately, after winning a 2nd term as governor, being shifted to running for President rather than focusing on his job in Florida.

28% of students K thru 12 have chronic absenteeism, defined as missing 10 or more days of school during the 180-day school year.

    Some students are missing 40, 50, 60, 70+ days a year.

Why do kids NOT want to go to school? (MY THOUGHTS)

    1. Violence in schools, including bullying (where nothing much is done to the bullies) and fear of a school shooting.

    2. They do not like to endure being indoctrinated into a belief system that they and their family do not agree.

    3. They must endure the teaching of new math, which is an insane main in the rump.

    4. They are not being challenged to learn–since everybody passes, no punishments for lack of effort, etc. and everyone gets passing participation grades even if they are not there.

    5. They are being taught and encouraged that it is ok to take steps to change the gender that they were born with

    6. Their teachers (many) do not care about the students or their own profession.

    7. White kids particularly get tired of being taught that white people are the cause of all the problems in society

    8. The earth is going to end soon because of the climate crisis anyway, so why bother to get educated.

    9. If the teachers are absent a lot, it does not set a good example.

    10. All the demands to be required to use new pronouns “him, her, it, they, cat, dog, meadow muffin, etc. are too confusing.

Well not quite the guy is a Bernie Sanders supporter and a Dem just like Amoral Scumbag. It must really suck to be that much of a human turd:

Joshua “Taco” Pleasnick arrived at the state Capitol shirtless, with a leashed dog and wearing a holstered handgun, around 2 p.m. Wednesday, according to information on the incident provided to lawmakers and obtained by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, part of the USA TODAY Network.

Pleasnick, 43, of Madison, approached the security desk outside Evers’ office and said he would not leave until he saw the governor, who was not in the building at the time, spokeswoman Tatyana Warrick told the Journal Sentinel. Police arrested Pleasnick on a charge of openly carrying a firearm inside the Capitol building, a violation of state law.

Pleasnick returned to the state Capitol hours later, at about 9 p.m., with a loaded assault rifle after posting bail. He demanded to see the governor again and was subsequently taken into custody.

Pleasnick allegedly wanted to speak to Evers about what he called the issue of “domestic abuse towards men.”
Not mentioned in early mainstream media reports on what went down and Pleasnick was more information on who he is. But NewsTalk 1130/WISN did some digging and found out that it appears Pleasnick does not fit the “right-wing wacko” narrative often pushed by The Usual Suspects including the media in the aftermath of these types of incidents:

The suspect who was arrested after bringing a handgun into the Wisconsin Capitol Wednesday afternoon and demanding to see Governor Evers, then returning that night with a rifle after posting bail, is a well-known chef at a Madison distillery and an apparent liberal who made multiple donations to Bernie Sanders.

    […]

Pleasnick is a well-known chef who has been profiled by The Wisconsin State Journal and twice by Madison Magazine, most recently in 2019. According to Federal Election Commission records, he donated small amounts of money to Democratic Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaigns in both 2016 and 2020.”

… according to Pratts account, Trump shared the information while “leaning” toward him as if to be discreet – telling the Australian two critical pieces of info about U.S. subs: the supposed exact number of nuclear warheads they routinely carry, and exactly how close they supposedly can get to a Russian submarine without being detected.

    – Trump was not president when he did this because he lost the 2020 election fair and square so he had no authority to declassify this kind of information. I know classified documents expert for Gateway Pundit Tina says otherwise, but she’s wrong.

Despite what Bitter may think, this is a big deal and not BS. America’s dumbest and most crooked president gave away sensitive, secret information on how the US tracks Russian subs and that information has almost certainly now made it back to Russia.

So in reality, Trump and the Republicans, who unceasingly support him, are helping Putin.

He failed on immigration, failed to build the wall, failed in spending, failed in addressing health care, failed in addressing the obvious corruption in the FBI and DOJ, failed in Covid policy, failed in releasing more criminals, failed during the BLM rioting, all of these failures contributed to where we stand today as a country. Recently he compromised on gender and abortion. With each one of these issues RDS demonstrated leadership at a state level and was successful. Passing temporary Paul Ryan tax and with the help of McConnell and the Federalist Society he appointed a lot of judges. Without either Ryan or McConnell neither would not have happened.

