“We’ve seen a lot of concerning things revealed in the transcripts of interviews with two IRS whistleblowers who told Congress that decisions about a probe into the Biden corruption by the DOJ, FBI, and IRS were seemingly “influenced by politics.”

We heard about the WhatsApp message where Hunter Biden was threatening a Chinese official, claiming his father was in the room with him. That blew up, yet again, Joe Biden’s claim that he never talked with his son about his business.

The whistleblowers also shockingly revealed that the FBI confirmed the laptop was Hunter’s back on Nov. 6, 2019. Yet despite all the claims about Russian disinformation, the FBI sat on that and never clarified the issue when they knew the truth. Instead, the 51 former intel officials were able to spread the claim in October 2020 that it was like “likely Russian disinformation,” although they had no evidence to support that.

IRS Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley was one of the whistleblowers; the other was an unnamed IRS agent. Shapley told Congress that the “DOJ provided preferential treatment, slow-walked the investigation, did nothing to avoid obvious conflicts of interest in this investigation.” He said the investigation into Hunter Biden began in 2018 when they were looking into “a foreign-based amateur online pornography platform.”

He said they were seeking search warrants in the spring of 2020 and wanted to conduct “approximately 15 contemporaneous interviews at that time.” But the DOJ stood in their way. They wanted to search Joe Biden’s guest house in September 2020, where Hunter stayed at one point but were stopped by the DOJ, despite having probable cause.

According to Shapley, Assistant United States Attorney Lesley Wolf also didn’t want them to ask about the “Big Guy” or “Dad.”

Among other things, we wanted to question Walker about an email that said: “Ten held by H for the big guy.” We had obvious questions like who was H, who the big guy was, and why this percentage was to be held separately with the association hidden.

But AUSA Wolf interjected and said she did not want to ask about the big guy and stated she did not want to ask questions about “dad.” When multiple people in the room spoke up and objected that we had to ask, she responded, there’s no specific criminality to that line of questioning.

Shapley noted that when the FBI finally interviewed Walker, they avoided the topic of Joe Biden:

The FBI agent continued: “Any times when he was in office, or did you hear Hunter Biden say that he was setting up a meeting with his dad with them while dad was still in office?”

    Walker answered: “Yes.”

Now imagine if Trump was in office and these investigations were into Trump Jr, how differently would it have been handled.

  35. Hi Folks,

BBC News has good coverage of the apparent Wagner Group mutiny. They are apparently moving north from Rostov-on-Don on the M4 toward Moscow. Google maps traffic delays showed red along the road from Voronezh up the M4 to Moscow, according to the BBC News report. They showed a Google Maps real-time picture, but I tried looking on my Google Maps and it just showed all blue along the route.

Apparently, as the Wagner Grouo column moves north, they are gathering either overt support from the Russian security forces or those forces are passive to the Wagner Group presence. A strong word of caution here is in order, first reports in combat are almost always wrong.

  36. If Wagner Group makes it to Moscow, there’s very little reason to think the city’s police forces and conscript troops will be able to stop 20,000 battle hardened mercenaries. More than likely, the police forces and their leaders would either stand down or switch sides the moment Wagner makes it to the city. Putin ruled by fear and the fear of him would be gone and replaced with the fear of Prigozhin. In other words, the king is dead. Long live the king.

It’s also very interesting the Russian air forces have made no real attempts to stop the Wagner convoy. I remember the end of the first Gulf War when a large column of Iraqis tried to escape Kuwait and the US bombed that convoy into dust. It was known as the highway of death. Not the case here which makes me wonder whether the Russia military has effectively decided to stand down or are sympathetic to Wagner’s aims?

It might behoove them to throw Putin overboard in much the same way General Sisi did in Egypt in 2013. I suspect they would be much easier people with whom the West could deal than Prigozhin.

