I was encouraged by DeSantis’s comments about the pending debt ceiling deal. He seems genuinely cognizant regarding the weakness this deal poses in addressing our fiscal problems.

US Congressman from New York, Jerry Nadler, said that he sees no reason to object to Ukraine’s use of American weapons on the territory of russia
“I don’t understand why russia believes that it is possible to conduct a military invasion on the territory of another state, while its territory must remain inviolable for retaliatory actions,” Nadler said.
The congressman said that he personally does not see a problem in the fact that Ukraine can use long-range weapons received from partners on the territory of russia.
“They are fighting for their lives, for their country, for democracy, for the restoration of peace… I think they should get everything they need for this,” he said.

Half in new poll support sending weapons to Ukraine

A new University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy and NORC poll, published Wednesday, found that 50 percent of respondents said they support the U.S. ongoing supply of weapons to Ukraine for its defense against Russia’s invading forces.
About a quarter of respondents said they are opposed to the ongoing U.S. supply lifeline to Ukraine, which has topped more than $37 billion in aid.

One drone flew close to one of Putin’s houses.
“On Tuesday, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak told Russian independent media that Kyiv had no connection to the aerial assault on Moscow, but added that “we are watching with pleasure — and we predict an increase in the number of attacks.”
Observers said the strikes were likely aimed at sowing fear ahead of Kyiv’s long-awaited counteroffensive.
“If the goal of the assault was to stress out the population, then Ukrainian drones appearing in the skies over Moscow have done enough,” prominent pro-war blogger Rybar wrote.
State Duma Deputy Alexander Khinshtein published a list of five sites where drones were apparently shot down, including the village of Razdory, which is several kilometers away from the elite suburb of Rublyovka where Putin has a residence. “

Trump NEVER learns or really doesn’t care. Probably the later.
Trump “therapist” @maggieNYT reported that Trump would call @RonDeSantis “fat”, “phony”, and “whiny” in his private conversations before the 2024 primary.
Trump also reportedly vents about DeSantis constantly and calls him “overrated, disloyal, and a know-nothing”.
Keep in mind that Trump has said more nice things about Democrats and dictators than DeSantis in recent months, all while DeSantis has defended him publicly on political persecution and refused to launch personal attacks against the former President.

The McCarthy/Biden debt ceiling compromise is showing more flaws as more is being revealed. Many people are saying if passed the bill would do little to take us off the road to bankruptcy. In fact it merely suspends the debt ceiling for two years, making it possible to immunize the debt ceiling from any spending sprees until 1/2025. The real bill addressing our financial problems is the one originally passed by the House, not this one which was diluted to the point of being a nothingburger.

If you mean DeSantis and Trump forming a super ticket – I think besides residing in the same state, they have become too strong of enemies to suddenly forget-and-forgive and join forces together under one ticket.

I hope more people will be able to relocate their comments to Bitter’s site. I find, once you get used to it the advantages outweigh any disadvantages. I especially like that responses can be directly posted under the comments rather than streaming randomly below them.

Trump is about as toxic to be that closely associated with as anything I have ever seen in politics and their leadership styles are about as different as can be.
Trump is going to indicted soon anyway. The polls won’t really mean anything until lasts summer early fall imo.