  196. Lansing — The Michigan Republican Party had about $35,000 in its bank accounts in August, according to internal records that flash new warning signs about the dire state of the GOP’s finances and raise questions about whether the organization is complying with campaign finance laws.

The documents, obtained by The Detroit News, cover from February when party Chairwoman Kristina Karamo took office through Aug. 10, about six weeks before the party’s Mackinac Republican Leadership Conference and about five months into Karamo’s term.

The party has regularly transferred money from an account that’s usually focused on federal elections to other accounts to afford expenses, according to the records. And earlier this year, Karamo’s 2022 secretary of state campaign loaned the party’s federal account $15,000 after that account’s balance turned negative. The transaction wasn’t reported in disclosures from the campaign or the party’s federal committee.

A listing of Michigan Republican Party account balances from West Michigan Community Bank showed $35,051 across seven accounts, with expenses for many of the scheduled speakers at the Sept. 22-24 conference on Mackinac Island not yet paid, including author Dinesh D’Souza and unsuccessful former Arizona candidate for governor Kari Lake.

At this point, 13 months before a presidential election, the Michigan Republican Party should have about $10 million in its accounts, said Tom Leonard, a former Michigan House speaker and former finance chairman for the state GOP.

Lot of folks are shockingly optimistic that an electoral defeat will inject sanity in the GOP.

It’s just as likely that it goes into the death spiral of feeding off the even more lunatic outrage bait, self-marginalizing ever more. We’ve seen that process in plenty state part.

    – Sadly, this is what’s likely to happen. A loss will make the grifters and the lunatics even angrier and more convinced their path is the correct one. Jason fraud and the other election deniers will simply claim the 2024 election was stolen and they’ll spend the next few years trying to purge the winners and those who want to win. Conspiracy is now the uniting theme of the party. That’s why Gateway Pundit has become so important to Tina.

What the lunatics want is to make the national Republican Party look like the Arizona Republican Party. In other words, a rump operation that specializes in performance art and grievance. Chemtrail Kelli Ward is the patron saint of the movement. Winning is a sideshow to those who are ascendent in the Republican Party. In fact, for the Trumpists and the populists, winning means compromise. Losing means purity. The clown car brigade will always choose purity because purity gets them losing and losing gets them clicks and earns them money.

Candace Owens and Charlie Kirk, two unbelievably crooked and ignorant people, have already figured the grievance model and they’re both likely to be big influencers in the party after Trump and the gang lose again in 2024.

In other words, get in losers, we’re going losing.

  207. Yesterday Amoral Scumbag was breathlessly parroting MSM talking points about Trump “giving away secrets” BS.

As usual, like the “MAGA guy who invaded the Wisconsin capitol” (his other smear on Trump supporters yesterday) who turned out to be a Bernie Bot, this story on “nuclear secrets” is BS too.

“Sources that appear to be within special counsel Jack Smith’s office claimed that the conversation started when paper packaging magnate Anthony Pratt told Trump in a Mar-a-Lago conversation that he thought Australia should buy nuclear submarines from the United States (related Australia to Buy U.S. Nuclear-Powered Submarines in Deal to Counter China).

According to Pratt’s account, as described by the sources, Pratt told Trump he believed Australia should start buying its submarines from the United States, to which an excited Trump — “leaning” toward Pratt as if to be discreet — then told Pratt two pieces of information about U.S. submarines: the supposed exact number of nuclear warheads they routinely carry, and exactly how close they supposedly can get to a Russian submarine without being detected.

In emails and conversations after meeting with Trump, Pratt described Trump’s remarks to at least 45 others, including six journalists, 11 of his company’s employees, 10 Australian officials, and three former Australian prime ministers, the sources told ABC News.

While Pratt told investigators he couldn’t tell if what Trump said about U.S. submarines was real or just bluster, investigators nevertheless asked Pratt not to repeat the numbers that Trump allegedly told him, suggesting the information could be too sensitive to relay further, ABC News was told.

There are a lot of problems with this story.

The information obviously came out of Jack Smith’s office. Given how his investigation has been run, one must assume the leak was authorized. There is no evidence, which Pratt admits, that what Trump said was classified or even true. All the evidence indicates that Pratt didn’t think so because he told a lot of people about the conversation. If he’d thought the information was classified, he probably would’ve kept it to himself.

