“Russian scientists must develop a biological weapon that would only work on Anglo-Saxons – says Lieutenant General Andrey Gurulev, member of defense committee in Russian parliament.
“Since such a situation has developed, we ourselves need to sit down, our scientists, and develop the same weapon against the Anglo-Saxons. They specifically study the gene pool of each people and try to make the weapon that will destroy their gene pool. We need to deal with the Anglo-Saxons – this is the main enemy. And they should know about it, that guys, God forbid, you will get no less in return,” Gurulev said.”

The mighty Russian army does not have night vision gear. Unbelievable!
“Ukrainian troops are taking control of the darkness along the southern front in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk Oblasts. As Ukraine’s 2023 counteroffensive grinds toward its third week, more and more Ukrainian assaults are launching at night.
The Ukrainians’ shift to after-dark operations wasn’t possible until recently. Those hundreds of modern tanks and fighting vehicles that Kyiv has gotten from its foreign allies since January? Their greatest advantage over contemporary Russian vehicles might be their optics, including thermal night-vision gear that can spot enemy forces from thousands of yards away, even in total darkness.
“Imported equipment has excellent night optics,” one Russian milblogger noted. “They can go and conduct surveillance, and aim and control the accuracy of the fire. Therefore, the enemy chooses the night.””

I posted this on the mothership, I know some of you have already made the switch
Because the lifeboat does not work for me, my long run of multiple almost daily postings will end when this site ends. I can still monitor the comments and post a blind post occasionally and who knows one day the issue will get resolved and the site will once again be privileged to read more of my insightful and pithy posts.
Before the mother ship sinks and I bravely go down with it, a few wishes for friends and foes:
1) Bitter has done a great job creating a new site. It would a pity if this long tradition of HHR comments ended. There will be a lot of interesting developments in the coming years, so I hope the new site is as successful as the old one in holding together this diverse group of posters.
2) I wish my friend wes all the best in his fight against cancer. It seems like he has an positive and optimistic attitude which seems to be key to successful outcomes. I hope he is cured and puts this all behind him and continues to post at the new HHR. I know he has reserved some special vitriol lately against me, but over the years we haven’t always disagreed and I consider him a worthy opponent when we do. I have some people in my family and friends undergoing some difficult medical issues, and I include wes in my prayers for them. I know wes does not believe in prayers but it can’t hurt. Plus, they are non-denominational prayers since I don’t subscribe to any organized religion.
3) I hope one day Amoral Scumbag actually votes for a Republican on the ballot. I don’t expect it to happen but hope springs eternal.
4) I hope NYC realizes sending messages while electing more liberal Dems only helps Chuck Schumer. Ok, ok, maybe that IS his intention. I hope one day he wakes up and realizes WE ARE NOT WINNING on immigration. I don’t expect either to happen but hope springs eternal.
5) I hope the Putin Admiration Society, Putin toadies, and Putin Lapdogs realize Putin’s vision of a new USSR and Greater Russia should not be allowed to prevail, and that failure to support Ukraine is in fact supporting Russia’s aggression and war crimes.
6) I hope the TDS morons realize Trump will eventually be gone either physically or politically, but the effects of giving up on conservative principles, constitutional rights and the rule of law in order to accomplish that will be permanent. The ends do not justify the means. If you favor frivolous impeachments and rogue prosecutions because it serves your purposes against one person, you will one day see these same bastardizations of rules and laws used against you or people you favor. Bet on it.
7) I hope one day Tgca will stop eating rabbit food and realize there is nothing better to eat than grilled baby lamb chops. I hope one day he realizes conservatives don’t believe in all the OWS BS he believes in. And I will continue to pray for any unlucky fish that may fall into his care.
8) I hope Walt and Cash Cow find the 22nd Century more rewarding than the 21st.
9) Go Golden Calf! Go A-holes!
10) GFYs!

HHR closed at midnight. My post at 12:30 got rejected. Tgca got the last post.
I was reviewing Bitter’s post. I thought is sucked but gave it a 4.
Here goes
I give Bitter’s “I am still on the fence about everything” post a 4.
He also posted several lies
“Women with education are seen as the enemy and can only have one possible point of view.”
Where did that BS come from. Women are treated very well here. We even made Wwally the first female A-hole. I will let the women here speak for themselves, but frankly I never heard anyone here be critical of “women with an education”.
Blacks not named Tim Scott are viewed as building torching BLM radicals’
More lies. There have been some racists here over the years but they are always identified and attacked. I never saw racism tolerated here, that is the biggest crock.
BLM is composed of building torching radicals. Nobody ever suggested all blacks were BLM, ridiculous.
“Illegals are not looking for a better life but murdering invaders.”
Nobody ever denied illegals seek a better life. The question is does that justify open borders.
Outside of that, the rest of Bitter’s usual attempt to sit on the fence is ok.
Still, he can GFH.

