When the land gets redistributed to the indigenous people I expect to get most of Bittersville on account of the Spanish conquest of the Incas. I know the Incas were not native to Bittersville but I am sure the Democrats will not discriminate against me like that.
Why the Dems blowing all that money in the Virginia Redistricting referendum is a big deal….here is a quote pulled from redstate:
“The national [Democratic] party reported $22.1 million cash on hand with $18.4 million in debt at the end of March, according to its most recent federal filing. The Republican National Committee, by contrast, reported $116.8 million in the bank with zero debt.”
Of course this doesn’t account for all the dark money that flows for Dems, but the VA supreme court tossing out that Dem 10-1 map was truly a four-six-three double play. They didn’t get the free seats, and they lost all that they spent on it.
it is free Bitter, but it is also more intense in the deeper blue parts of our country where the congressional districts are going to be 90% Dem as they always have, regardless the hate.
Trump hate doesn’t get anyone two votes, just because they hate him twice as much as two years ago.
I have recently been encouraged looking at the polling of individual house races. There is a path for the GOP to maintain control. At this time I would probably give the Dems a slight edge, but there is also a path for the GOP to do better than current polling shows.
I encourage anyone to click on the 2026 House Forecast link above and scroll through the list. If I have misjudged any seat, I would gladly review it again and update it if needed. But right now, the grid I show is little different from 270 to win, Cook, Sabato, or Gonzales.
Keep an eye on CA-48. It was Issa’s seat, but he retired and all the forecasts have it lean or tilt D. Its not an overwhelmingly Dem district. But its one of those that the Dems hope to flip this fall with their gerrymander there. But here is the thing. In the primary there are TWO Republicans running and eight Dems running, and most of them have money. It is entirely possible the Dems could get shut out with the two Republicans advancing to the general.

it would be a HUGE boost to GOP chances if the pull off the top two finishers in CA-48 in a couple of weeks. It automatically would move a Lean D to a Safe R.

Incumbent Senator Bill Cassidy will lose the Louisiana Republican primary, he becomes the 1st elected senator since Richard Lugar in 2012 to lose his seat in a primary
I saw Cassidy’s concession speech. Sour grapes, failed to rise to the occasion.
He is a sitting senator, he got 24% of the R vote. Massive rejection.
What he should have said was the people have spoken, I respect their decision, I congratulate those that made the runoff and I will support the winner.
Instead he whined about Trump while saying loser should not whine or say the election was stolen.
I don’t fault him for not being a rubber stamp for Trump. But evidently the R base in LA wants a rubber stamp for Trump.
What is even funnier is that Tina who supports an ex-KGB communist thug and dictator like Putin would have something to say an (imaginary) supporter of the Labour PM.
I hope the GOP holds that Senate seat. The problem with MAGA is that it is based solely on Trump but not on ideas or conservatism. When Trump leaves the stage, there is nothing to rally around. 2028 will be another referendum on Trump. By 2032, Trump will be as relevant as William McKinley.
its one thing to not be a rubber stamp, but it’s another thing to say it’s true that Trump incited the actions of Jan 6. He did not, and the people who entered the capitol building are responsible for their choices, not Trump
But you are right. MAGA is not based on any conservative principles. While Trump has managed to forge a working class-rural vote coalition, it would need some core values to sustain it beyond the Trump Cult.
Yeah, closer to six years ago. Cassidy had just been elected and thought that he could vote to convict and that the vote would be long forgotten by the time he was up for reelection. Uh, nope. A real miscalculation, but people who live in the DC bubble tend to lose their perspective and want to look good to the MSM……especially Republicans. Never throw your base over the cliff for a few pats on the back from the liberal establishment. The pats will be fleeting, and the folks back home are the actual voters.
A thought on Cassidy’s defeat. Donald Trump’s philosophy of practicing politics is simple: “If you hit me, I’ll hit you back 10 times harder.” This is his way of imposing discipline so he can get things done. Many Republicans mistake this for childish petulance. The ironic thing is that when these oh-so-high-minded Republicans (Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger, Thom Tillis, etc.) get their comeuppance, they are the ones who react with truly childish petulance. They are the ones willing to frustrate the advancement of the conservative agenda that they once claimed to support, simply because they didn’t get their way. For all his supposed faults, Trump constantly tries to advance the agenda he has been pushing since before he was elected. His Republican detractors, not so much.
That’s the one thing I can say about the Democrats. They don’t throw their base overboard. Ever. Cassidy pissed all over his base. Voters don’t like to be pissed on. Duh
Tina, I saw that interview with Cassidy on Fox yesterday. He completely dodged questions. Especially loved when Chaffetz just shook his head in disbelief.

It irritates me when PGA players whine about the conditions of the course, the rough, the pin placement, etc.
The only valid complaint, and that is the luck of the draw, is that sometimes you have an advantage by playing at a certain time of the day.
Otherwise, those other factors are the same for everyone, sorry, prima donnas.
