  11. GF – Welcome. I don’t plan on banning anybody. Of course, the option remains on the table for extreme posts that are vulgar. I do plan on posting. We’ll see how it goes.

  14. Bitterlaw,

Those “Anonymous” posts @ 1:52 and 1:54 were me. I posted those messages without logging in and the posts appeared as “Anonymous”. I’ll make sure to login first going forward.

  15. Bitterlaw,

OK, now I am a bit confused. I am logged in and my post appeared as “Anonymous” again.
I’ll just have to fill in the blanks below this reply, even though I am already logged in.

  17. I appreciate the feedback. It would have been easier if Dave kept HHR going but here we are. I am still learning the posting system. At some point I will post polls but feel free to post any you find.

  18. Understood. How do I create an account or log on? The browser remembers my details so I don’t have to fill them in each time, but I thought I recall reading that there would be some kind of account creation/log in to help filter. Perhaps I misread. Thanks!

  19. Hi Bitter,

I am fighting with Tgca on the other Hedgehog about the Marine on the NY subway.

Bitter, you may be right on the marine using excessive force. But want to learn the full story before coming to a conclusion. If the guy had attacked some of the passengers prior to being restrained, or was threatening to hurt or kill people while being restrained, things may be different. Also there is the issue of did he have a knife or another potential weapon. A lot more facts need to come out.

Some years ago, I actually had to help detain a crazy homeless person –myself and two bagger boys from a supermarket. We were holding the guy down, but he was big, drugged out, and screaming. I am good seized, an one of the bagger boys knew self-defense, and tripped him whenever he tried to get up. Meanwhile I was screaming at the security guard, who was just standing nearby, that this was a 9-11 call, and so get off the regular police line that had him on hold.

The point to the above story is a situation like the marine was in was likely chaotic, and he was doing his best to protect other passengers. Now he is going to get nitpicked on his conduct that may have prevented another passenger being seriously hurt.

  23. SDC – If he was actually defending somebody, he was probably justified. I should also wait for details and sworn testimony (not unsworn statements to news outlets) before judging the case.
