Still working on some issues but still afloat.

If you loved 1500+ threads at HHR, I hope you are not disappointed with this site. It is amazing how the number of comments dropped without a certain poster on board. Also, I know http://www.hhrphoenix.com just takes you to a Philadelphia skyline. I will get that fixed. For fun, if you know who is the statue on top of City Hall without googling, post it in the comments.

  5. Cash Cow asked Walt what he thought about how things were turning out in the U.S. in last few years. Walt thought for a few minutes, then took another drag on his cigar and here is what Walt said:
    ************************************************************************
“It seems we have gotten to an irreparable impasse where small town values, civility and sanity seem swamped by impersonal and imbecilic big city baloney such as sanctuary cities, safe zones, SSM-approving, isis-loving, illegal alien loving, America hating, flag-stomping, military-hating, police-phobic, God-scoffing, Christian-baiting, fossil fuel hating, anti-gun gooniness, glib globalists and global warming gobble-de-gook goofiness.”

“We have far too many petulant, pontificating, pointy headed, psycho babbling, punk-assed, Prius-driving, latte-drinking, arugula-farting, tofu-eating, taco-belching, thumb texting, transgendered, techno-geek, socialist-sucking, soccer-loving ignoramus libtards whose brains inhabit a fact-free fantasyland of make believe flim-flam poppycockism–such as men can menstruate and have babies and there are over a thousand (or some such number) of sexes, and who are so lacking in cranial capacity their pea sized brains think they are omni-presently oppressed, want guaranteed equal outcomes, deserve free college education and health care and a guaranteed ‘living wage’, are sucked in by such insanity as Black Lives Matter, reparations, a $20/hour minimum wage, and open borders and are mostly malicious masters of mundane mediocrity.”

“We have devolved into uncivilized tribes and tribalism. We can no longer have rational and civil conversations and discussions with those with differing opinions. Facts are out of vogue and are ignored in discussions and have been trumped in importance by, and have given way to, ‘feelings”. And quickly resorting to violence. Politically, members of the two tribes hate and despise the other side so much they default vote for THIER imbecile to keep the other tribe from electing THEIR idiot. Agency after federal agency has been politically weaponized and has ceased to operate as intended. Rule of law has ceased to be. So has common sense.”

“Everybody needs to get and stay off my lawn before I open up a can of whoop-ass on them.”

Yes, but a mouthful that provided an excellent, true summary how U.S. society has declined.

Several nights ago I was working late in Downtown San Diego. Heard gunshots a block away. An altercation at a nightspot continued outside and one person pulled out a gun and shot another guy several times. Amazingly the guy who was shot survived, and was able to provide info to the police. There is a police storefront nearby, so police were there within minutes. But suspect fled and no arrests yet.

A couple days ago a 20-year old was shot and killed outside the Downtown library in San Diego by a 20 year old, and a 24 year old was injured. They were trying to stop a 21 year old who stole a backpack, and who pulled out a gun and shot two of the group of people confronting him. San Diego, which formerly enjoyed a low crime rate is now being referred to as “Chicago by the Bay”.

Meanwhile porta potties are being placed Downtown on streets with homeless camps. Despite promises from mayor and city council no action is taking place to remove the camps.

  7. RDS last night in IOWA. On Article 2 authority. It will take a full 8 years. This is music to my ears.

“Biden has weaponized the power of the administrative state to advance his left wing agenda. We will reconstitutionalize the executive branch and we will bring this administrative state to heal once and for all. Now, this is not easy to do. And this power has accumulated over many, many decades. And it requires a disciplined, energetic president who will spit nails and fight the needed battles every single day over an eight year period. You can’t get cowed by the left. You can’t worry about what the media is going to say. You need to start cleaning house on day one.”

What was Trump doing on Truth Social last night…throwing his awesome former press secretary under the bus for no reason. It’s sickening.

At present the Russians are not moving forward on the ground anywhere in the Ukraine, and are being hit with Ukrainian drone strikes in many parts of Russia, including Moscow. Russia even had an invasion by an anti-Putin military force in the Belogrod region

Putin continues to hit Ukraine cities with missiles and drones. But many of the drones are supplied by Iran, which is now involved in an armed conflict with the Taliban. Iran may decide to stop exporting drones.

