“Volodymyr Zelensky told European leaders that they must reject any settlement proposed by Donald Trump which sees them giving up Ukrainian land they still hold – but that Ukrainian territory in Russia’s control could be on the table

    Steven Sund:

Ma’am, it is long past time to be honest with the American people. On January 3, I requested National Guard assistance, but your Sergeant at Arms denied it. Under federal law (2 U.S.C. §1970), I was prohibited from calling them in without specific approval. That same day, Carol Corbin at the Pentagon offered National Guard support, but I was forced to decline because I lacked the legal authority.

On January 6, while the Capitol was under attack and despite my repeated calls, your Sergeant at Arms again denied my urgent requests for over 70 agonizing minutes, “running it up the chain” for your approval.

When I needed assistance, it was denied. Yet when it suited you, you ordered fencing topped with concertina wire and surrounded the Capitol with thousands of armed National Guard troops

Good news for consumers: While July inflation held steady at 2.7% year-over-year, the near-term trend is even better with the 3-month annualized change down to just 2.3%. Most importantly — there is no demonstrable negative impact from tariffs. Goods prices, excluding food and energy, are up even less since tariffs were first implemented, rising only 0.8% annualized.

  14. I’ve been an “outlier” around here in following the plight of J6ers, supporting them in voicing the many injustices endured by them under the DC court and prison systems. The following is a case in point:

“ A proud U.S. Marine Corps veteran and January 6 political prisoner, Barton “Bart” Shively, passed away on June 22, 2025, after a brutal battle with Stage 4 lymphoma. In life, Bart endured the unthinkable: he was thrown into the Biden regime’s DC jail (“Gulag”) despite his cancer diagnosis, and was denied proper medical care for months.

“It took four months to get my cancer treatment started… I did chemo in the DC Gulag… I’d never been in jail before… I was so sick I could hardly stand up,” Bart recounted of the nightmare he lived through.

During radiation treatments, prison staff effectively “fried him from the inside out,” leaving Bart bleeding and in agony in his cement cell. His once-strong 58-year-old body was literally “cooked alive” by barbaric prison medical neglect, as fellow inmates described it, yet Bart’s spirit remained unbroken.

By the time a judge finally released him – belatedly admitting she “didn’t want his death on her hands” – Bart had lost everything. He returned home in August 2023 as a free man, but homeless and penniless, having sacrificed all in service to his country and then suffering government persecution.”

If the Ukr army does not finally and immediately send a *real* battalion (not a platoon-size “brigade”) to cut off and neutralize every Russian north of Nykanorivka, it can also give Putin Donetsk oblast for free. Seriously, how long can you close your eyes to not see this?!

  57. History has a series on what would happen if all people suddenly disappeared. Last night, one example focused on a Pennsylvania farm. The most significant thing I learned is that pigs would eat just about everything and when food became scarce, they would kill and eat chickens. Feral pigs would hunt in packs and wreak havoc in the surrounding countryside.

Feral pigs go wild in Texas. (Hog wild in fact.)

They do enormous property damage. So, Pennsylvania would be just another state following Texas’s lead.

Maj. Leader Thune and the Senate GOP need to step up and say “Enough.” Schiff’s history of outright fabrications and now evidence of illegal leaking all for partisan purposes make him unworthy of membership in the Senate.

They don’t have the 2/3 necessary to remove him, but the Majority can certainly deny him the ability to do anything other than cast votes for Calif. No committees, minimal staff, etc. Senator in name only.

A US District judge has issued a preliminary injunction against Tropical Storm Erin, as updated forecasting models suggest the storm may curve back out to sea without impacting any coastal area of the United States. Judge M. T. Void ruled that the storm must cause widespread devastation in Florida, Georgia, or South Carolina counties that voted for Donald Trump. The storm must bring climate justice to these voters, and enable the news media to heckle the president for inaction on climate change.

  72. Yesterday’s Treasury report was not so hot. Deficit of $291 billion in July, bringing the fiscal year total to $1.6 trillion. (For those of you who are numerically challenged, this is a big number.)

Weren’t we hearing that tariff revenues would close the deficit? Well, YTD customs duties have totalled $136 billion, a mere $28 billion in July. More like a drop in the ocean than a significant contributor – around 10% of the deficit and 3% of total revenues.

Maybe Trump and Bessent have just made an honest mistake?

The D.C. Circuit just handed the Trump Administration another victory in tossing aside the injunction requiring the State Department to make foreign aid payments. It is only the latest district court to be overruled on these injunctions as invasive of Article II authority.