Sisi is certainly no Thomas Jefferson, but he’s kept the country Western oriented and moved their economy towards capitalism. If Shoigu took power before Prigozhin had a chance to do so, he’d probably get some tacit Western backing and might even release political dissidents in an attempt to show the West he wants a new direction.

In fact many are comparing this revolt to gang warfare, as all the players, from Putin to Prigozhin, are hardened thugs vying only for money and power. The Wagner group are mercenaries, cold-blooded killers, not knights on white horses. Prigozhin, himself, is very wealthy from taking the spoils of war for his own. Consequently, it’s not clear if Putin is killed or kicked out who his replacement would be, and if the new ruler would be better or worse. Info, for instance, coming in says the grievances of the Wagner group include not being paid, and they thought Putin “was too soft” on his Ukrainian invasion tactics. If true, that’s very troubling.

“The Defence Ministry is trying to deceive society and the president and tell us a story about how there was crazy aggression from Ukraine and that they were planning to attack us with the whole of NATO,” Mr Prigozhin said in a video clip released on Telegram by his press service, calling the official version “a beautiful story”. …

“The task was to divide material assets (in Ukraine),” he said.

“There was massive theft in the Donbas, but they wanted more.”

  89. I am not convinced Putin is out, unless much more of the regular troops defect. But this will weaken him and fuel more opposition to the war in Ukraine. If he survives, I would expect he will push for a negotiated settlement to save face and then declare victory.

The Wagner guy does not have enough popular support to replace Putin. If Putin is replaced it will be someone else. It could be a hardliner, but even if it is, he will have enough problems to deal with besides Ukraine.

Meanwhile, I hope Ukraine takes advantage of the chaos and chase the demoralized Russians still in Ukraine back to the Russian border as much as possible. You would think some of the Russian troops are thinking who and what am I dying for here exactly.

  90. It’s entirely possible elements of the army and the intelligence services have coordinated with Prigozhin to drive Putin out of power and return Russia to where it stood internationally pre-Ukraine invasion. I think it’s unlikely to happen, but all of this really depends on what the army does. My guess is they would use Egypt 2013 as a model.

In February 2011, Mubarak desperately wanted his military to crack down on protestors in Tahir Square, but the military stood down and eventually sided with the protestors and he was deposed. Might that happen here? Possible, but it will all depend on what Shoigu and Gerasimov do. The bulk of the army will likely go where they go.

I don’t buy the idea that the conscripts and police force guarding Moscow can withstand an attack by battle hardened mercenaries. If the Wagner troops make it to Moscow in force, they might succeed in toppling Putin. Might.

⚡️The full statement of Lukashenko’s press service on the situation around Wagner PMC:

“This morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin briefed his Belarusian counterpart on the situation in southern Russia with the private military company Wagner. The heads of state agreed on joint actions.

In further development of the agreements, the President of Belarus, having additionally specified the situation through his own channels, in agreement with the President of Russia, held talks with the head of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin.

Negotiations continued throughout the day. As a result, they came to agreements on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloody massacre on the territory of Russia. Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed persons of the Wagner company in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tensions.

At the moment, on the table is an absolutely profitable and acceptable option for solving the situation, with security guarantees for the Wagner PMC fighters.

As previously reported, also today the President of Belarus held two meetings with the power bloc of the country on this situation”

  149. https://www.heritage.org/the-constitution/commentary/does-the-constitution-mandate-universal-birthright-citizenship-heres

Even though the U.S. government has long abided by a policy of universal birthright citizenship–that is, of treating all persons born in the United States as citizens, regardless of the immigration status of their parents–the reality is that the Constitution doesn’t mandate this policy.

In fact, while the Citizenship Clause eliminated race-based barriers to birthright citizenship, Congress expressly intended to limit birthright citizenship based on the strength of a person’s relationship to the United States.

More importantly, the government today needn’t amend the Constitution in order to restrict citizenship for the U.S.-born children of illegal or non-immigrant aliens. It could simply stop abiding by a broad policy never required by the Constitution in the first place.