What a crock. Yeah, Trump did get votes in Manhattan and DC. But you can make a generalization that these are Democratic bastions.
Most “highly educated” wine sipping suburban women (especially younger) ARE liberals so that is a fair assessment. And yeah, if they support Biden and the Dems they should be on the enemy list.” The key word here is “most”, and as Bitter points out, the Philly suburbs have gotten more liberal with the influx of people from Philadelphia. There are still conservative suburban women but you would be a fool to not understand they are a shrinking demographic.
I won’t be able to see this post but here is a blind GFY.
As the Terminator famously said….. “I will be back”.
“Higher educational attainment is increasingly associated with Democratic Party affiliation and leaning. At the same time, those without college experience – once a group that tilted more Democratic than Republican – are roughly divided in their partisan orientation.
These twin shifts have resulted in the widest educational gap in partisan identification and leaning seen at any point in more than two decades of Pew Research Center surveys.
In 1994, 39% of those with a four-year college degree (no postgraduate experience) identified with or leaned toward the Democratic Party and 54% associated with the Republican Party. In 2017, those figures were exactly reversed.
Democratic gains have been even more pronounced among those who pursue postgraduate education. In 1994, those with at least some postgraduate experience were evenly split between the Democratic and Republican parties. Today, the Democratic Party enjoys a roughly two-to-one advantage in leaned partisan identification. While some of this shift took place a decade ago, postgraduate voters’ affiliation with and leaning to the Democratic Party have grown substantially just over the past few years, from 55% in 2015 to 63% in 2017.
By contrast, Republicans have been gaining ground over the past several years with those who do not have bachelor’s degrees. Among those with no more than a high school education, 47% affiliate with the GOP or lean Republican, while 45% identify as Democrats or lean Democratic. Democrats held a significant advantage among voters with a high school degree or less education for much of the late 1990s through early 2000s, and as recently as 2014 (47% Democratic, 42% Republican”
As we can see these trends have little to do with Trump.

Bill Barr’s opinion is hardly a reason for Trump to either suspend or quit his run for the presidency. Barr has proven himself to twist the truth in how he supposedly explored the 2020 irregularities. His book would fail an accurate fact check. And, his constant TV appearances, excoriating his former boss, seems not only overdone but disingenuous.
As for what some see as an “ego-driven pursuit”, many others see it as an attempt to return and complete Trump’s original agenda dealing with curbing the administrative state’s power. Like the Russia investigation legal travesty, a majority see these indictments as simply a way to end him from seeking the presidency a second time. With this in mind the question arises as to why they are so feverishly trying to push him aside. Is it because they think he may be the one best positioned, with guts and insider experience, to successfully tackle all of DC’s corruption and ills?

JeffP and Barr and other assorted TDS morons and swamp creatures all “agree” the indictment is “damming”. The “legal eagles” are divorced from the real world.
Despite all the MSM propaganda, most Americans know it is BS. If 47% of Americans think the charges are politically motivated, it is much higher among Rs.
That is why JeffP’s theory that “Trump is finished” is wishful thinking.
The fact JeffP and other “conservatives” are willing to sell out their principles because the ends justify the means against Trump is one reason why the country is in so much trouble. EVERY R and conservative should be outraged at the political persecution Trump has suffered since he started running in 2015, whether you like him or not. Russia hoax, faux impeachments, endless partisan investigations, weaponization of the DOJ, you name it. Standing with Trump against a double standard of justice whether you like him or agree with him should be a badge of honor. Joining the partisan hacks willing to weaponize the government and the DOJ for political expediency is the epitome of weakness.
I don’t want Trump nominated. But I am not going to side with Merrick Garland because it might sideline Trump. Trump will eventually be gone. The consequences of bastardizing the justice system against one man will be permanent.
“The public reaction to the federal case against Trump is especially noteworthy.