Smith is tying this case to the prosecution of Trump for storing classified documents at Mar-a-Lago. Unless there is a document in that trove that holds this information, it is hard to see what it has to do with anything. Pratt, apparently, has been called as a witness, but unless the government is willing to have him relate this allegedly classified information in court and the government agrees that it is classified, it is an interesting anecdote and nothing else.”

And of course, the Russians certainly know how many warheads a US nuclear sub carries….zzzzzzzz….Trump was obviously trying to sell the Australians on buying US subs… nothing wrong with that. And this “anecdote” for obvious reasons is not even part of the bogus charges.

Though I was THRILLED that Hillary was denied the White House, I felt sure that Trump lacked the requite qualities to work with others (like Reagan did) to actually solve problems and be a uniter (like Reagan was). Events and facts have proved me right in my analysis in 2016.
I readily admit that Trump did have some big accomplishments. Sadly, he did/does not have the demeanor and personal qualities and attributes to build on those successes.

Ever since Trump’s inauguration day, there has been a segment of people in America who loathed the man. A big part of that was that he defeated Hillary and temporarily thwarted the left agenda. Since he was officially an “R” then all Rs became targets of the left. They worked feverishly to try to block–by ANY means legal, illegal, fair or foul– any and every effort by Trump to make things better. Remember the bald-faced lies said by anti-Trump witnesses during the SCOTUS nominations? Remember the BLM riots? Remember the anti-Trump violence in DC on inauguration day?

    Yes, there is a TDS.

Yes there is a “Washington DC establishment” [swamp] who felt they (and their wrong-headed agenda) were threatened by Trump.

They loathe and oppose anything he is for. They loathe and oppose anything that Trump did accomplish–be they tax cuts, supreme court appointments, reducing illegals on the southern border, etc.. From day 1, Biden undertook a policy to undo EVERYTHING Trump did accomplish. It was like the Left wanted to erase the memory that there ever was a President Trump. Biden and his press secretary and other officials are even loathe to mention Trump’s name. They just say “under the previous administration…”, or “what President Biden’s predecessor…” You see it again and again on the news and in congressional hearings.

Ironically, everything the left has done has played in to enhance the support for Trump and in showing “Trump weas right”.

A conviction on any of these bogus charges will just increase sympathy for him because people understand he has been a victim of partisan witch hunts from Day 1 in his presidency. People in general are fair minded, IMO everyone who is an independent, conservative, libertarian or Republican should rebel against what is being done to Trump by rogue and partisan prosecutors. Unfortunately, we live in such a polarized environment, that even people who would normally view these proceedings as what they really are, politicization and weaponization of the legal system, are willing to sell out their principles in order to extract revenge against an individual they disagree with politically. “Getting Trump” may or may not achieve that objective, but it will surely have lasting negative impact on how people view the legal system. Even if most or all these possible convictions will be later reversed and thrown out, as I strongly suspect they will be, the damage will be done.

  239. Retllaw – that was a thoughtful, well-written post. I agree with much but not all of it.

Trump has been an outlier from the very beginning. He is rich but appeals to a blue collar working class base that is ethnically diverse. He entered the world of politics, unpolished and unschooled in the protocols, practices and people to rely on in the grouping of DC heavyweights, not owing any debts to lobbyists, donors or establishment/elite leaders. Because of his unusual background and personal characteristics Trump did not fit into the “good old boys club,” and instead seemed determined to ruffle feathers rather than caress them. However, like the adage,”for every act there is an equal reaction,” the left and tribal old class republicans have retaliated against Trump, executing their wrath in spades throughout his time on the public stage.

Even Reagan was mocked and hated while he was in office, mainly because of all the changes he made that went against the grain of liberal orthodoxy. Maybe this is why Trump idolized the man, and in a way mirrored how he navigated his own presidency, sans the twinkle in the eye, and instead replaced by humorous/ mean tweets. Nonetheless, like I see Reagan as the right man for the ‘80’s, I also see Trump as the man with enough stamina and stones to weather all the discord going on now. In fact, the left seeing Trump as the “worse thing since sliced bread”may be the bad tasting elixir needed to thwart the transformation that Obama/Hillary/Biden/establishment republicans have sought to install in this country throughout the 21st century.

