Schumer Shutdown, Day 37

“And that’s the way it is, November 7, 2025, the 37th day of captivity for the American government by Chuck Schumer.”

  2. The Dems sued Trump and the administration to restore SNAP benefits before the election to generate a wonderful optic and narrative that Trump and the republicans are fighting in Court to remove lower income SNAP benefits. I don’t understand why Trump and the republicans aren’t using the same tactic and diverting any funds available, from any Democrat loving agency, to pay air traffic controllers and our military. Let the Dems go to Court and sue to stop it. We can then have that wonderful optic/narrative of the Dems fighting to shutdown airports and our military.  Why can’t our side fight like Democrats?

  3. Now that I have had several days to process the election results, here are my thoughts:

    (1) Charlie Kirk is dead and so is his legacy and his influence. Remember just a few months ago there was going to be this sleeping giant awakened? The huge funeral? It all amounted to nothing. It reminds me of leaders during the Reformation who were better thinkers and better speakers than Luther, but their names are forgotten to most people because their lives were snuffed out. Luther lived, so he gets much of the credit for the Reformation. By next year’s election, Kirk will be even further in the rear view mirror. It pains me to say it, but the left won. They killed Kirk and they have effectively stopped his influence.

    (2) Trump hate is not only real, its effective. And its not going anywhere. Trump could solve every problem known to man, and he will never get positive job approval in any media or university poll. This is going to be a huge issue in the election next year.

    (3) Trump needs to do a better job winning the war of information. This may sound weird, but I am about to compare Trump to George H. W. Bush. Bush thought he didn’t need to worry about selling his achievements to voters. He looked at his watch during the debate, signaling that he had more important things to attend to. He lost badly. Trump isn’t running for re-election but he has to know that if he loses congress next year he will face yet another impeachment and get nothing done his final two years. He needs to tackle the communication and information war with the same vigor he is tackling other problems.

    (4) MAGA voters, many of them, are really MTGA voters. Make Trump Great Again. If they really wanted to make AMERICA great again, they would show up to vote every single time.

    (5) The left hates you more than you hate the left. And that’s good for you, because you shouldn’t be filled with hate. But this is eye-opening and we need to figure out how to deal with the hatred of the left. This is now beyond the battle for ideas. It’s a battle for sanity. It’s a battle for the survival of our country and more broadly a battle for western civilization. We are fighting against people who think its okay to let men into girls bathrooms. Who thinks YOU are a terrible person for resisting the practice of tricking little boys into thinking they can be made into girls so they can be rushed into surgery to have their privates cut off, forever sterilizing them and putting them on a path toward suicide.

    (6) While it is true that VA and NJ are blue states, they are not as blue as the results showed on Tuesday. The rising of Mamdani, AOC, Sanders, and all their Socialist and Communist ilk is real. It appears to be taking over the Democratic Party right in front of our eyes. Some pundits think this will help us, as a divided party cannot stand. But I disagree. Sure, they might chase away a Fetterman or two, but make no mistake, this is now the party of AOC and Mamdani. And now with Kirk gone, there are no dissenting voices on college campuses meaning young people will drink deeply from the fountain of communist ideas and demand we go there.

    (7) Sorry to sound so pessimistic about 2026 and then 2028, but this is where we are. I don’t know what the answers should be, but these are the problems we face. GOP leaders and Trump better figure it out quickly.

They are the most selfish generation ever in our country, and they don’t care what happens to the country after they are gone. Its all about them. So they will be eager to have complete care of the socialism safety net, and if the country implodes after they are gone, who cares?

So the coalition of OWLS and college students pushing the Dems into the new AOC/Mamdani party is too great for the Fettermans to resist.

  28. Bitter’s article about the Maine councillor is alarming, but not surprising given the direction the Dems gone as a party. It says she has “no affiliation” but then goes on to say that she was endorsed by progressive organizations. Further, she is apparently of Native American descent, and the murder was prompted by a slur thrown her way by the victim. In modern Democrat eyes, that justifies the killing and demands that she be rewarded by the general public.

That’s the reason I’m not a Republican anymore nor MAGA. Any little bump in the road and the end of the world, or at least, western civilization, is at hand. The recent burp by American voters in all blue areas prompted by the shutdown have some diving in the nearest fox holes.

Hal Lindsey, whom died last year at this time, could have re-written ‘The Late Great Planet Earth’ from 55 years ago if still alive.

I personally believe a two party democracy is healthy for America, not just pushing a one sided view and then push the panic button if some results don’t go their way.

  32. HOW TO GET POWER

    (Dems doing this very well)

[your REAL purpose is to make the government–that you will control–more powerful]

FIRST, develop a winning “public” message: “Stop Trump, tax the billionaires, make insurance, housing and food cheap”

SECOND, select and target your audience. The Independents, the easily swayed low info voters, the “me generation” who wants are all important, the “instant” generation” who want immediate gratification, women (easy to use the abortion issue to paint Rs as hating women), minorities (easy to do since hateful Rs want to stop illegal immigration and for Blacks we know how easy it is for them to be triggered to have riots in 50 cities that do $40BB in damage over George Floyd dying while in police custody–so therefore the R people who want to be tough on crime are racists), the younger people who are fairly illiterate in geography (40% cannot name 10 states), economics (do not understand supply and demand), history (30% cannot tell you who U.S. got our independence from), science (80% think there are way more than 2 sexes), government (30% cannot name the 3 branches of government, do not know what the filibuster is, and cannot tell you the purpose of the census, do not understand how founding fathers set up government system to prevent “minority rule and minority subjugation”), philosophy or religion. [Yes, you CAN get LBGTQ to come out to join street protests to support the Palestinians and radical Muslim countries who outlaw LBGTQism and even legally put those people to death. Yes, you CAN get lots of women to join street protests to support radical Muslim countries that treat women horribly and force them to wear burkhas. Yes, you CAN convince tons of people to violate the law if you convince them the law is “unfair”. Yes you CAN convince 80% of your D people to hold the view that it is OK to use violence against your opponent or with people you disagree.]