Trump following a non lawyer Judicial Watch Tom Fitton legal advice on the top secret docs and pick a battle with the DOJ which caused his ex lawyer to flip on him when Trump asked to him hide the documents that he did not have ownership too.

Bitter, we are still a long way out from the primaries, meaning anything can happen between now and then. My mind is open to processing what those changes might encompass. However, as of today I think the indictment is politically derived, like many of the earlier investigations and impeachments thrown @ Trump, which turns me off to the political class in general. Also, Trump’s closeness to the working classes, his tenacity to get things done on their behalf outweighs the baggage many see as a negative.
Unlike you I don’t see Trump’s actions as being pro-Putin, but rather anti war. He is also anti corruption and supports thinning the DC bureaucracies occupied by partisan employees. I like what he is attempting to accomplish, and despise the partisan push back he’s getting from those who want to be POTUS. It all seems more self-serving than trying to benefit the country.
Fundamentally, I want a presidential candidate whose primary goal is to back-peddle us away from the abyss of open borders, a plethora of bad government policies, and authoritarianism that the Biden administration is taking us. Finally, the Ukrainian war, which seems to be your primary consideration, is a conflict that should be shared more by the EU and others, allowing a greater focus on the growing problems here at home and around the world.

We can argue on whether he is entitled to these docs or not (I agree he should not be entitled to any NON DE-CLASSIFIABLE docs). We can argue whether classified docs are safer in Biden’s garage or inside Mar el Lago. But in the end most rational people understand Trump intended no evil or treasonous purpose in keeping the docs and there is no evidence any harm to the US resulted.
Trump could have been damaged merely by a finding that he violated certain regulations, was reckless with classified material, etc. Maybe even some kind of misdemeanor charge that could have resulted in a conviction and fine. Everyone can understand that. But when you charge a former President with 37 felonies including espionage all you are doing is cementing a perception that he is a victim.
THAT is why this “bad poll” is probably accurate, as it mirrors other polls that show most people think this is all politically motivated.

The sampling in that poll is way off impacting the bottom line election numbers. Probably not so much the politically motivated charging.
Facing reality has nothing to do with siding with Garland. There is zero upside in Trump remaining in the race. Unless your a koolaid drinking Trump supporter.

There is no charge that Trump committed actual espionage with anyone I don’t think. Most people defending Trump use whataboutism and never address what is in the indictment. Maybe the Judge will find cause and dismiss.
Having the top secret department documents in possession is considered under the espionage law. DeSantis talked about this in the case of Clinton. That when he was in the Navy “possession” alone would lead to court marshal.

If Trump is prevented from running through some government tactic, or something genuinely crops up demonstrating he committed a crime, I won’t vote for him in the primary. However, unlike you, I don’t see Trump as pro-Putin, but rather anti-war. I also feel we are committing far too many of our resources to Zelensky – both in armaments and money – ignoring other issues worthy of our attention, domestically and abroad. Furthermore, I see Zelensky as more self-serving, enriching himself, much like Biden, instead of fully involved with only benefiting and watching the backs of the Ukrainian people.
I posted an earlier, longer post which I guess got lost in the hhrphoenix vapors.

That must be “garbage” too.
TDS idiots like JeffP think “polls don’t matter”. Wrong. These polls cement the perception of Trump as a victim AND the frontrunner. It keeps money flowing to his campaign that could otherwise be going to the Golden Calf. Trump will use them as fund raisers and persuasion points in rallies and interviews.
JeffP keeps talking about “what’s in the indictment”. Zzzzz… everyone knows who wrote the indictments, THAT is why most rational people understand this is political persecution and not credible charges. Once people come to the conclusion the charges are politically motivated then it doesn’t really matter what’s in it, akin to eating a rotten egg you don’t have to eat it all to determine it is spoiled.
We can argue all day whether Trump was wrong or not in keeping the docs. You will find most people can’t justify 37 felonies without concluding it is political in nature.
And that is why you will have to find something else to make Trump go away. In my view, the only way is to convince enough people that in a nutshell the Golden Calf is a “Trump that can win” .

In 1864, the Maryland assembly declared: “that all negroes or other slaves already within the Province, and all negroes and other slaves to be hereafter imported into the Province shall serve durante vita. And all children born of any negro or other slave shall be slaves as their fathers were for the term of their lives.”
My family was part of that atrocious history in Maryland with a couple dozen slaves being passed along to their children and grandchildren along with the family’s horse and silver.
I am grateful that a Republican President finally ended the atrocity. I am saddened that so many needed to wage war to defend the practice. And I celebrate the news of the emancipation coming to Texas in June 19th, 1865.

