Bitter, I can’t articulate my position any better than I have in recent posts made. I have never said anything positive or complimentary about Putin, and yet Putin supporter is all you label me. My concerns have consistently been around our own squandered and mismanaged budget, especially in lieu of how our own middle and working classes are going broke, even homeless. If we can’t take care of our own, and instead give resources to a country known for it’s corruption, I find that is an asinine way to govern.
Jan- Our border is not secure for one reason. Joe Biden does not want it be secure. That would not change even if Russia had never invaded Ukraine. Why can’t you see that the 2 issues have nothing to do with each other. Do you honestly believe that Biden and the Democrats would be spending the money that is providing military aid to Ukraine would instead be spent on helping Americans? It would not be. You refuse to see it because of your hatred for Zelensky, a man who did not invite the invasion of his country no matter how many isolationist nonsense links you post.

However, with this understanding, there has been little oversight as to its distribution. Furthermore, the reports of Ukrainian success have been mixed, with some reports boosting great victories, while others describe a stalemate with the territory taken back fitting between 2 Burma Shave signs, plus a reluctance of youth willing to serve and fight, etc. Consequently, what is really being accomplished in this war except to pacify Zelensky’s zeal to win, keeping Putin’s military dug in until winter arrives, and quelling the rumor of Putin’s imperialistic motives towards more land grabs should he prevail?

Gavin Newsom has the best take on the NeverTrumper debate
Gavin Newsom of all people had the best take on tonight’s debate:
“I think it will be clear that Trump comes out the dominant force. This is the XFL, JV, MAYBE a Vice presidential debate at best” pic.twitter.com/pAeKY9dV6k
I looked deeper into the recent CBS Iowa and NH polls. Trump ONLY has 20-23% of these polled are totally committed only to him. Trump is making a mistake by not debating. RDS did the best last night in challenging Trump to debate with the rest of the challengers and then challenged him one on one after. He hit Trump on his “terrible” pro life comments and 7.8 trillion impacting our economy. Used both issues as to why he should defend himself and debate with the others.
Faux news was terrible last night. They are so out of touch. RDS knocked it out of park at the end refusing to participate in the stupid “Survivor” game.
Conservatives who hate Fox News are mad because it is not propaganda for the Right the same way as MSNBC is propaganda for the Left. They want their own agenda-driven news site. Yeah. I said it.
The talk radio talking heads are unanimous that Trump is doing the right thing in not debating.
“You don’t debate when you are 50 points ahead”
“Debates are for the JV”
“Trump gets more attention by NOT being there”
etc.
I am not so sure. If there is one thing that keeps Trump ahead among R parties, the one thing that unites the R voters around Trump, is that he is a fighter. The reason he is up by 40 points is that his supporters believe he will fight for them. When you don’t go to the debate, you are somewhat giving up on your “fighter” image.
FWIW
“New data, from a CBS News/YouGov survey published Tuesday, show that 79 percent of Iowa Republican caucus voters are either considering candidates other than Trump or have outright ruled out supporting the former president. Just 20 percent said they are only considering Trump.
In New Hampshire, 77 percent of Republicans said they’re looking at candidates besides Trump.”
Best line of the debate (ok, ok, it was the only one I read, GFYs)
DESANTIS: Second of all, that was written by descendants of slaves. These are great black history scholars so we need to stop playing these games. Here’s the deal. Our country’s education system is in decline because it’s focused on indoctrination, denying parents’ rights. Florida represents the revival of American education. We’re ranked #1 in the nation in education by US News and World Report. My wife and I have a six, three, and five-year-old.
This is personal for us. We didn’t just talk about universal school choice. We enacted universal school choice. We didn’t just talk about the Parents’ Bill of Rights. We enacted the Parents’ Bill of Rights. We eliminated Critical Race Theory, and now we have American civics and the constitution in our schools in a really big way just like President Reagan asked for in his farewell address back in 1989. Florida is showing how it’s done. We’re standing with parents, and our kids are benefiting.”
Nuissance just slammed Rds. I hate Nuissance but his 2 minute sound bite is effective. I don’t know what Rds is doing. I continue to blame his team. Another underperforming debate
I think Hunter spent half his millions on crack, booze and hookers.
The rest he just frittered away.
“But I can’t pay alimony w/o Dad or tuitions or for food and gas. Really it’s all gone,” Hunter Biden texted James Biden, the president’s brother. “I can go make it up in 15/20 days I’m sure, but he’s basically made it clear that he’s not paying alimony b/c Mom made clear that she won’t do it.”