THIRD, Purposefully use EMOTION and FEAR to reach and motivate these people. These are the people who believe that man made global warming is the biggest threat to mankind, that the air and water we have today are less safe than they were 30 years ago, that you have a constitutional right to be any sex you want to be on whatever day you want. Always tell voters (the key untruths) that “Rs want to end Social Security, return America to the time of slavery, keep women as second class citizens, Rs will get you into costly wars, etc.”

FOURTH,  control the message. Easy to do because the MSM is so lopsidedly liberal and sympathetic to liberal causes. And the other side is divided between real Rs, and Trump Rs and libertarians, and sovereign citizens, etc., etc.

FIFTH, win the money war in messaging and political campaigns. 90% of billionaires are liberal and donate heavily to liberal causes. Democrats usually get more money and outspend Rs in national and state elections. VA legislative races this year is a PRIME example. Same was true when I was running for office in WV 2002 thru 2016. Same is true about anywhere and has been for a number of decades.

SIXTH, relax voting laws, have states send mail-in ballots to every voter, allow illegal aliens to get on voting rolls, have liberals control the provisional ballot process and ignore state statues, laws, provisions and rules that were violated by those sending in mail-in ballots.

Forget the fact of his long criminal record (including violence), the fact that he resisted, the fact that he had swallowed large quantity of drugs to get rid of evidence just before being arrested (the one autopsy said that was the cause of death), the fact that no officer had a knee on his neck)

    The Maine Wire

“Our reporter Jon Fetherston visited seven polling locations across Southern Maine yesterday. In the following editorial, he describes why he walked away feeling both encouraged and deeply concerned about Maine’s elections:

    ———

Election Day Reflections — Democracy, Integrity, and Double Standards at the Polls

As a self-described political nerd, Election Day has always been my Super Bowl. I’ve served in many local elected positions, worked as a registrar, and held commissions as a Notary Public and Justice of the Peace. Few things give me more satisfaction than seeing democracy in action — citizens engaged, poll workers organized, and the quiet hum of civic participation filling school gymnasiums and city halls across Maine.

Today, I visited seven polling locations across southern Maine — Biddeford, Saco, Scarborough, South Portland, and Portland — to see how the process was running firsthand. I came away both encouraged and deeply concerned.

A Smooth, Civic Spirit at the Polls

Every polling location I visited was efficient, well-run, and staffed by friendly clerks and poll workers who knew their numbers and procedures. Biddeford’s operation even featured a food drive organized by opposing candidates — a refreshing example of local democracy at its best. Voter turnout was steady, even brisk in some areas. Portland was particularly busy, driven by the ballot question proposing a $19 minimum wage.

Voters I spoke with were divided on Question 1, but more hesitant to discuss Question 2 — perhaps a sign of how complex and personal these ballot measures have become. Still, it was heartening to see strong participation in a non-presidential election year.

    Political Signs and Troubling Precedents

However, I was disturbed by what I saw inside and in some cases within sight of — several polling places. In six of the seven locations, I noticed “Stop Trump” signs displayed prominently on Maine People’s Alliance exit polling tables.

I asked volunteers at each site how they expected to collect unbiased exit polling data while displaying partisan signage. In Saco, one worker responded, “Shenna Bellows says it’s okay.”

That would be the same Shenna Bellows — Maine’s Secretary of State — who attempted to remove Donald Trump from the ballot, who has yet to investigate the 250 absentee ballots found in an Amazon package, and who refuses to answer my press inquiries or return calls. The same Shenna Bellows who ran from me at the No Kings Rally in South Portland when I asked her why she fired UPS. The same Shenna Bellows who promised to find the ‘bad actors” but doesn’t appear she even tried.

When I saw a Planned Parenthood table visible to voters in Saco, I called the city clerk and left a message, then reached out to the City Manager. I got a very friendly person who answered the phone. To her credit, she acknowledged “multiple complaints” had been received and assured me a follow-up call would come — and it did. The city’s interim communications director suggested I call the Secretary of State’s Office directly.

When I did, a helpful staffer emailed me the recent legislative change allowing campaign activity at polling sites for people or issues not on the ballot. In other words, political messaging inside or near voting areas is now permissible — if it doesn’t relate directly to a candidate or question being voted on that day.

That’s a remarkable shift. It also opens the door for manipulation. If “Stop Trump” signs are allowed today, will “Stop Mills” or “Stop Platner” or Stop Bellows for Governor signs be allowed inside polling places next year? Somehow, I doubt it.

    The Unequal Application of Rules

In South Portland, I again raised the issue with a poll clerk. She confirmed that “Shenna Bellows says it’s okay.” When I asked if I could wear a MAGA hat inside, the answer was a firm “No.” The double standard couldn’t be clearer.

By the time I reached Portland — the busiest polling site I visited — I saw yet another “Stop Trump” sign. The Maine People’s Alliance clearly had its act together. Credit to their organization and commitment. But their coordinated presence, paired with permissive oversight, should raise serious questions about impartiality and fairness.”
