  2. Oh, DW…you are going to be pissed. I was just there last year when I visited my uncle up in La Pine which is 35 minutes down the road. The famous brewery is just across that bridge, a few minutes from the old mill pictured. Deschutes brewery makes a number of tasty beers for people who like beer (I’m more of a wine and spirits person myself).

  9. Israel’s bombing of the Evin prison, resulted in the death of some of the inmates. But before decrying this as an injustice, the left should consider that unlike American prisons which are all too often like a low budget resort, this prison was for torture with electric shocks, rapes, and only God knows what other atrocities done to victims. So without a doubt these prisoners would have first preferred to be freed, and returned to what’s left of their lives, but many there probably welcomed death over the endless torture, not to mention the knowledge that their torturers were killed and their instruments of torture destroyed.

The other part would lament this happening to NYC.

    Tough call.

It looks like maybe a lot of people who said they preferred the Marxist Muslim don’t actually vote or aren’t eligible.

The radical Muslim socialist wants to provide free child care, rent freeze and NY city government run (no profit) grocery stores.

Where the hell does he think the money will come from to pay for all that?

Plus he wants to get rid of the police force and replace them with social workers…That is rich….

  15. Despite the underwhelming response to Mr $$$ guess contest, I will give the correct answer. Bitter was the closest in the cost of installing 8 feet of porch railing–without going over the actual cost. The cost estimate was:

    $1,750.

    *************

I went to price the materials at Lowes today. I thought I could take an 8 fool section and saw off 2 feet to use as a railing for the stairs. Found out that cannot be done. So the materials would include $151 for an 8 foot straight rail (and saw off and throw away 3 feet) and also a $157 eight foot section of angled stair rail (and throw away 6 feet of that).

SO, I start with $151 plus $157. Add in $120 for 3 posts (@$40 each) $33 for 3 post caps and $10 for bottom trim on 3 posts, plus $30 for hardware stuff to attach posts to concrete.Total of $500 in material and $1,250 for what I estimate is 3 hours of work.

$420+/ hour seems a little steep to me.

-I know people who worked at the Park Slope Food Co-op. Pretty funny stories. You had the true believers, who worked their arses off to help it succeed, and then the ones who worked the minimum hours required to get breaks on their food purchases.

Most came to the conclusion that a food co-op could only exist in a very affluent neighborhood like Park Slope, so hopefully they will not vote for Mahmdani in the general election, and also not include him on the ranked choices as well.