Trump “They (RNC) have to stop the debates. Because it is just bad for the Republican Party. They are not going anywhere. There is not going to be a breakout candidate,”
Says the man who has only 20-23% voters committed to him in the last CBS poll in Iowa and NH.
He knows he is trouble.
RDS this morning… “He’s had a lot to say about me on social media…It’s one thing to do it behind a keyboard. Step up on stage and do it to my face.”
He knows Trumps support is soft.
That 20-23% committed Trump number is about 10% lower than last month.
I didn’t watch the debate. However, from various commentaries I’ve read, plus the opinion of a friend who did watch 75% of it, the comment below best sums it up:
Tony Katz
@tonykatz
First person to walk off the debate stage and curse Ronna McDaniel for this failure wins the debate.
I personally don’t know how Trump is going to fare in his run for a 2nd term. Will he be able to secure the nomination? And, if he does, will he crash and burn, in a Thelma/Louise fashion as predicted by Phil? Importantly, how will all the faux indictments ultimately affect the success or failure of his seeking to be in the WH again?
However, unlike some here who think Trump is toast and RDS is on the rise, I see no indication of that being the case, thus far, as RDS still seems to be sinking in both polling and donor confidence, and Trump continues to draw large, enthusiastic crowds wherever he goes and speaks. Time, though, will tell who drops out of the Republican field of candidates, and if Trump will be able to weather all the obstructions laid in his path. My vote, though, still remains with Trump. If he becomes a goner, I may not even vote for another candidate (1st time in my life), as I remain unimpressed by what seems to be 2nd tier contenders who will only rinse and wash the same policies driving us over the cliff today.
Politico (labeled a left wing rag by some) had a lengthy review of last night’s debate. Scott and Haley seemed to grab most of the kudos. RDS only received praise from a Joe Biden tweet – not necessarily a good endorsement.
Generally, though, it was felt nothing was said or done to help this motley crew of candidates.
”But if neither jab was likely to put a scratch on the frontrunner, what they did reveal was something more significant: the tacit recognition by Trump’s rivals that his absence from the debate stage is damaging them, relegating their primary debates to a series of confrontations at the “kiddie table”
Trumps support is growing softer by the week. The top line number in polls is meaningless at this point. RDS clearly was the boss last night and it’s a two man race now. His positives are growing. He won every debate group last night on cable news. One on one and Trump losses.
Jan and Tina base most of their positivity regarding Trump from his X grifting sycophants. He actually has paid for bots on X. The Bikini babe bots are my favorites. Trumps campaign is smoke and mirrors as exemplified by the failed UAW rally last night where the crowd was a bunch of non union Trump supporters holding union signs. It was all in the Detroit newspapers today.
Trump wants the debates to end. What a loser. Why he needs the money for all his legal fees. He is cash poor. He might have to file for bankruptcy with losing his business and property values in the NY fraud case.
Jan is so committed to Trump that she will not vote if Trump is not the nominee. Tgca must be so proud of her. If Trump made a speech and said, “Jan, I am it as great as you think I am,” she would still think he is great.
As the Daily Mail noted the second of the first loser debates showed exactly why Donald Trump is leading the field by 50 points. President Trump was in Michigan giving an “America-First” voice to the forgotten middle-class, while the professionally republican were stacked up in California talking about who supports Ukraine best. What an absolute sh*t show”
The most colorful review yet, from The Daily Mail:
It was like watching seven kamikaze pilots on a two-hour political suicide mission.
Could Reagan’s Air Force One – suspended over the candidates of the second Republican debate, held at the former commander-in-chief’s Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California – have been a better metaphor?
An 88,000-pound fuselage, a storied aircraft that carried the kind of Republican president the party wishes would alight, just hanging there. The threat of falling, crashing, taking out everyone with it — the only survivor Donald Trump.
You have a short memory,Bitter…or is it simply mind-fog to forget the 1.4% inflation rate, low gas prices, energy independence, most controlled border ever (in the words of border patrol agents), no invasions or wars, VA improvements etc. that greeted Biden in 1/20/2021?
SCOOP/NEWS: Push for Youngkin 2024 now taking shape as donors and Rs grow alarmed. “Red Vest Retreat” Oct. 17-18 in VA Beach… Billionaire backer Peterffy assures me “money would be there.” Bill Barr telling him to put his “oar in.”