I think there is a big problem, but unlike most conservatives, I don’t view immigrants as the enemy or evil. And yes, many conservatives who have FoxNews brain rot do feel that way about immigrants. Several post here.

I support barriers/walls where appropriate; I support increased patrols along areas where crossings are high; and I support drones and other electronic surveillance. I also support stronger anti-drug interdictions in Mexico. Not the moronic cruise missile attacks conman Donnie wanted, though. In other words, I support a wide range of tactics.

However, none of these tactics solve the root problem of why these people want to come here. They come here for a better life because their home countries are awful. We should focus as much on financial and technical aid to the Latin American countries in an effort to improve their economies. In the long run, that would be far cheaper for the US.

Of course, that won’t fly with “muh conservatives” who just want to see the world burn. For instance, Mike Davis, a genuinely stupid former clerk for Alito and an insufferable Trump worshipper, just last week went on Newsmax and said in the Trump second term they’re going to bring back family separation and put kids in cages and he said, “it’s going to be glorious”. BS. If there is one thing Trump is consistent on, is that he tries to deliver what he promises.

His administration was extraordinarily successful in providing low unemployment, including record Black and Hispanic unemployment, low interest rates, strong economic growth, low taxes, record levels for the DOW and other indicators such as home ownership, low gas prices, etc. All these thing help “the little guy”.

In addition he was able to get a lot of conservative judges on the Federal bench and 3 conservative justices on SCOTUS, monumental achievements. He achieved energy independence, made advances in deregulation, invested in the military and had some success in stemming illegal immigration. He correctly identified the MSM as “enemy of the people” and is war against their power was needed if not victorious.

To deny Trump these achievements is stupid, because the people who support him know it is true.

There is plenty to be critical of, but to be honest most of his base don’t hold it against him that he is a shortsighted self defeating protectionist and isolationist with little understanding of role the US plays in the world and how our well being is tied to it. His a geopolitical ignoramus. His tendency to prefer ass kissing over competency cost him dearly. He is not a doctrinaire conservative, merely a political opportunist, and he is a big spending crony capitalist who actually does believe you can just print money as needed. He is a narcissist and a blowhard and lacks self control and the ability to see the big picture.

I didn’t trade in my values and beliefs for a stupid red hat. I’m the same Republican I’ve always been since 1996 when I first started voting. I vote for Republicans, just not the awful ones like Trump. And unlike you, I have no problem critiquing and criticizing Republicans who run mediocre or crappy campaigns. Just this past June, you got pissy when I pointed out that Daniel Cameron is running a woefully uninspired campaign in KY. Well, a poll out this week shows him losing to Beshear 48-42.

‘Course of their life” is one thing. Trump was still donating to Chuck Schumer as late as 2010, 5 years before he ran for President. He contributed to Harry Reid against Sharron Angle also in 2010. He gave to John Kerry in 2004, only 3 cycles before he ran himself.

Trump contributed to Schumer, Read, Hillary, Gillibrand, Ted Kennedy, Charlie Rangel, Tom Daschle, Frank Lautenberg.

But when you live in a conservative media ecosystem, I guess the outside world and how it acts seems strange.

As for my values and beliefs, they are the same as they have always been and I sleep well at night knowing don’t bend to the moment. I hold rogue politicians and frauds accountable as best I can. Either by calling them out or not voting for them. Once upon a time, you were willing to criticize bad Republicans, but now you just make excuses for them and blame everything on the media or some other boogeyman that conservative media invents.

And you’re right, I did say I don’t care about the border in the way I do other topics. Deal with it. I’m not going to be a militant on a topic that doesn’t motivate me just as you’re not going to be a militant on holding candidates of your own party accountable for their bad behavior. If you’re worried about the border, maybe you ought to work to get the party you support to nominate a candidate who can actually win and make a difference there.

And finally, I know you have zero effective arguments when the best you have to offer is that I’m a Democrat troll because I don’t support the man who destroyed the Republican Party. You used to be better than that, but I guess years of consuming hard right conservative media, and then falling for Baris’ crap, has had an impact.
