  5. Great article tearing the “Never Trump” scumbags a new a-hole and describing exactly who they are and what their real motives are. Their motives have nothing to do with Trump, nothing to do with “rule of law” but 100% on how to get praised and hired and quoted by the far left MSM that in reality loathes them like everyone else should. None of these people are morally superior to Trump, not one. They have all sold out their conservative principles, if they ever had any, to the highest bidder, the MSM.

“In the post-Trump era, a peculiar breed of establishment Republican politician has emerged out of the ruins that the 45th president made of the Bush-era neocon party: the so-called “Never Trumper,” a moniker used to describe politicians allegedly of a moral core too strong to abide Trump, with principles too lofty as to be violable by the filthy MAGA rabble.

The establishment, of course, celebrates these people as if they are divine beings descended from the heavens astride white horses.

You know who they are because they have made (in some cases resurrected) their careers posturing in this vein: Liz Cheney, Chris Christie, Mitt Romney, et al.

Cheney, daughter of (once upon a time) nearly universally reviled neocon Dick Cheney, led the Trump impeachment inquiry and in return rose like a phoenix to become an MSNBC Slay Queen celebrity overnight.

Here is Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) singing her praises, lauding her as “courageous” and “patriotic” for her efforts.

Ultra-progressive Social Justice™ rag Mother Jones offered a similar endorsement in an article titled simply “Hero: Liz Cheney”:

This is a common talking point of the corporate state media and leftist media regarding people like Cheney and their alleged braveness and stunningness: they sacrificed so much to save Democracy™!

Related: Chris Christie Claims He Made a ‘Great Sacrifice’ to Become a Career Politician

Never mind that most of the “Never Trumpers” were once his most submissive, deferential servants on the campaign trail, dutifully standing behind him on stage and taking orders like good boys and girls when it served them politically (in their own estimations) to do so. All of a sudden, though, they find their moral centers at the age of 50-something or, in the case of Romney, 70-something.

The most salient point is that none of these heel-turns were made out of any kind of sincere commitment to principle, rule of law, or Democracy™. Politicians don’t have principles as a general rule, and the ones who do tend not to make it on CNN for fawning interviews. These were cynical career moves to rebrand themselves as the honorable opposition to fascism or whatever in service of the Deep State.

All of the power centers that run the U.S. state oppose Trump. Remaining in solidarity with him would be the dangerous, risky, self-sacrificial long-term career move for Washington insiders — not denouncing him.

All of these “Never Trumpers” will be richly rewarded following their “public service” with lucrative cable news channel contributor contracts, neoliberal think tank appointments at the Cato Institute, and board positions on Walmart, Raytheon, the unending adoration by their peers at Beltway cocktail parties, etc. These are craven creatures of the Swamp who deserve nothing but derision and mockery — not praise.”

I don’t think those attacking Trump for his real and perceived personal and political shortcomings understand what is leading to his current overwhelming support: Americans know that, had he remained in the White House, America would be in a better, safer place. They’re also increasingly ready to believe that, one way or another, he was cheated out of his rightful second term.

A brief history of Trump’s claims of rigged voting:

Trump loved the show Amazing Race. When it didn’t win an Emmy, he said the Emmy voting was rigged

In 2012, when his show ‘The Apprentice’ didn’t win an Emmy, Trump said the Emmy voting was rigged against him

When Obama beat Mitt Romney in 2012, Trump said it was rigged

When Cruz beat Trump in Iowa, Trump said it was rigged, and that Cruz committed fraud and stole it

Trump said the Colorado primary in 2016 was rigged against him He said the 2016 election would be rigged against him, but only if Hillary won. That’s how he’d know it was rigged. He won the electoral vote and he never mentioned it being rigged again because obviously it was clean, because he won.

But he did lose 2016 popular vote to Hillary, so he said that was rigged,
and said there were 3-5 million fake votes cast on her behalf nationwide despite no evidence to support the claim. He put together a bipartisan commission of Republicans and Democrats to investigate 2016 voter fraud, they found nothing at all. Several members of the commission said there was never any evidence to justify it.

He said the 2020 election was rigged for Biden

He said the GA special election was rigged

And here we are now, headed into the GOP primary and of course he’s saying the primary and the general will be rigged against him

Can we please stop pretending this man is sane and that he’s our only hope to Save America?

