Sad news about Doug LaMalfa. He was one of the good ones.
Just out this morning, the latest Services PMI, which fell to a lower than expected 52.5 from last month’s 54.1. Here are a couple of quotes from the summary I saw:
“New business growth dropped to its lowest in 20 months, with panelists noting higher uncertainty in market demand and lower consumer spending, citing tariffs as a key source of instability.”
“Meanwhile, input price inflation rose to a seven-month high due to tariffs and broad increases in supplier charges, magnifying the increase in labor expenses.”

125 attorneys in SDNY — out of maybe 500? — and 400 across DOJ, the ranks of which are already reduced by resignations and terminations it is working hard to fill, are now spending much of their time reviewing nearly 2 million separate documents as part of the “Epstein File” for purposes of releasing them. This process will take months if not years.
There simply aren’t enough sets of eyes to comply with Massie’s stupid bill. This could have been explained to anyone who took the time to inquire. Each document has to be read individually, redacted if necessary, and then reviewed to make sure the redactions conform to the statute and orders of the Court re victim privacy interests.
Those complaining about the “deadline” having passed can continue all you want — there is not alternative process that is going to get it done faster. But you have accomplished one goal of the Democrats — about 5% of all DOJ attorneys are tied up doing something other than advancing Pres. Trump’s policies.

Re: The USA’s gift to the people of Venezuela.
I flew back into Miami international airport Monday night. As usual, there was an accident on the main highway (836) so my driver got me home taking a local route. On the drive, I was surprised to see so many people waving Venezuelan flags and holding up signs celebrating Maduro’s capture. I didn’t realize how many Venezuelan’s were down here However, what really stuck out was that about 1/3 of the signs, written mostly in Spanish, were thanking Trump specifically. Contrary to what I’ve been watching on CNN, this is not an unpopular move, at least down here. To the extent these people vote, this is a good thing.

Bitter, tell your dumbass friend to do a quick search for the numerous and material amounts of tariffs that are still in effect, lasting more than “a few days” –
Last reported full month of tariff revenue was almost $30 billion, for a total of $246 billion collected to date. Tariffs in effect as of late 2025 include a 50% rate on steel, aluminum, and copper under Section 232 of the 1962 Trade Expansion Act, as well as a 25% tariff on imported automobiles from most countries and specific per country tariffs. Although the so-called “Liberation Day” tariffs—some as high as 50%—were partially rolled back, to an average effective tariff rate remained around 14–16% for each country by December 2025 due to negotiated trade deals and exemptions for certain goods like semiconductors and food products.

This happened all across the board, not just for Brazil.
“U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday removed his 40% tariffs on Brazilian food products, including beef, coffee, cocoa and fruits that were imposed in July to punish Brazil over the prosecution of its former president, Trump ally Jair Bolsonaro.
The move follows a similar order by the administration last Friday to remove tariffs on several agricultural products from other countries as the White House makes a U-turn on some tariffs that have increased the cost of food in the United States.
The order will affect Brazilian imports to the U.S. on or after November 13 and may require a refund of the duties collected on those goods while the tariffs were still being charged, according to the text of the order released by the White House.
Brazil normally supplies a third of the coffee used in the United States, the world’s largest coffee drinker, and has more recently become an important supplier of beef, particularly the type that is used to make burgers.
U.S. retail coffee prices rose as much as 40% this year due to the tariffs and other market factors such as weather-induced production shortfalls.”
