DW, that’s a bad sign if the D internal can only get a tied race. I saw a comment that Jones may now be at his ceiling. We’ll see, but I’m starting to gain hope that VA will not be a total disappointment.

I would say probably 40% of PA voters will go into the voting booth completely unprepared for the retention question and not knowing what it means to vote yes or no.
I think that helps the Yes vote, unfortunately.

From what I have read about the Comey indictment, the problem is the fact the (purported) star witness for the prosecution is in fact Comey’s friend and will be a hostile witness. He will probably say he divulged the information on his own and not at Comey’s bequest. Don’t expect McCabe to do anything but cover for Comey too.
If that is the crux of the case then I think it a weak case. But there must be more to it. That
And of course there is an important question to ask. Why did Comey share the information if he didn’t expect it to be released.

Stupid. I can’t believe most people in NJ want that system.
Of course, here in PA, we have government run liquor stores.

Nola did more than escape, he’s doing just fine.
Yanks are down 1-4 going into the 9th. Jays still have their at bats, so they’ll likely clinch that tonight and face a worn out Seattle or Detroit team that had to go the full five (credit to the Tigers today for the big comeback and subsequent stomping).

Should have left Nola in, there was no need to switch pitchers this early. Bad as the bunt call.

Nice recovery by Suarez, didn’t let Erdman’s solo run faze him at all.
I’ve been to newer stadiums, and tbh, aside from a few nicer eateries, I havenot noticed a difference in comfort for the fans. Seats are the same, the field is fine, and we already uprooted tons of indigents out of Chaven Ravine to build the first park, and I can’t imagine a better location for an alternative stadium (yes, for me, the west side might out by Santa Monica might be more convenient, but there isn’t any available real estate).

On the plus side, Yanks are one out away from defeat while being down 3.

Fair question; b/c this is make or break for Philly, even though Suarez is doing well, should he keep going in the 7th?
Then again, he baited Rojas with a nice change up for a first out, so there’s that.

Suarez should pitch again. Unless he shouldn’t. Tough decision. Duran has been good but not sure about 2 innings from him. The problem is that Strahm, Kerkering, or Banks could get 3 outs or give up 3 runs.

Good thing is that I have to be up at 0630, and 8-1 in the 8th is a good call for me to retire a half hour early or better. I once saw LA score 7 runs in the bottom of the 9th – against the Phillies, no less – but I don’t expect that tonight. Like I said, there’s always tomorrow. Good night, all!

The more I dissect the bunt call in game 2, the more absurd it seems to me. The tying run is on second. You HAVE to get that run home. I know they wanted to hold the pinch runner for hobbled batter who would have brought that run home, but you get a different pinch runner for him if it’s needed. Put a fast running pitcher out there to run…anybody. But statistically, you have to press every angle to get that tying run home. The fastest pinch runner should have been put on second.
So many reasons why that would have been the right call. The fast runner on second with 0 outs means the ground ball to the right side of the infield…if it gets through, its a tie game. If it doesn’t then the runner is on 3rd with one out setting up lots of ways to tie the game.
And then the sacrifice bunt. You might entertain that to get the winning run to third with nobody out, but not the tying run. When you haven’t tied the game, outs are your enemy. They are costly. And certainly you wouldn’t try that play without putting the pinch runner on second instead of the slow footed player who was thrown out at third.
Given the situation, its even common for a team in the Dodgers’ position to walk the batter to setup runners on first and second with nobody out, just to get a chance at a double-play and have a force out at any base, if they have a groundball inducing pitcher on the mound, and depending on the batter.
In short, the call for the bunt was highly suspect, but without the pinch runner it was idiotic. Statistically, its better to have three batters swinging away to try and tie the game rather than only two because you gave away an out to gain only 1 base.