For instance, Tina Peters in CO, an election clerk took an image of the machine data before dominion came in to change batteries etc. The data was completely different after their “maintenance” was completed. In the 2012 election there were lots of irregularities in Ohio and I think Florida. It was suggested a recount be done, but Romney declined. Also, Romney’s GOTV software suddenly didn’t function. GA is still grappling with ballot fraud as is MI, Wi and PA. Now Connecticut has film showing problems with ballot-stuffing. Then you have the film “2000 Mules,” and other True the Vote evidence depicting all kinds of election malfeasance and nonsense. The problem is Trump’s impending loss in 2024 isn’t going to produce any sort of reassessment by Republican primary voters. He’ll lie about the results and say he won so the base will stick with him and nominate him again in 2028.

Phil can talk about realignment all he wants, but Republicans are losing because the normal Republicans are choosing to wash their hands of this mess and just sit on the sideline. The party, especially since the January 6th riots, has been boiled down to the MAGA diehards who want Trump and only Trump and only want Trump cronies for the other races.

When Trump was not on the scene, as was the case in 2021, Republicans did very well. But the moment conman Donnie bolted back on the scene in 2022, the normal Republicans said “nope” and stood back. And predictably, Republicans underwhelmed at the ballot box.

For the time being, I still think the suburban voters that Jason fraud hates will come back to the party when conman Donnie is excised from the party, but the longer it goes the fewer there will be to come back to the party. The sooner the party rids itself of conman Donnie, the sooner it can win again, but not before.

However, I don’t think the party is interested in winning right now. Being angry seems to be a bigger selling point so the losing will continue.

His theory, certainly shared by many, is that if Putin is not defeated into Ukraine, he will then move on a NATO country, and under treaty obligations, the United States would have to be involved militarily. Thus, those who want to see “World War III” avoided, should take a great interest in seeing Ukraine defeat Russia.

Tell us janzam what you say if Putin did invade a NATO ally? Something tells me you would say then that NATO should not exist and the U.S. should stay out of it. Is that correct? Please specify.

  94. It’s not an either/or proposition, though. Good candidates win. Bad candidates lose. I’m not breaking any news with that statement, but winners have a message that resonates across all groups enough to cross the finish line first. Bad candidates don’t.

Reagan, Clinton, and Obama won because they had a message that appealed across all groups. Romney, for example, lost because he didn’t have a message in 2012 that crossed all groups. In fact, he talked poorly about the 47% and they shunned him. Trump attacked everyone and good chunks of every group said no thanks in 2020.

If a candidate has a compelling message and doesn’t set out to agitate, he or she won’t have to worry about “goosing” their numbers among this group or that group. The reason populism always fails is because it’s not a unifying message. Populism may attract some who haven’t voted for Republicans, but it does so at the cost of those who consistently voted for the party.

Suburban voters show up to vote every two years. They just do. It’s why Republicans did so well from Reagan until 2014. The populist working class doesn’t show up regularly to vote and it’s why Republicans flopped in 2022. It’s great to have them in the fold, but it can’t be as the cost of reliable, sensible voters. The coalition isn’t big enough and it never will be. Suburbia is where the growth is.

Just because the working class may have propelled Trump to a very narrow win in a year when he ran against the most unpopular candidate of the last 40 years shouldn’t have meant that everything needed to be focused on a group who thought the “Apprentice” was real. 2016 was a fluke, but everyone in the Republican Party seems to think it was some game changing moment. However, 2018, 2020, and 2022 show it wasn’t.

Trump ran against Hillary Clinton, whom had enormous vulnerability. Romney would have beaten her by a much bigger margin.

The bottom line is that Trump won in a fluke in 2016 against an historically bad candidate and since then, at the ballot box, the Republican Party, now melded in his image, has taken an absolute pounding.

There are red states that will vote Republican no matter what, just as there are blue states that no Republican would have a chance in, but the results of 2018, 2020, and 2022 show how much Trumpism has hurt the Republican Party and has gotten Democrats elected in swing states. 123. Trump’s going to move the Republican Party towards the pro-choice position and FoxNews is going to cheer him all along the way. The last fifty years will be washed away.

Meanwhile, the pro-life groups, that made a deal with the devil (aka Trump), will now find their influence reduced to almost nothing. And oh, by the way, Trump’s losing presidential effort will allow for an expanded supreme court that brings back Roe.

