“Cars are now computers on wheels — which means they “have an unmatched power to watch, listen, and collect information about what you do and where you go,” per the report. That information is then shared with or sold to data brokers, law enforcement, and others.

The big picture: Americans spend about 300 hours a year driving — plus many more hours when the car is repurposed as an office, a lunch room, a phone booth, or even a recording studio. The information about what we do during those hours can be extremely valuable.

Out of 25 car brands studied by the Mozilla Foundation:

  10. Hi janzam,

    It’s nice to be back.

I think that right now the greatest geopolitical and military threat the USA is Communist
China. Putin’s Russia is a threat to the former countries of the USSR and eventually to the NATO nations. The entire Ukraine dumpster fire reminds me somewhat of how Europe stumbled into World War I back in 1914.

I also think that the greatest internal threat to the USA is the sharp left turn that the Democrats and their enablers have taken. Our internal problems could be fixed if the ALL of the GOP would finally toughen up and go on the offensive. The old cliche that “elections have consequences” is applicable here. Every election is called “the most important election in our history”. The 2024 and 2026 elections might actually be the most important election since the election of President Lincoln.

  67. Agree with Nate Silver. It’s way too early to be relying on polling to predict 2024:

“But it is much too soon to engage in what Other Nate (Cohn, of the New York Times) calls “crosstab diving”, i.e. scrutinizing the minutiae of polls. Most voters aren’t paying attention yet, and it will be nine months to a year before they do. Furthermore, polling this early historically has little to no predictive power. It’s not hard, for instance, to find polls from this point in 2015 showing Hillary Clinton with double-digit leads over Trump.

There are exactly four things you need to know about the horse race right now:

    Joe Biden could win.

    Donald Trump could win.

Someone other than Biden or Trump could win.

The odds of these scenarios do not shift very much from day to day.

I’d argue that 1 (Biden winning) is more likely than 2 (Trump winning) which, in turn, is more likely than 3 (someone else winning). But unless you’re making trades of some kind, there probably isn’t a lot to be gained from further precision than that right now.”

Good reading for TDS morons and those who believe trashing the Constitution is ok to “get Trump”.

“The defendant is not only a former president; he is also the leading candidate to run against the incumbent president. Never before in our history has a leading presidential candidate been indicted, especially in the run-up to the election. If the trials themselves are unfair or even reasonably perceived to be unfair, our nation will be further divided and our standing in the world of democracies will be further damaged.

There is great desire among those who strongly oppose what Trump did in the past and what they believe he is likely to do in the future to “get” him. Many believe that the noble end of preventing Trump from being our next president justifies ignoble means, including stretching the Constitution and the law so as to assure his conviction. They believe that the reelection of President Trump would be more dangerous than compromising his constitutional rights.

That is a shortsighted view that endangers future generations of Americans.

At the moment, it appears as if Donald Trump will be denied his most fundamental constitutional right—to present his defenses to an unbiased jury.”

  108. I refuse to get worked up over WHO the Dem nominee should be. Here’s why: If you believe, as I do, that Trump is an existential threat to our democracy, then the ONLY thing that matters is defeating him. THAT’S IT. And the ONLY person who can defeat Trump is the Dem nominee. So the ONLY person I’ll vote for in 2024 is the Dem nominee.

I just don’t get all the Democratic angst over Biden. Heck, if a conservative like me can be all in with Biden again, why can’t all Democrats?

Trump could be the nominee in 2036 and these listless vessels would still cite to 2016 as evidence the guy isn’t the greatest loser in the history of American politics.

    – This fits Jason fraud and the other MAGA chumps to a T. Because Trump accidentally won against the worst Democrat nominee in fifty years, we must all believe, as he does, that the only way to win is to rerun the 2016 campaign over and over even though it hasn’t produced a national winner since.

    the year is 2032.

Trump is the nominee, beating the only remaining R gov in the country after a 24 and 28 wipeout.

baris and hegseth say he’s the only one who can win PA and WI. Emerson and Fabrizio have him +10 on Newsom, who drubbed him by 14% in 28 (stolen tho, ofc).

    Wyd?

    – Regrettably, this bit of apparent hyperbole is a real possibility because Trump supporters are cultists who will never give up on their Kool-Aid provider and Trump will never be able to give up the grift of running for president. It’s just been too profitable for him.