Trumps interview with Faux didn’t look too good for DJT. His defense regarding the indictment is more whataboutism, the TOP SECRET docs NARA wanted returned were all mixed in with my personal stuff, NATA should have said pretty please to get them back and I was too busy. I am not joking. He probably said too much and might have violated a court order. This is a disaster for the GOP if he stays in the race until the end.

Everything I’ve heard and read about NARA’s interaction and grievances with Trump have seemed more aggressive and petty than with President Obama, Clinton or VP Biden and even Pence, and of course SOS HRC. Most government entanglements, where Trump was involved, the knives of “Get Trump” have been out and sharpened with hopes of finding something, anything to throw him out of office.
Consequently Trump is always on the offensive in protecting himself from endless abuses of government power. So, rather than bring a “narcissist” I see him as becoming somewhat jaded, in his response to the numerous facetious charges bombarding him from both the left and right. He’s different when he is in the company of the people – his demeanor is cordial, empathetic, and understanding to their concerns. That’s why he is still polling so well. Time will tell, though, if that holds as the election gets closer.

Just a reminder how this whole thing started.
William Bosanko. the very self-important CEO of NARA, told House Intel what triggered their inquiry into missing presidential records was the fact Trump didn’t give them the transition letter from Obama and letter from Kim Jong Un.

Bosanko uses the ruse of Obama/Kim letters to warn Team Trump they are violating PRA. Instead of telling NARA to pound sand, the very uncooperative Team Trump hands over 15 boxes to NARA.
Bosanko then claims to have found classified material.

After admitting Trump probably did not pack the boxes (no duh) and it’s a rush job after a defeat, Bosanko says he wasn’t notified the boxes contained classified documents. Because they either weren’t (which I am assuming) or Team Trump didn’t know either. How is this a crime?

Mike Pence told CNN in November 2022 he didn’t take any classified documents with him upon leaving office. However, In January 2023, two years after leaving office Pence admitted to Congress and the federal government that he was holding classified documents at his home. These documents were taken illegally when he left office in January 2021. His declaration in Nov. 2022 was then obviously a lie. Why wasn’t Pence indicted? Why wasn’t Biden indicted for holding classified documents illegally, since 1974? What else is obvious is the unequal application of the law and Justice. It all depends on who it is and who the government wants to get rid of.

If Trump had returned the classified documents pursuant to the government’s request, there would not be an issue now. Instead, he was typically defiant — and now he is in deep trouble, with a good possibility of jail time:
“Former President Donald Trump on Monday defended his retention of classified materials after leaving the White House, telling Fox News he did not have time to go through the boxes filled with the documents.
“Why not just hand them over then?” Fox anchor Bret Baier asked in Trump’s first interview since being arraigned last week on federal charges.
“Because I had boxes. I want to go through the boxes and get all my personal things out,” Trump responded. “I don’t want to hand that over to [the National Archives] yet. And I was very busy, as you’ve sort of seen.”
Baier noted that the Justice Department’s indictment laid out how Trump allegedly told an aide to move the boxes containing classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate while also telling his lawyers to indicate he was cooperating.
“Before I send boxes over, I have to take all of my things out,” Trump said from his club in Bedminster, N.J., where the interview was filmed. “These boxes were interspersed with all sorts of things, golf shirts, clothing, pants, shoes, there were many things.””

FiveThirtyEight on Trump’s arrest. Even liberal pundits are admitting Trump’s hush money payments to a prostitute did not seriously impact his political support. At this point the impact of the classified document fiasco is not known:
“But polling suggests that the charges in this case could be viewed as more serious than those brought in New York, which relate to a hush-money payment that happened almost seven years ago. According to a late May poll from YouGov/Yahoo News, Americans said 52 percent to 32 percent that falsifying business records to conceal hush-money payments to a porn star was a serious crime. But they said 63 percent to 20 percent that taking highly classified documents from the White House and obstructing efforts to retrieve them was. That poll question didn’t mention Trump specifically, but a different YouGov poll, conducted for The Economist in early June, found that Americans believed 49 percent to 35 percent that Trump should face criminal charges for his handling of classified documents.”