Trump has broken the Republican Party. It exists in name, but it has no policy direction or values anymore. It exists to fluff Trump and its most prominent members merely place a R after their name in hopes of increasing their prominence on FoxNews so they can run for higher office and grift off of it like Matt Gaetz.

This is how populism always ends, though. In failure. Ross Perot’s populist movement did the same in the 1990s. After a while, it was coopted by clowns like Pat Buchanan and the results were predictable. It flopped because it became little more than a “send a message” operation. Well, that’s where Trump’s steering the Republican Party.

  124. Zzzzz….. Trump is not responsible for “populism” in the GOP, he is merely an opportunist who harnessed it to his advantage.

That is the biggest mistake the TDS morons and those who think they will benefit by disparaging Trump supporters are making. Trump is a symptom, not the cause of the populist movement within the GOP.

The 800lb gorilla in the room is that the GOP base has changed. Not for the better IMO because I don’t agree with a lot of the protectionism and isolationism that comes with that change. But you have to be really stupid to think the GOP base is the same it was 20 years ago, it is not.

Unless the GOP leadership and candidates embrace that change, Trump will continue to do very well in GOP primaries because is seen as representing the interests of the majority of the GOP base almost exclusively.

The sooner the GOP moves to recognize its future lies as a working class/blue collar/small business/minorities party with policies that appeal to these demographics in all areas, including suburbs and urban areas, the quicker it will not only get rid of Trump (the person, not the message).

  125. Romney ran against the first black president at a time when the economy was growing. Obama was an excellent campaigner and Romney was not. It’s no surprise an incumbent won in 2012. The surprise was that Romney made it as close as he did considering his lack of political skills and his foot-in-mouth moments. Also, let’s not forget how much the clown car primary dragged him to the right. That hurt him as well.

Regardless, Romney did exceptionally well in the suburbs, the home of the Republican Party. Suburbanites show up every two years to vote and they did for Romney. However, blacks and Hispanics showed up in historic numbers to support the first minority president. They didn’t in 2016 and that’s why Clinton lost. Romney could’ve run a better campaign, but he was probably always going to lose.

It’s time to stop myopically focusing on working class voters. It’s a mirage that that group decides elections. They just don’t. In PA, MI, and WI, Obama won in 2012 because of off-the-charts turnout by blacks in Philly, Detroit, and Milwaukee. The wwc weren’t the determining group. Nor were they in 2016. Low black turnout in key cities was. As I tried to tell you three years ago, Baris is a huckster and should be ignored.

And, no, Clinton would not have beaten Romney in 2016. She would’ve lost and probably by several points. It was only Trump and his awfulness that kept the race close. Republican House candidates got 49.1% while conman Donnie got 46.1%. A difference of 3 percentage points. That’s because people like me were disgusted by him and left the presidential ballot blank. Trump made Clinton more electable than she would have been, but Trump’s always been about helping Democrats throughout his life so I guess this shouldn’t come as a surprise.

Jason fraud’s standards for decency and acceptability are totally dependent on whether a person has a R or D after his/her name. If Trump performed an abortion or filmed a porno in the White House, Jason fraud would find a way to defend it.

Ukraine was infamous for being the most corrupt country in Europe before the Russian invasion. Since then, Washington has sent Kiev over $100 billion in weapons and other direct financial assistance.

The White House has fought against establishing an office to oversee aid shipments to monitor for corruption. The Pentagon inspector general has found that American weapons shipped to Ukraine lack proper documentation. The Special Inspector General for Afghan Reconstruction has warned that without sufficient oversight of aid, corruption will run rampant and undermine Kiev’s military.

Weapons from the war in Ukraine have already been found in the hands of European criminals and African militants.

Last month, Zelensky made another sweeping move by firing the heads of all of Ukraine’s recruitment centers. The president reported that an investigation found dozens of officials made millions of dollars selling Ukrainians medical waivers from military conscription.

Recently a Ukrainian Hit List has surfaced threatening American influencers who have criticized Zelensky’s war. Jack Pesobiec and his family were added to it along with Tulsi Gabbard, Tucker Carlson and others. Amazing we are giving undocumented monies and aid to a country considered the most corrupt country in Europe before the war, who is firing defense ministers and, according to the NYT, firing missiles on it’s own people, blaming the Russians. In the meantime our own border has tens of thousands of undocumented people crossing over into our country, uninterrupted and stressing the resources of communities across the country.