Former Florida GOP Congress member, now woke MSNBC commentator, David Jolly, believes DeSantis is more dangerous than Trump:

“I think Ron DeSantis is far more dangerous than Donald Trump for a very specific reason. Donald Trump is willing to ignore the rules, ignore the Constitution, and frankly lead to the incitement of January six. But Donald Trump is a transactional figure and he’ll do whatever it takes to win. Ron DeSantis I believe actually in his ethos, is a cultural warrior who wants to take us back 100 years and believes he can use the Constitution to that, to that end, and ultimately has a very dark vision of what America will be. So the idea of pardoning January six convicts, if you will, at this point is because he believes we are engaged in a real war, that he has to win. Ron DeSantis tonight, a very dark figure on the political landscape, far more dangerous than Donald Trump.”

A great reply comment in Newsweek to why Biden is so unpopular:

“Biden Has Had a Remarkable First Term. Why Is He So Unpopular, Even With Democrats?”

    Let me count the reasons;

The most devastating, unforced, military catastrophe in our lifetimes. Abandoning a hardened military base and ordering troops to a civilian air field, with only one runway, surrounded by an open septic system. Abandoning Americans behind enemy lines, getting 13 brave soldiers killed. Droning a civilian volunteer worker along with his ten children. Failure to notify our allies until the day of the withdrawal. Abandoning state department workers behind enemy lines.

Allowing his son to lead an extortion team that brought in over ten million dollars in exchange for access to the big guy.

Lying about his son’s laptop to the public.

Inviting illegal immigrants to surge the border. Having no infrastructure in place to provide shelter, medical care or housing.

Stopping military aid to Ukraine for five months while Putin prepared to invade.

Creating the worst inflation in twenty years.

    I’m sure I missed a few.”

“A store manager of a Ross Dress for Less clothing store in Denver, Colorado, says thieves target her store as many as three or four times a day, without confrontation.

CBS News Colorado visited the store and spoke with a concerned shopper who videotaped one recent incident where a group of thieves stormed through the store, filling bags with merchandise for several minutes before leaving the store. The witness was appalled by the incident.

I like the reference to DeSantis as “MAGA without the mess”. From Geoffrey Skelley:

“That high favorability rating could translate to future support for DeSantis, especially in combination with his election pitch, which is essentially “MAGA without the mess.” We can see this in Morning Consult’s Republican primary tracker: Although DeSantis has lost ground to Trump in first-choice support, about half of Trump voters listed DeSantis as their second choice in a poll conducted May 19-21, putting him miles ahead of former Vice President Mike Pence (14 percent). If Trump falters as the primary race plays out, DeSantis could be well-positioned to capitalize and gain ground in the polls.”

“A wave of looting has reportedly hit a border zone in Russia as Vladimir Putin’s authorities lose control of the Belgorod Oblast region.

Homes and local shops appeared to be targeted by Russian looters amid the chaos as tens of thousands of Russians evacuating border areas in the Belgorod region as pro-Ukraine forces hit back at Russia.

A video from the town of Readovka showed a building ablaze after a suspected strike. Ukraine’s military has not claimed responsibility for the attacks, or denied it was behind them.

Shelling has pounded the settlement for several days, forcing thousands of residents to flee villages near Russia’s southwestern border as shelling intensified.”

This tweet was “community corrected” with the actual law passed which is interesting.. I am pretty sure the law is constitutional.. RDS will be attacked by those behind him in the polls.. He has punched rather effectively I think.

“His campaign does not appear visionary.”

Nonsense! From a distance Christie really stands out compared to the other candidates.

  91. This is an example of how quickly these early primary polls can change. I would say Trumps poll numbers are softer then a 76 year old overweight man who only eats fast food and can’t get it up without the help of a little blue pill.