The citizenship clause has had different interpretations over the years. I don’t think it has been tested in the courts, because how controversial it is. However, the US is unique, compared to how other countries dictate citizenship. In how it loosely grants it to people born here to parents who are here illegally.

When you have your troops digging trenches outside your capital because you are afraid of an army of mercenary convicts it doesn’t do much for your image of invincibility. The days of the Wagner Group operating independently and doing most of the dying for mother Russia are over. Some will fade into the countryside and others will continue to be used under closer supervision, but Putin is not going to allow a rogue army anymore. Putin controls the media but discontent about the war and his leadership will only grow. Some things like the Prigozhin’s statement that Russia invaded without cause and the objective was to pillage the Donbas and Ukraine of its resources can’t be taken back, and Zelensky will use it to Ukraine’s advantage. In addition, it probably weakened Putin’s grip on Belarus and other puppet states.

Putin put down the rebellion, as I predicted he would, but the fact it happened at all did not help the cause of a new USSR or Greater Russia.

But JeffP, Tina and Jan and other Putin sycophants can rejoice that their hero Putin can now return to bombing, killing, displacing, raping, torturing and exiling Ukrainians.

It also is a gamble that Biden’s mental and cognitive decline won’t get any worse in the year and a half before the GE. Those are all huge gambles and the odds aren’t good for any of them.

The denial Trump supporters are living is being fueled by a sincere righteous anger toward the corruption in the Biden DOJ and FBI. Trump is feeding that anger any time he can. Trump isn’t winning a GE when he’s down double digits with independents – and that’s down with independents to a pathetic Joe Biden. It’s simple math. Trump is the reason Democrats haven’t thrown Joe overboard as of yet. Trump is the Democratic salvation in any GE. They are counting on Republicans to nominate him.

Denying or belittling the accomplishments during his first term in office only deepens the loyalty of those who found them beneficial. It also creates even greater divisions in an already divided Republican Party – a party that should wisely seek more unity if it hopes to win the presidency in 2024. I personally think all conservative candidates should stop railing at each other (including Trump, DeSantis, and Christie), and aim all their criticisms at the Biden Family, where there is more than enough canon fodder to use against such a corrupt administration.

He received a number of hearty applauses from the audience as well. The one thing, though, that was missing, IMO, was strength and conviction in his delivery. As one commentator said afterwards, it was like he was reading points written by someone else, and consequently sounded dry and rehearsed.

Trump, bring the keynote speaker, came out to a hero’s welcome. He warmly engaged with the crowd, held their enthusiastic attention for almost 90 minutes, frequently spoke spontaneously, attacked his points of contention with Biden vigorously, and was plain and simple very impressive. Here is Trump supporting NATO in 2017, and opposing Russian activity in Ukraine. Trump’s warning to Putin sounds pretty clear. Putin feared Trump, but but did not fear Biden:

“We urge Russia to cease its destabilising activities in Ukraine and elsewhere and its support for hostile regimes including Syria and Iran, and to instead join the community of responsible nations in our fight against common enemies and the defence of civilization itself,” he said.

The Kremlin said Russia was not guilty of any destabilising activity.

The brief visit to Warsaw, which included a meeting with regional heads of state, was billed by the White House as an effort to patch up relations with European allies after a tense NATO summit in May.

Trump was received by enthusiastic crowds on a central Warsaw square – some 15,000 people according to police estimates – many arriving on busses arranged by parliamentary deputies of the ruling conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party.

Trump reiterated his criticism of low defence spending levels by many European nations and praised Poland for meeting the alliance’s target of spending 2 percent of economic output on defence.