– I’d love to see Youngkin run. Period. End of story. He’d beat Biden like a drum in a general election. He’s not a lunatic; he’s not a jerk; he’d perform extremely well in the suburbs; and he would be able to raise massive sums of money. Maybe most importantly, he’d provide a major “turn the page” vibe against an old man like Biden.
However, I’m not sure there’s much of a reason for him to consider the race if he’s going to run the same kind of campaign DeSantis, Haley, and the others have. To beat Trump, Youngkin (or any of the others) would have to be willing to go right at Trump and campaign against him by name. Yes, that means running negative ads against Trump (they always work).
I’ve seen nothing that suggests Youngkin would be willing to run the kind of tough, aggressive campaign against Trump it would take. Alas, this is a hypothetical discussion since Youngkin isn’t going to run. I suspect he thinks he can wait until 2028, but conman Donnie will run again then as well.
Youngkin isn’t running he has said that multiple times. No candidate is going to beat Trump unless it comes down to a binary choice, Younkin running would only make that more difficult. This Costa scoop is BS. DeSantis is the establishment nightmare and the treatment he is getting from the right people show that to be true. He has won every focus group for both debates. His approval ratings are the highest in the field.
Donald Trump’s speech to Michigan autoworkers on Wednesday was viewed by fewer than half as many people as the second Republican presidential debate on Rumble, a video streaming platform launched as an alternative to YouTube and popular with many right-leaning content providers. The two events took place simultaneously, with the GOP frontrunner opting to skip an official debate for the second time.
In total the debate, broadcast by the Republican Party, received 1.25 million views on Rumble versus 522,000 for Trump speech, which was shared on his official channel.
“DeSantis is the only candidate who had a majority rate him positively for his performance in the second debate.”
“One thing that did not seem to compete for attention from Republican primary voters? The speech former president Donald Trump gave in Michigan. The poll found 13 percent watched his speech versus 32 percent who watched the debate.”
washingtonpost.com/politics/2023/…
This debate poll and it’s internals and the CBS poll (20/23% committed Trump vote) demonstrate the points I am making. Trumps support is soft, RDS is the only competitive candidate against him it’s a two man race and RDS will continue to campaign more against Trump and Biden.
Youngkin would indeed beat Biden like a drum in a GE. That matchup would be like the Democrats’ worst nightmare. Youngkin already has proved what he can do in the suburbs plus he was able to actual outperform what Trump did in the Va. rural counties.
Unfortunately, that scenario won’t happen. Youngkin would have to get the nomination and the party of stupid is determined to nominate Trump, perhaps from his prison cell. Anyone doubt Trump won’t be convicted in DC or Atlanta? Jury pools folks. It is as simple as that….and a convicted felon isn’t going to be elected President of the United State regardless how bogus the convictions. You are lying to yourselves if you think he could still win. Also, as I’ve stated before Biden won’t be on the ballot either. Age, dementia, corruption charges, and 38-40% approval makes his re-election most unlikely and very iffy at best. Think Democrats are going to take the chance of Biden falling on his ass for the next 13 months – especially with unlikeable Kamala as his backup. Think they expect his cognitive state to get anything but worse over the coming months? Think they are going to take a chance with that kind of candidate?
Nope, once it is clear that Trump has a majority of delegates locked up, and that he has the nomination in hand, Democrats will draft Newsome. Biden will be trap doored whether he likes it or not. It’s already in motion.
President Newsome, baby…..but hey, think of the message Republicans will send nominating Trump anyway. It will be awesome.
At last night’s Phillies game, a fan was denied access with his emotional support animal. The problem was it is a small alligator. Will the Phillies suffer a 100 year curse for not allowing WallyGator in to the game?
People were wondering how many people were tuned into the Fox Business RNC debate, the second GOP primary debate without Donald Trump. The answers are in per an NBC review of Nielsen ratings.
Approximately 9.3 million people tuned in to watch the debate on Fox, Fox Business and Univision. That’s a drop of 27% from the first debate which had 12.8 million viewers.
He had to spend all that money during covid or he would have lost by more votes in the popular, and if things were worse maybe the bernie bros would have seized power instead if just demented joe.
As it stands he dumped all the inflation on Biden which worked out well (and biden made it worse)
If Youngkin is truly a NeverTrumper like Desantis it would be good if he got into the race so we can get rid of him now rather than have to deal w a stealth neverTrumper down the road.
Biden will never secure the US border. Money spent on military aide to Ukraine was never going to be spent on securing the US border. Both can be true.
Jan know this but keeps repeating her talking point.
Tina – Did Zelensky steal your lunch money? Why such contempt for a man trying to save his country? Was Ben Franklin a tin cup grifter when he begged France and Spain for money and military aide during the Revolution?