Free Russian forces still hold an area of Russia. A Polish volunteer group has joined them:

“The incursion in the Bilhorod region continues. It is now clear that Russia doesn’t have control over at least a couple of villages on the border while the insurgent forces make progress towards Shebekino. “

So, Russia invading Ukraine is sort of a twist on “The Mouse That Roared” book/movie or whatever? But in this case, the huge and powerful country that invades and expects to conquer the smaller one is instead brought to its knees by the little country that was invaded.

Quotes from a Ukrainian based discussion board. The determination of Ukrainians is amazing:

    @wartranslated
“Let’s be honest, this is not a position the attacking side wants to find itself in. You exhausted all your offensive potential, you’re bracing for an ever-increasing likelihood of a major defensive battle with forces very different from what you had at the peak, all while the enemy is making significant moves in your vulnerable underbelly at your pre-war borders.”

Things indeed seem so bad that I sometimes think they are giving up on purpose. Their channels are all just sharing each other’s statements about the “nazis”, it’s so much cope and zero substance, no clear military narrative. Prigozhin is the only one appearing in public but he’s hardly convincing or reassuring, just trolling.”

“I am almost of the belief that Ukraine is waiting on the counteroffensive to see what happens in the RU side. Ruzzians are imploding right now, all on their own.”

“In these current conditions, I don’t see any reason why Ukraine should attack now and not wait until F-16 delivery to maximise their strength. Russians are unable to do anything about this.”

  111. DeSantis on BlackRock in response to Larry Fink and ESG today…”So the issue with ESG is, one, the policies he wants to impose are bad policies. They want to kneecap domestic energy production. That’s bad for people’s pocketbooks because energy prices will be higher. It’s also bad for our national security because we will not be energy independent. But there’s also the larger issue of who the heck do these people think they are, that they govern our society? Nobody voted for him. And so our mantra in Florida is no economic or social transformation without representation. These are policies that could not win at the ballot box. And so they’re trying to do through corporate America what they can’t do in the electoral process. In Florida, we got rid of BlackRock in our state pension fund, $2 billion management. I took away because it conflicts with our NTSB stance, but I am not going to have this country governed by a bunch of jet setters going to Davos and hanging out at the World Economic Forum. That does not work for us. We’re going to make sure that we’re standing up for everyday Americans who are working hard and they need access to affordable energy and they need to be treated as individuals and not have to compete in the Woke Olympics just to get a job or just to get their kid in school.

This is music to my ears and hopefully yours.

  112. DeSantis on Disney and Haley the poser woman’s attack… How utterly bizarre. I mean, somebody does a campaign contribution you’re supposed to lay down for them. That’s not how I operate. People can support me or not support me. I call them as I see them. And if you’ve supported me, but you’re wrong, I’m going to do what’s right. Second of all, I did not give subsidy. They really Creek has been there for decades. You know that. That was there since the 1960s where they had their own government, had these massive subsidies. Yes, we unwound that and we ended their self-governing status, but it wasn’t anything that I gave for them. But I do think it’s interesting, all these other Republicans have basically sided with Disney on this. And also, I’m not suing them. They sued us. We’re going to win that lawsuit. Of course, we’re going to defend. But they’re siding with Disney. And at the end of the day, at the parent of three young kids, we are going to fight the sexualization of minors and children. We are going to fight anybody that’s trying to rob them of their innocence. And we are not going to compromise. Whether that’s standing up to a big £800 gorilla like Disney or anybody else, we’re going to stand with the children. And I think our voters want to see that because they understand raising kids nowadays is difficult. There’s a lot of people trying to impose an agenda on them, and they want somebody like me who’s going to stand there and offer protection. But I think there’s also the other issue of, you know, as Republicans, you can’t just be a lackey for corporate America. You’ve got to be willing to stand up for individual taxpayers. You’ve got to be willing to stand up for small business. So the days of Republicans just deferring to large corporations, I think, need to be over. Not all these other Republicans are willing to do that. But I think with me and what we’ve been able to do by fighting well, corporations and kneecapping ESG in Florida, we’re willing to stand up to these people because I think they’re trying to pursue an agenda that’s not in the best interests of our country.

This is a winning position the polling doesn’t lie and the media and establishment hate it.