  262. That 2017 piece were the days when the US operated under clear guidelines and boundaries towards a country we considered more a foe than a friend. Even though DJT cautioned Russia about destabilizing aggression in Ukraine, it was delivered in a way not to totally alienate and cut off diplomatic relationships with Putin like Biden has done. Walking a fine line of strength, with guardrails of diplomacy in place, is tricky but more effective in discouraging invasions as well as wars. Biden has been dismal in all phases dealing with not only Ukraine but other foreign leaders and affairs – the Afghan fiasco, ME estrangement, encouraging coalitions to form that don’t include the U.S., encouraging China’s expansion by acting like a noodle. Whoever wins the presidential election in 2024 has to have definitive standards/goals, along with the courage to execute them not recklessly but decisively. IOW, exactly the opposite of how Biden’s presidency has operated.

  263. it was delivered in a way not to totally alienate and cut off diplomatic relationships with Putin like Biden has done.”

Hello? Putin invaded Ukraine and is responsible for unspeakable carnage and the displacement of ten million people, the killing of tens of thousands of civilians, the bombing and shelling of cities and residential areas, hospitals, schools and infrastructure and the destruction of Ukraine’s economy and you are worried about “alienating Putin”?

    Seriously?

Biden has not been “dismal” in Ukraine. He has taken a strong stance against Russia which by the way any rational Republican should support (and have).

Now did Biden’s weakness as a President encourage Putin in Ukraine? Maybe. Personally I doubt whether Putin would have invaded with Trump as President.

However, once the invasion happened, I cannot fault Biden’s response. He has done the right thing in helping Ukraine fight off the Russians. There is a lot of bad in Biden’s presidency, but aiding Ukraine is not one of them.

Of course it is, like all politically motivated stunts. If you read the indictment, it is the “throw every bit of mud against the wall and pray like hell something will stick” style of prosecution. It starts with an accusation followed by page after page of BS that never supports the accusation.

When Trump said those words, Russia did not invade Ukraine. Full stop! It was only after Biden shuffled into the WH, and first hedged on how much Russian land grab would be tolerated before the U.S. would take action, after which Biden pulled muscle on Putin that the invasion happened. Biden totally mishandled the conflict, and now you’re complimenting him because of pouring money into a proxy war with Russia, much more than the EU and NATO are doing. Plus no one here is addressing that Russia is doing fine, selling it’s oil to others, forming alliances with China (which never would have happened if Biden hadn’t indirectly forced the alliance), and creating ties with other countries like India to advance trading with currencies other than the dollar. If we lose our currency advantage our economy is heading south towards a Venezuelan type. There are so many more facets to this Ukrainian event, including how much more the Ukrainian people are suffering under the myopic policies of US war hawks, Russian warlords, and those who make a good living selling weapons.

-Grocery prices are trending down—egg prices down nearly 30% since January.

“PAPERLESS ORDER denying without prejudice Government’s Motion to Implement Special Condition of Release. The Government seeks an order implementing a special condition of bond related to Defendants’ (Trump and Nauta) communication with eighty-four listed witnesses about the facts of the case, except through counsel.

The Government conditions its request on the filing of the non-exhaustive list under seal. Defendants take no position on the Government’s seal request but reserve the right to object to the special condition and the manner by which the Government intends to implement it.

In the meantime, numerous news organizations have moved to intervene to oppose the Government’s Motion to File Witness List Under Seal, citing the First Amendment and related legal principles. Upon review of the foregoing materials, the Government’s Motion is denied without prejudice, and the Motion to Intervene and accompanying Motions to Appear Pro Hac Vice are denied as moot.

The Government’s Motion does not explain why filing the list with the Court is necessary; it does not offer a particularized basis to justify sealing the list from public view; it does not explain why partial sealing, redaction, or means other than sealing are unavailable or unsatisfactory; and it does not specify the duration of any proposed seal. Despite the grand pontifications and breathless pearl-clutching by the CNN narrative engineers, the audio will NEVER be used at trial, if there is even a trial – which is highly unlikely, because it cannot be admitted into evidence. That’s why Jack Smith gave it to them. The audio is useless, except for the value in promoting the lawfare narrative engineering effort.