Zelensky is an admirable man fighting to save his country against a much larger and well equipped invader headed by a despot ex-KGB thug. He is a wealthy successful man way before he became President in an overwhelming landslide and he didn’t run away when he could to live a life of luxury. Instead he is out there risking assassination every day.
Calling him a “grifter” is shameful.
Ukraine deserves our support. It is in our interest to support Ukraine. And we are lucky to have Zelensky leading Ukraine in his fight against Russia’s expansionist dreams.
More evidence Biden wants to protect Ukraine borders but not US borders.”
Both are in our interest. Biden should do both.
But cutting aid to Ukraine and letting Putin prevail won’t protect US borders, the idea that one has anything to do with the other is asinine.
The southern border is open not because of aid to Ukraine, but because that is the policy of the party in power.
But of course the Putin sycophants know that, it is just a borrowed talking point from Russia propaganda their brainwashed minds are attracted to like flies to horsecrap.
True, no link between billions for Ukraine and money to protect our border. Our border will remain open regardless. Democrats have made the calculation that an inflow of millions flooding into the US means millions of future Democratic voters. That means one party rule as far as the eye can see. One party rule or to put it another way, California on a national scale. Democrats in power as far as the eye can see. It’s a means to an end – namely, import voters in order to remain in power in order to remake America. It’s pretty simple. Not rocket science.
She was not a bad mayor actually, compared to the sheot in office now. Failed to close the bath houses but actually kept the streets safe. You did not have riff raff.
Yes Phil, DJT was far from a “perfect” president, and now all people talk about all those appointments that proved to be bad, rather than the policies and legislation that positively surpassed most past presidents’ achievements.
Nancy Mace, congresswoman from a purple district in SC, is becoming one of the most sensible members of the House, articulating how opinions change as circumstances change. She voted “no” on carving out yet another proposal of cash earmarked for Ukraine, explaining that the lack of auditing where the funding is going, or even how much of the monies already sent remain. Her constituency, once in favor of sending support over to Ukraine has done a 180, as people’s own financial lives worsen, with inflation being adjusted upward, defaults increasing, consumer spending adjusted downward – IOW, more and more people are saying “enough already!” This has nothing to do with Russian propaganda or talking points (like some here love to inaccurately chide others with), but rather about how dire personal monetary conditions and an overrun border are increasingly effecting the common citizen here in the U.S.
Zzzzzzzzzz Again, not $1 dollar sent to Ukraine would have been spent here to help hard-working Americans or secure the border. If no money had ever been spent on helping Ukraine fight back against Putin’s invasion, our lives would have been exactly the same and Biden would still suck.
Again, I agree that no Ukranian money would go to secure the border. Democrats have made the calculation that doing nothing about securing the border is in their long-term interest. That interest is maintaining and securing power for as far as the eye can see by letting in millions of what they believe will be future Democratic voters. One party rule is their ultimate goal – sort of a California on a national scale. At that point nothing will stand in the way of their remaking of America, It will be clear sailing.
Poor Meatball is traumatized. Send her $$ and let the looting continue. The Philly DA is about to get tough on the looters. Just kidding. Free phone for everyone!
They’ve been refusing to let her retire because Newsom promised to appoint a black senator, but now that the primary is underway he dislikes the black candidates and wants Schiff to be the nominee. Hence if he nominates the black lady she will be the incumbent. Because of this, they have refused to let Feinstein retire until she literally died.
Don’t worry Bitter, Ukraine will ultimately get more money, aid, pension/small business and bureaucrat funding, not because the majority of American people are for it, but because Biden, the Dems and establishment republicans and RINOs demand indefinite aid be funneled there rather than here.
RDS gifted Biden with a talking point during the recent Republican debate, by blaming inflation on Trump (even though it was only 1.4% at the close of his term) leaving Biden to coast on his awful economic record. DeSantis is now aiding and abetting Newsom’s advance on becoming POTUS, by granting him a one-on-one debate opportunity which will only serve to enhance Newsom’s image, as he will surely win that debate in the eyes of the viewing audience.

It’s a means to an end – namely, import voters in order to remain in power in order to remake America. It’s pretty simple. Not rocket science.

Again, I agree that no Ukranian money would go to secure the border. Democrats have made the calculation that doing nothing about securing the border is in their long-term interest. One party rule is their ultimate goal – sort of a California on a national scale. At that point nothing will stand in the way of their remaking of America, It will be clear sailing.
