BRIDGE UPDATE FROM MONDAY
One woman bridge player suffered two broken ribs, a broken toe and various small cuts to both knees as well as bruising.
No, Walt did not go off on the gal who foolishly makes the decision to Trump her partner ‘s good tricks…
The injuries happened during lunch. She got up to go to the kitchen to get spoons and suddenly and without a word fell hard like a ton of bricks. She lay motionless and silently on the floor as we rushed to help.
The last time I witnessed someone falling like that was 20 years ago at church. Man carrying a huge cake had a heart attack or stroke and went down heard. I gave CPR and mouth to mouth and chest compressions until EMS arrived. But they think the elderly man was probably dead before he hit the floor.
Anyway, at bridge, the lady is laying motionless and we attend, she is breathing and talking. She had tripped on edge of the rug. No problem breathing, and no apparent broken bones, had NOT hit her head on hardwood floor, did not break her glasses.
Said her side hurt and one toe as well. Is on blood thinners and had cuts on both knees.
BACKGROUND ON WOMAN who fell at bridge, I will call her B.W…. sweet lady, taught with my wife, excellent teacher. 20 some years ago in very rural area of WV B.W. was passenger in car when totally sober driver of car she was in ran stop sign and collided with another car killing the driver and several people in the other car.
B.W. was very critically injured. About 20 broken bones, including legs, collarbone, ribs, and both kneecaps. Internal organ damage, including spleen…
Some brain damage. Miracle that she lived. Many operations and many, many, many months of rehab and physical therapy.. She amazingly recovered, but has long term memory issues.
We were all concerned about her fall at lunch on Monday doing something to her car accident related medical repairs.
She insisted she wanted to stay and play more rounds of bridge and we played one round of six hands with her foot propped up with ice bag on it. We said then let’s just quit for the day and B.W. could go home. At 6 p.m. her husband did take her to ER where they discovered two broken ribs and 1 broken toe.

I didn’t see the interview today on The View with guest speaker J.D. Vance, but from what I’ve read Vice President Vance’s lunch was handed to him. He was completely outsmarted and thoroughly embarrassed by a six women tag team that was not friendly to him.
He could have been a little more prepared to the ambush and trap most people saw coming.
