Jesse Jackson has passed away. I still remember him being one of the most pro-life people in America (1970’s) writing for National Right To Life and saying that life begins at conception and that abortion was a tool of population control.
Then came his presidential bids in middle and late 1980’s where he converted to being pro-choice.

I don’t buy the Beccera poll, not b/c I don’t think Bianco and Hilton couldn’t be in the lead, but every other recent survey has shown Hillton fluctuating around 17%. Assuming that the GOP vote concentrates on the two better known names (no guarantee, but more likely this time with two reasonably known candidates vice a minor name with a bunch of some dudes getting the rest), Bianco and Hilton should total around 35-37%, with the smorgasboard of Dems garnering b/t 55-58%. With the redistricting prop out of the way, there isn’t a huge draw for every single TDS Karen and Daren to come out (though most will), and that helps the GOP.

Mobile makes a big deal that they started Mardi Gras, but this “party” is nowhere near what I’ve seen footage of from New Orleans. The fact that I could get a table for six on my own at the main bar on the main drag tells you all you need to know, even if I did wait until 8PM to venture into town.

Son and I closed a deal for a 2025 VW Jetta SE this evening in Frederick MD at a VW dealership. About $1000 more than the “deal” from Hertz used car sales that fell through.
Thank God this ordeal is over.
We filled out all paperwork and will go back Thursday to pick it up and pay for it.
Son desperately wanted a sunroof and got one with it. I told him “that adds $1,500 more dollars in cost for it, plus another $60 in WV sales tax.” I would have settled on same car without sunroof…but HE is the one who will be paying the monthly loan payments.
More tomorrow….after wife and I deliver Meals on Wheels–so I will catch you all here tomorrow afternoon.

Our family loves VWs. Our son has a 2012 Jetta which has served him well. We have what is now a “classic”. – a 1990 Vanogan. Originally we used the van for camping. Now it’s a work vehicle. However, my husband frequently gets offers to buy it because of how well a surfboard fits in the back.

Do meals on wheels deliveries…
Wife and I have a good lunch…
I go to get insurance vin # swap out…
Then take that to bank to give them–plus ask about increasing loan from $9,-000 to $9,813 and get that sorta approved…
Then get a certified check out of our checking acct for $9,999.45.
Then go pay water and sewer bill…
The pick up prescription I have been waiting for for 10 days…
Tomorrow, son and I will go to bank sign papers, pick up the other certified check and go to Frederick MD to get the 2025 Jetta SE.

My first new vehicle was a 1968 tan VW beetle. ($1,900)
a year later I ran through a fence and over a bank in rainy, slippery road conditions and did $750 worth of damage to it. I was leaving in a week or so for Europe, so I traded the damaged Bug in for a 1970 blue VW beetle ($2,000). Paid cash for the difference except for a couple hundred loan I needed from my local bank. I asked my dad to pay the 1 month loan back since I would be in Europe and paid him back when I returned or authorized mim to take money from my checking acct once my last teacher paycheck was deposited.
Had that car for 24 or so years, and then sold it for $380. (it was not running when I sold it and the guy came with his vehicle and towed if off with a large chain attached.

Bergton VA is a little community just across the WV/VA line and close to Mathias WV where my wife grew up on her family farm. We went just about every year to the annual Bergton FAir. My mother in law won MANT blue ribbons for the produce she entered in the fair competition. Our two boys always looked forward to the Bergton Fair. It certainly IS an experience. These people have identical values to heir WV kin just across the border to the north in WV. Lots of folks on both sides were related.
The song is GREAT. Not too many months ago, the area was hit by big forest fires that spawned a number of miles in both VA and WV that was pretty devastating.
I think I now have some dust in my eyes…

Concerning ASH Wednesday, some protestants were SYCAMORE Catholic-like services such as ASH Wednesday. They would rather go to the BEECH. Other people think that if you do not participate in ASH Wednesday, it MAPLE you away from your Christian teachings. I think ASH Wednesday is OAK-ay. If you do not like it you can SUE, MACK! (sumac)

I think the trend is much more important than the absolute numbers If they all show a downward trend albeit with different numbers you shouldn’t take much comfort in the higher number.
Conversely, if they generally show an upward trend, as Trump is showing now, the Dems and TDS morons shouldn’t take much solace in the lower number.