Why? Because the documents that are claimed to be heard in the audio are nowhere to be found. That’s right, the DOJ and FBI never found any “classified” or “super-secret” documents as described in the audio. As a result, the audio represents nothing, a literal nothingburger, because without the documents the audio is inadmissible.

You cannot submit evidence in court of a person talking about documents without the documents the audio is supposedly talking about. Can you see the issue now? As a result, the audio is nothing more than President Trump talking about something the prosecution cannot identify or prove. It’s inadmissible, hence no value, hence the leak.

Republicans, now a rump party with small minorities in both chambers of Congress after seven successive election defeats, offered mixed reviews about nominating a Trump for the fifth time in a row, but offer fealty to the new dear leader because they remain afraid of Trump and his cult. Those who were planning to run for president acknowledged they would likely lose again and made clear they would not negatively campaign against the Trumps because, after 17 years, they still hold out hope Trump’s support will collapse and they will be the beneficiaries.

Ah yes, the moral compass of a floating turd.

    1) I have posted many times, even on this thread, that I have my doubts on Trump winning a GE, and that is one reason I support the Golden Calf instead.

    2) My criticisms of many of Trump’s appointments are well known. Sessions, Bolton, Scaramucci, the idiot he had as commerce secretary (Ross?) just to name a few.

    3) None of this changes the fact Trump was a damm good President who delivered for conservatives despite being wrong on some issues like trade, foreign policy and immigration. It doesn’t change the fact the 2020 was decided by only 42,000 votes in three states under highly dubious election rules and rampant fraud. It doesn’t change the fact that if Rs want to win in 2024, they will need the blue collar and minority votes Trump brought to the party and they will need the Trump base to win.

But Amoral Scumbag doesn’t really want Rs to win in 2024. He will never actually vote for the Golden Calf, while I certainly would. He only wants a GOP civil war because he thinks it helps Democrats.

In the end, most of us here will support the R nominee, while Amoral Scumbag will vote as usual for the Dem. In the end, it is not about Trump just like it was not about any previous R candidate.

    History repeats itself.

The fact that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s team (presumably) leaked this audio to CNN only further supports the fact that this prosecution of
    @realDonaldTrump
    is politically motivated.

They’re playing to the mainstream media peanut gallery; not making a case to a jury.

  371. Let’s see. Conman Donnie Trump’s legal team received all non-classified discovery from the special counsel late last week. That included audio recordings like the one CNN played last night.

Almost certainly, conman Donnie’s team, not necessarily his lawyers, leaked the audio to CNN to get it out there and let it seep into the public consciousness. Why? Because the longer it’s out in the public, the less it may matter when it might have an impact.

Imagine if this audio was played at a trial just ten days before Iowa votes. Its impact could be huge in the heat of primary season. But by leaking it now, its impact, if anyone remembers it days before Iowa, will be negligible then.

  372. Of course they are. They could see people weren’t buying the BS so they come up with a tape that actually Trump can use to his advantage and in fact is already doing so.

Here is why Trump is still popular in his own words:

“We got the gasoline prices down to a dollar eighty-seven, actually, we had periods of time where it was less than that. People were happy. We had the greatest economy in history. In history, there’s never been an economy like we had going.

And then you had… you got hit by China’s gift to us, okay? COVID, or the China virus as I call it because it’s a much more accurate name. We get hit by that, and we brought it back. And the stock market was higher, when I left it was higher than pre-COVID. I mean if you think about it, it was a miracle, the job we did, we actually did it twice.

But there’s never been an economy, the likes of which we built. We had something every single group of people, black, white — everybody — Hispanic, women, men, everybody was at the top of the line. Whether you had a high-school diploma, or you graduated number one in your class from the Wharton School of Finance — everybody — everybody was doing well. It was an amazing period of time, and I think that’s why my poll numbers are so high, ’cause people want it back.”

THIS is what the Golden Calf has to deal with. Insulting the people who still support Trump is not going to help. The challenge is how do you convince them you can do an even better job WITHOUT the baggage, drama, and controversy.
