About 231,000 men total served in the Continental Army, not all at the same time of course. Of those, approximately 4k to 8k were Black according to best estimates, so about 2% to 4%.
So unless these blacks were superhumans common sense says their contribution to the Revolutionary War is commensurate to their participation in it.
But as Walt pointed out, the revisionist “historians” now are making documentaries “full of blacks and Indians” in order to pursue the woke agenda you see everywhere in leftist sources now, that whites did not “build America, it was built on slavery”.
THIS is what I would call a “narrow” interpretation of History.

What is wrong is to hold them to a standard different from what existed in their time, or to pick the most unfavorable aspect of their lives in order to deny their contributions/accomplishments.
We could say Obama was a homophobe only 20 years ago when he ran on a “marriage is between a man and a woman” platform. Today nobody running on that could survive a Dem primary.

BREAKING (TRUE STORY)
In WV Hancock county (Northern panhandle between OH and PA) school system has about a $8 MILLION deficit right now.
They have 143 employees over the allotted state school funding formula., and have been way over the limit for several years. The state only provides funding for those within the school said formula. I would guess they have a total iof about 700 employees (tops).
NOW, they are completely BROKE and cannot make payroll next month.
The CFO/treasurer has been fired and replaced. The State also took over running the schools and have fired both the Superintendent and the asst.super.
All the other 54 counties converted to WVEIS computer system to report all rdata, financial, student, etc, to the state, ten years or more ago. Hancock Co, is the ONLY county that simply chose not to comply and do that and they have their own computer system for records and data.
An emergency bill has been passed by the WV House of Delegates to provide $8Million in emergency funds for such situations. It is a loan and the county must repay the state for any money used.
Problem is the county already has all these employees under contract until June.
Another problem is that that county will be paying back the state for decades.
NO, there are no Somalis working in or managing Hancock Co schools.

When MLK Day was first proposed, I opposed it. Not because he did not deserve the honor but because I did not want another Federal holiday. I was wrong. MLK was not perfect personally and I do not like his opposition to the Vietnam War, but he was brave to stand up and say GFY peacefully to those opposed to civil rights.
