Once that is done Biden can make the announcement that he isn’t running again, Newsome will accept a draft as the Democratic nominee. At that point it’s a convicted felon vs Newsome who is not burdened by Biden’s record or age or cognitive issues. The election becomes all about Trump. Perfect Democratic dream. Newsome wins comfortably with 52 or 53% of the vote and carries Democrats to control of the House. At that point Democrats can proceed toward their goal of turning America into California unhindered by opposition. They can do anything they want.

Congress is doing a last ditch effort to not deal with budgetary concerns, and instead try to pass a “clean CR” to keep our slowly insolvent government afloat at noon today. It appears McCarthy might work with the Dems to secure the two-thirds votes needed in the House. If passed this will lead to another fiscally onerous omnibus, waiting in the wings, to be passed later on. Of course there will be all kinds of funding included, like Ukraine monies, that we will be borrowing to blindly give as extended aid as we ignore the needs and signals of “no more aid” from our own people.

Trump was in CA yesterday speaking to the CA GOP at around noon. According to JeffP the prime time evening spot was taken by RDS, which was interpreted by him as some kind of downgrade. However, the video of the event described a different take on the receptivity shown the candidate speaking at noon vs later times. At noon the event was enthusiastically packed with DJT supporters, as were the streets leading to the hotel where this venue was held. Later he went to an ice cream store (also lined with supporters) on his way to a Beverly Hills fundraiser. Even his plane, flying low over the CA beaches, received all kinds of supportive screams on the beaches below. One thing for sure is that he knows how to reach the people and market himself in an appealing way.

Conservatives got the whole of the House GOP to agree to cut the government by 8% as their opening negotiation with the Senate, but Matt Gaetz decided his grudge against Speaker McCarthy was more important. So he helped scuttle cuts, and now the government is going to grow.

Here’s the dirty little secret. None of the people who most vociferously claim to care about conservative values and principles care about them at all. They know you do and they just use you and your donations to fund their lifestyles.
Gaetz and the rest are the real RINOs. They’re the ones who work against the conservative cause because they know anger and outrage make them relevant. That’s why Gaetz tried to work with Democrats to oust McCarthy. That’s the literal definition of RINO: a person who claims to be Republican, but works with Democrats at the expense of the party.

Bowman’s very possibly going to end up with criminal charges for trying to delay a vote that ended up passing with 209 Democrats voting yes, seems like a less than ideal tradeoff.
– What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Bowman intentionally obstructed an official proceeding and should be prosecuted for it. If you or I had done this and been caught on camera, we’d already be in jail.
Additionally, Congress should, at a minimum, censure him. It would be wise for Republicans to do this immediately and force Democrats to decide whether they think behavior like this is acceptable. If Democrats hold to their position on Trump, they’ll vote for censure. For once, it would be a politically smart move by McCarthy and Democrats might be interested in throwing one of the squad overboard.
I think expulsion is worth consideration, but it’s highly unlikely since a two thirds majority would be needed. Additionally, those who have been expelled from the House either supported the Confederacy or bribery and/or racketeering in the case of Traficant. I’m not sure this act, as stupid and criminal as it was, reaches that level.
